Best Mexican food ever! I went there after a rehearsal with Rockford’s Elysian Voices and it was simply outstanding. I’ve been to a number of Mexican restaurants, even upscale and the food was always so bland and had no kick or bite. This place had great food in a strip of Main St. that no one would ever suspect. It’s a Hope diamond in the rough!
Had the seafood soup (the one without the vegetables) and a spicy shrimp dish with rice and beans. The beans and rice were fantastic. Most places serving the same dishes process the beans so much that it’s more of bean paste and the rice is always bland. Beans at this place had actual beans in the mix along and the rice was spiced and crisped just a bit to give it a sizzle that is totally worth a drive from Chicago.
Awesome food guys, don’t change a thing!
