The Brick Oven

Wow. I’ve ate pizza all over the country and never thought I’d find some of the best in Rock Springs GA! Perfectly cooked thin crust from a wood oven right behind the counter, by the owner, who gladly tells you about all the homemade ingredients, not only the pizza, but also homemade ice cream and root beer that are all utterly off the hook delicious. Everyone working here is happy and there’s a genuine family vibe going on. This place is well worth the trek from wherever you are. As it says on the door, «I do not see the world as it is. I see it as I am.»

This place is awesome! The staff is always quick to serve and always polite. The food is amazing! They are constantly thinking of new, creative ideas. Best pizza place around! I highly recommend Bobs Brick Oven!

I was a bit surprised by this little shop. I love a certain local pizza chain in Chattanooga that uses quality ingredients, so I’m a bit picky about pizza in the area. I will say this place, although it doesn’t top said chain, holds its own place. We got the pesto pizza, which was really flavorful. I would have rather had the crust a bit crispier, but the flavor made me not care. The homemade ice cream was wonderful, and the staff were all SUPER friendly.
I would definitely recommend them.

I had just seen this on Unilocal and had to make it down. Let me get out of the way and say that they also make their own ice cream and sorbet. Bob says it is the best anywhere and if it’s not, he pours it down the drain.
The Brick Oven is located about five miles north of LaFayette on Hwy 27. A great guy and Marine (not active) named Bob from this area owns and runs this fantastic place. There are two sizes of pizzas, and I got the personal size which is around 8 inches. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to pizza, so I got just pepperoni. He said, «Do you want me to do anything funky to it?» I asked what he meant. He said he could put a hot-​type sauce under the cheese that would not change the taste of the pie but would enhance it. And some ranch on the side to dip. I almost said no, but he sold me on this, and I’m glad he did.
He told me that they use the best ingredients including whole milk mozzarella (as opposed to the part skim commonly used). He put just the right amounts of everything on the pizza. It was made with care. Too much sauce kills a pizza IMO, and he put the perfect amount on. Bob said the most important pizza he makes every day is the one he’s working on. In other words, he puts the same care in to every pizza he makes.
He must have taken the pizza out of the oven after no more than three minutes. While it was cooking, he rotated it and moved it around. When he put it in the box, the cheese was bubbling and I knew I’d be digging in as soon as I sat in the car. It was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Great flavor. The crust had a nice char on it that was so good.
Bob says he’s never had a pizza better than the one he cooks. It was superb. Make the pleasant drive here. You’ll be glad you did!

We were coming to Chattanooga, TN for a few days and checked out Unilocal for any place that served Brick Oven Pizzas!!! Found this place and we also had recommendations from family and friends. The drive to the restaurant wasn’t bad — about 30 mins from our downtown hotel And was worth every minute of travel!!! The staff is fantastic!!! One young gentleman came from behind the counter to take our drink order, when he returned he took time to talk with us and tell us about the different pizzas. He suggested that the 3 in our party order 3 small pizzas — all different — then share!!! Which we did and it was an excellent suggestion!!! As we were finishing our pizzas, the owner, Bob, actually came around to talk with us!!! A very personable individual!!! IF you are ever in the area We highly recommend that you give strong consideration to stopping by and have a great pizza!!!

Second time visiting and it has never disappointed me. The staff is great and if you are not sure what to order ask them they know their stuff. We were recommended the smoked briquet. First bite gave a delicious smokey flavor accompanied by the very mild taste of their horseradish sauce. Delicious! There were no left overs! We finished with their home made pistachio ice cream, which they have many, like the chocolate jalapeño. Love this place will be coming here many, many times.

Great local joint for super pizza and service to match. The pizza variations are really creative — last visit I had a «baked potato» themed pizza with roasted potatoes and bacon, and it was delicious. Haven’t had anything we didn’t like yet. Homemade ice cream, homemade root beer, and other hand-​crafted items make this a one-​of-​a-​kind stop. And the service is tops. Showed up one night to pickup a carryout order but forgot my wallet, was $ 5 short and they happily forgave the shortage. Bob, the owner, is super personable and you can tell that his business is a labor of love. It’s evident all around — the menu, the food quality, and the top shelf service. Highly recommended.

Don’t let the fact that this restaurant is attached to a gas station scare you away. Excellent food and service. Pizza was awesome and though we were too full to try it, the homemade ice cream sounded yummy.

Incredible pizza and service. Don’t pass on the homemade ice cream. If you haven’t had brick oven pizza before, you are missing something great. Bob the owner is also great to talk to. I would definitely drive out of the way to eat here again.

Best pizza in the area — such a gem! The owners will make you something custom if you’re nice.

Excellent pizza. My favorite is a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Their cheese pizza is really good and includes a nice marinara sauce. Their ice cream is also fresh and very good. Great prices. Friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Incredible, incredible, incredible! Attached to a gas station, you’d never expect this diamond in the rough. Spectacular service from a wood fired copper covered grill. The crust is thin with great seasoning and just the right amount of cheese and toppings. This was genuinely one of the very best pizzas I’ve ever had and my family agrees.

Great thin crust pizza. A little pricey but good quality ingredients and made to order. Homemade ice cream is a must !

The BEST Pizza you will ever have. You can literally taste the smoky wood flavor in the pizza. So many great choices. Have to try «The Picnic» which is a BBQ pizza with pork they smoke themselves. Bob, the owner, is an amazing guy and always makes you feel welcome. Don’t forget to try the home made ice cream, too. Awesome place!

Have eaten every pie on the menu here and not a one disappoints. My favorite are the «Meat Market» and the «Picnic» (BBQ). All fresh ingredients, made in front of you eyes. The owner makes many different homemade ice creams and constantly has different flavors. Great restaurant, worth stopping in every time.
