We came here for breakfast on the road to Galena. Really wonderful stop. The food was great and the people charming. The restaurant itself is a museum, the camp Grant museum, and you can see the history of the people, the airfield, and the wars while you wait for your food.

My cousin and I went for breakfast at Command Post. Great diner style options, fresh juice(if you read my reviews, bad OJ is a deal breaker at breakfast). Our food was very good. We also enjoyed the conversation with the owners about the history of Camp Grant and this particular area of Rockford. After eating, we walked around and looked at the exhibits that have been assembled. This place is something special, beyond the fact that they have good food.

What a find! An unassuming place and so unique! My friend and I found this place quite by accident, saw the open sign and very clean windows — yes, that is one thing I look for in a restaurant ! We had breakfast of eggs, great American fries, and biscuits and gravy. Even the half order was huge. Great service, friendly and timely. If you are interested in military history, WW I to Vietnam, with an emphasis on the local area and old Camp Grant, you will have to take the time to walk around the dining room and adjoining rooms filled with memorabilia. The lunch menu looks great, too. We ‘ll be trying that soon.
