Wow! My wife and I just went here for our anniversary dinner. I haven’t had a better restaurant meal in years! We had the ahi tuna appetizer — it was cooked perfectly, rare as we ordered. I had the clam chowder soup. Lots of clams and maybe the best I’ve ever had. We both had tossed salads with the house blu cheese dressing. Very good! My wife had the filet and lobster and I had filet and scallops. The medium rare steaks were perfect and the lobster and scallops were as well. My steak and scallops were blackened as I requested. –amazing. The best meal I’ve had in years-and great service too!

Wonderful atmosphere. Nice sit down restaurant. Waiter was friendly, helpful when asked, and prompt with service. Started with the deep fried bacon. 4 pieces with chocolate syrup. Yum Onion soup was good. I believe house made croutons. Recommend it. Others had nice looking side salads. Nice looking I enjoyed the duck. But since it was my first duck I had nothing to compare it too. My wife’s lobster tacos were great. Recommend them. Only here for one day but we would come back in the future. $ 106 for family of 4 with drinks

We were at Tavern on Clark today for Mother’s day and we decided we would give them a 5. The waitress was wonderful. She was attentive w/o being too close. She gave great recommendations too. My steak was perfectly done at medium rare and my husband’s pork chop was very good. There 10 of us and everyone had something different. Everyone was very satisfied with the staff, quality of food and atmosphere(overall– it was a bit dark but it wasn’t a big deal). We all said we would go there again.

I was in Rockford on business and this place was just down the street from my hotel so I stopped in for a light dinner early in the evening. Service was excellent. My server was training that evening so I had 2 people keeping an eye on my table and it showed as I never really wanted for anything. At one point during my meal I felt that the dining room was a little on the warm side. I also overheard the couple behind me commenting on this. I told my server and within minutes the temperature had been adjusted appropriately. Because I wasn’t very hungry I opted for just a couple of appetizer-The Crabcakes and the Mussels. The Mussels were offered a couple of different ways, but I chose to stay traditional and got them steamed in white wine with garlic. They were excellent; cooked just perfectly and served with a couple of slices of grilled bread for mopping up all the liquid left in the bottom of the bowl. As 2 slices of bread were not nearly enough to soak up all that liquid goodness, my server also brought some extra bread, which was greatly appreciated. The Crabcakes didn’t quite live up to the mussels though. They were okay, but they were heavy on the breading and filling and rather light on the crab meat. They weren’t bad, just not all that good. Unfortunately, I doubt I will find myself in Rockford again, any time soon, but if I do I will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings.

Staff was pretty and good. They have the 2nd best baked potato in town and the steak was good as well.

The food is outstanding. The chef is a true artist. The fish and lobster tacos are the best fish tacos I’ve ever had anywhere. The burgers are very well constructed and hearty. Deep fried and breaded bacon yes please. Place comes at a cost but is truly on a elite level compared to other food establishments in town. For the quality I feel the price is fair. Wait staff has always seemed on point. I tend to just sit at the bar. Beer selection seems pretty straight forward and mostly IPA centered. But, lots of bottles to pick from. Place isn’t to hopping most days so it’s a great place to just relax.

Went to TOC for the first time tonight and had one of the worst experiences ever! My GF& I got there and ordered our drinks. When the waitress brought them over she spilled my beer & a full glass of cold water all over my GF! Our waitress & other servers came over & cleaned up the total mess but my poor GF had to sit there in wet clothes during our whole dinner time! Now you would think that maybe a Manager or Owner would come over and apologize or something, but NO, nothing. When we were served our shrimp appetizer the waitress forgot the sauce for it! We had to wait an extra long time just to get condiments for our meal! Than just to get out of there so my GF could get out of her wet clothes we had to wait for a time to just get the check! Needless to say we probably will not be going back, will just stick to Green fire or Big Al’s.

I had dinner here with a colleague. The décor was nice and had a good atmosphere. This is a good place to have dinner or a drink and watch a game. I ordered a rib eye steak with cajun seasoning prepared medium. The steak was served rare so I sent it back. The steak returned mostly medium and it was good. I ordered an IPA here as they have a good drink selection. I thought the service was OK. 3.5 stars!

All that glitters is not gold. The newness of the restaurant brought us in. However when we got there we had to ask for everything we wanted. Nothing was anticipated. «Can we get waters please?», «Can you bring us some bread please?», etc. Then when the salads were brought out, my ceasar salad did not have dressing on it. It took me 10 minutes to get the waiter’s attention after finally asking the bus boy to send him over. He ran my salad back and dumped an overwhelming amount of warm dressing on my chilled lettuce which created an unpleasant mix in and of itself. Within two minutes of the salad being back our main course was presented so needless to say I didn’t pick through my salad any longer. All the food was BLAND as can be. We had to personally season EVERYTHING which, when paying nearly $ 30 per plate I’d prefer a more upscale and intuitive customer experience. Nothing was comped for the salad slip up(not even a «Hey the $ 3 coffee is on us»). The entire experience(aside from calling and getting on the waiting list) was sub par at best and I’ll not likely return.

