In 2012 Pedersen Funeral Home handled my grandmother’s funeral. When my brother died suddenly at the end of 2015, we sent him to Pedersen expecting the same professional and compassionate care we received before. We couldn’t be more wrong. The funeral home has changed hands. The memorials were never proofread before they were printed. I had to go back in four times to fix them and even after that the memorials at the funeral service and what was published in the newspaper were not correct. We received a memorial book after the service and this was not correct either. I asked the funeral home to reprint two of the pages correctly, something that should have taken five minutes tops to correct. When checking with them at the end of the next business day to see if it was done, I was told they were too busy and I wasn’t the only person in the world. I was a piece of work and that they were licensed funeral directors. I have no complaints of what I saw of my brother’s body but they need someone in their office that is competently handling the administrative portion of the funeral. And there is no need to berate their customers especially when it is the fault of the funeral home. No one needs to be berated while grieving. There was never an apology or even being told they had been busy but would get to it as soon as possible. The memorials and memorial book are things we will look at for years. They are the last things we have of my brother. They should have been done correctly. My father went in to pay the bill and get the death certificates. He was talked down to by the woman at the desk. My parents are grieving the loss of their child. They should not be treated this way. It has now been three weeks since his passing and we still do not have death certificates. We cannot close my brother’s estate without them. I checked with the Ionia county clerk to see when the death certificate was processed. They said they sent them to the funeral home on the 31st. When I went in on the 6th to question the funeral home about this, the owner said he didn’t know where they were, did I know where they were? This is not the same funeral home run by the kind and compassionate Mr Pedersen. He should never have sold his name with the business. I will never use them again or recommend them to friends and family.

We used Pederson based on a referral from Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods. They were everything you want in an hour of need. They competently took care of every detail, made everything very easy. Their warmth and empathy were so genuine and real. Every detail came off without a hitch, without stress and at a very reasonable cost.
