I was very excited to see lemon chicken on their menu online so headed to Happy Wok for dinner. Unlike traditional lemon chicken, theirs was in small bites rather than a full breast. Consequently the breading overwhelmed the chicken and in some cases there was only deep fried breading. The lemon sauce was great, the rice was greasy — I’m not quite sure how they managed that — and my fellow diner’s orange chicken caused gastric upset. So while the restaurant was clean and the service was great, I will not be headed back.

Heard great things about this place from several people at work. Called ahead to ensure the order would be ready. To my surprise the man taking he order said 5 – 10 minutes. We should up 8 minutes later talked to two different people who both asked us for out order again couldn’t find our order, finally ask us after waiting 8 more minutes we were asked if they could take it again and put it in. We left and went to dos reales down the street.

Love their food. This or the N. State in Belvidere are the only 2 locations I will eat Happy Wok at!

In my honest opinion, Happy Wok rivals all other fast food Chinese restauants… Panda Express who? Besides that, don’t you want your wok happy, not angry like those other joints? I know it doesn’t look like much from the outside and in fact it kind of looks a little sketchy, but if you can get past this then you will be one happy camper! I was always told not to judge a book by its cover so you should follow this wise advice and walk on in. My fiancé said that if he walked in and the wok was angry he’d be upset, but just as I guaranteed him I will guarantee you and say it’s indeed happy. Promise. I’ve been going to Happy Wok since I was a little girl and literally have always ordered the shrimp fried rice and crab rangoons. It’s so good that I can’t get myself to order anything else, but according to everyone else I’ve taken here the other food is super good too. The food is always perfectly cooked and it comes in good quantities. You could easily have leftovers, that is if you have enough self control and don’t stuff it all in right away. The interior isn’t particularly much to look at, but not every place can be glamorous right? Also, the employees are very nice so you shouldn’t have to deal with obnoxiously rude people when getting your food. A+++ for good olé Happy Wok!

Best Chinese in the area by far. This is my go to when I get a craving for Chinese. The restaurant doesn’t look clean on the inside but in my experience the good ones don’t, due to this I always get take out or delivery

Rice was over cooked and dry. Chicken was plentful but soggy. Its mediocre Chinese food. The same bagged and fried food you get anywhere.

Good, semi-greasy chicken fried rice. Ample soy sauce packets. Happy Wok fulfills my need for American Chinese food. No one will mistake this for authentic Chinese, but it is still delicious. The lo mien was decent, but the General Taos chicken is more breading than chicken.
