You must visit the observatory — we nearly didnt but luckily decided on our last night to make the trip. What a sunset behind the Hollywood sign! It made our IL. visit and cost nothing as it’s all free (including parking). I would recommend arriving about 4.30pm to see the sights of the city in daylight then wait for dusk and then the lights of the city to come on. Lots of locals take picnics and eat out on the grass. The food in the restaurant on site is very expensive so take you’re lead from them.