Nice place. Good atmosphere. Good service. Appetizers were okay. Nothing special. Steak was average even though prepared properly. Desert was awesome. They bring the desert tray to your table. It is hard to resist because they all looked so good. I would go back and try other menu items.

Very nice atmosphere, one of Rockford’s classiest restaurants! Sizable portions at decent prices. Soups were fresh and tasty. Food cooked fresh to order. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous. The staff is well dressed, friendly, and seemed content with their jobs.

Tavern on Clark is our go-to restaurant for lunch or dinner. The food is cooked to our tastes and the atmosphere is comfy. The only downside is the staff at times. The waiters and waitresses seem to be preoccupied and not very seasoned. We noticed that their staff has changed the last few months, for the worse. But ending on a good note, their bloody Mary’s and Friday Fish Fry are superb. Just get better staff and the stars will increase!

We are slowly but surely becoming regulars here. The appetizers are all great, soup and salads have been consistently great as well and we are working through the menu which has been excellent. The service has also been stellar and the staff very friendly. I would take any of my friends here for dinner and have recommended it to many. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Service was great. Extensive wine list. I wish they had more beers on tap. I had the French onion soup to start– so good! Very flavorful and lots of onion chunks. For my entrée, I had the salmon Napoleon. A different style of salmon and it paired well with the cranberry sauce. My husband had the mussels as an appetizer and was not that impressed. Our friend had the ribs and said they were solid. A better mix of veggies in the medley would be great!

Good food and a good atmosphere. It’s a great place for a sit down dinner, whether it’s a date night or after a long day at work. They have a more than acceptable wine selection which is only outdone by the bourbon list. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and good at their business.

I went here with a co-worker the other night for a quick dinner while we were in Rockford for work. Pleasantly surprised! We were seated right away — nice ambiance, I can see this being a good ‘date’ place. We both ordered rinks(Wine & Moscato– both good). Our server, Neil, did a great job. He practically had the menu memorized and gave us a run down of what some of the favorites were. She chose the fish tacos and said they were very tasty, and I had the filet and scallops — scallops were a bit small, but the steak was cooked to perfections so I didn’t have any complaints. This was a great place and I would go back!

My 2nd visit was just as great if not better than the first! Their drink menu has expanded so much! The environment is so comfortable. The food was most definitely the star of my evening! I had the High on fire Burger and it was cooked to perfection. My mom got the Lobster Tacos and they were unbelievable! I was so jealous that i hadn’t ordered them and mine was so good! I will continue to rave about this place! They do everything right!

Dined here for the first time last night. Was told there was a 20 – 30 minute wait so we went to the bar to get drinks. Our buzzer went off 10 minutes later. Bartender was nice and helpful in regards to their cocktail menu. We were seated in a roomy and comfortable booth. Our waitress was very cheerful and pleasant. She asked if we were interested in one of the specialty drinks, the Carmel apple martini. She also went over the entrée specials that night in very good detail. We ordered and enjoyed the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer, though I would have preferred more cheese and aioli over the top. I enjoyed their peach mojito and my husband had the strawberry mule. For my entrée I ordered the Salmon Oscar which was AMAZING! It came with your choice of a soup or a salad. I chose to upgrade my soup to the baked French onion soup for $ 2. The soup was fabulous! All in all we had a very very nice dinner here and would definitely come back!

I recently went for lunch with a friend, we got there shortly after they opened on a Sunday and sat outside. Their patio is not very large, maybe room for 6 or so tables. This may make it difficult to obtain seating out there on a gorgeous day, but the limited seating also makes for a quieter dining experience. But, truth be told, we were probably the only people there until 12, and the place didn’t really start to pick up from the lunch crowd until around 12:30. The food was good. I had the lobster tacos, which were a special offering that day. They came with the same set up as the fish tacos on the menu– flour tortillas, pico de gallo, avocado slices, cabbage slaw, spicy remoulade sauce of some sort, beer battered lobster. These sounded delicious, but I was leery to commit– so often this cooking method with seafood can end up dry and flavorless. The lobster was moist, flavorful, and not overpowered by the batter or any other ingrediant in the taco. It was served with chips and salsa, the salsa tasted homemade which was a plus. My friend had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. She said it was good and that she would definitely get it again. The fries were unlike any fries I’ve seen at other places. They looked like a mix between the coating on an Arby’s curly fry with a thicker steak fry. This is not a bad thing, in fact, I didn’t know how I’d feel about them, but they were pretty delicious. Our server was delightful, I feel bad that I don’t remember her name, but she was very nice. She seemed to plan her frequency of visits to our table accordingly, we were obviously there catching up and she didn’t hover over us. She gave us some space which was appreciated, but we didn’t feel like we had been forgotten about. All in all, I would definitely go back to check out some of the other things on the menu that sounded good.
