Stopped in for an early supper(~4:00) while traveling with family. Service was great and very friendly. Food was very good(we had flatbreads, fish and chips, a fettuccini Alfredo with chicken and a chicken dish I can’t spell but that was excellent). Split a couple deserts that were also very good. It was a great to stumble into this stop for dinner on our trip.

This was my first time there for the buffet, the food was great the service not so much. I ordered a orange juice and halfway through the meal asked for a small milk to which the waitress responded that she couldn’t give me one they didn’t have small sizes. She then proceeded to take the drink order from the next table over and bring them a small milk. So I will definitely hesitate to bring guests with me for terrible service.

Found this place while away on a girl’s weekend. Ten of us went on a Sunday morning and had their brunch. I am not a big eater, so I have always hated paying the large price tag that generally comes with a decent brunch. The price was $ 13.95 — an awesome price! There was an omelet station with so many available ingredients, various egg dishes, pasta, salad, fried rice, several meat options & desserts. I will definitly go again. I wish I had one closer to where I live.

Great food! Great staff! You have to go try it. Skip those chain restaurants and go here instead! Seriously!

Come for the great food and the great drinks but stay for the birch bar. I started off the night with an apple cinnamon whiskey that the staff was more than willing to microwave for me. I followed that up with a fantastic house made vegetable vodka martini. I followed that with a house made cucumber vodka martini. The seafood here is awesome. It was the topper to a really good night. So to recap, great house drinks, great food, and a great staff that will make sure you have a good time.

I did something I never do; I brought the leftovers back to my hotel room to snack on later. Warm goat cheese salad: crispy coated goat cheese, apples, carrots, greens in a light vinaigrette. Great tasting combination. If I make it at home, I’m going to add some sliced fennel. Large portion, big enough for a meal. Lobster mac and cheese: I got this on a recommendation. Tasty and the sauce didn’t break. Crispy finish on top. Grape tomatoes to add freshness. Fresh beet plate. This was delicious. Lightly dressed, the taste of fresh beets was just what was needed beside that rich, lobster mac n cheese. I brought half of it back to my hotel for later. Crab, mango, avocado stack. Good bite when you get the mango salsa, avocado and crab in one bite on the sesame pepper cracker. I paired the whole meal with a reasonably priced, very good pinot grigio. I left completely satisfied and am looking forward to a bedtime snack of beet salad and crab, mango, avocado stack.

Very nice atmosphere like a lodge, including a fire on a chilly night. Attentive, but not annoying wait staff. Nice drinks(sangria). Fettuccine Alfredo was really good. Chicken pesto flatbread was outstanding. Reese’s cup cheesecake was perfect for 3 to share.

Ordered the ny strip steak. Colleague ordered the full rack and tore it up. Loved it. Ambiance was cozy. No wait for food came out very fast and prompt. Service was very attentive. A great place if it was snowing out. Has a nice bar area.

Just left the restaurant and after it being one of the preferred restaurants we will not be back. Their new menu actually means less food for more$$. The mahi mahi was the size of a deck of cards for $ 17 with a small pile of vegetables. Prime rib was tasteless and rosemary potatoes undercooked. All for $ 107 …we won’t be back and recommend to avoid it. We felt totally ripped off!

Fast service. Good food. Had the French onion soup– not that good but ok. Fish was great! The cinnamon spread for the little biscuits was the best ever! Good was hot. Nice atmosphere. Done in a rustic cabin/woodland theme.

Great Bison burger… Only complaint is that the service was a bit slow for a relatively empty restaurant on a Thursday night

Maybe the last time I ever go there. Just had the worst bison burger that made me sick to my stomach. I couldn’t finish it because it was making me ill! I’ve gone here in the past and had decent meals, which is why I’m not giving it no stars. I remember the fish being good. Still, the quality of the burger giving me the heaves while I was eating it speaks for itself. It also lingers an aftertaste. Great biscuits and maple butter. The service was nice and attentive.

Bad experience all around. We didn’t get our food for over an hour, after not having received our appetizers for 45 minutes. And, the appetizers were too hot to eat. Had to ask server to refill water glasses, drinks, etc. Food was average. Ordered my salad with no onions. Had no clue that the scallop scampi I also ordered would have onions on it. Server should’ve warned me. But the kids meals were the worst I’ve ever seen. Not only was the Mac-n-cheese straight out of the Kraft box, but it looked like it was made yesterday & reheated in the microwave for serving tonight. Not kidding. Our hotel nearby offered a 10% discount for showing our room key. It’s still a bit early on a Friday evening(6:30), but judging by the number of empty tables, this place needs whatever business it can get, and out-of-towers are clueless fresh meat.

My favorite part about this restaurant is the large fireplace it has. However, if you do get lucky enough to get the table next to it you can bet if there are kids there they will be sitting next to it, hence next to you while you are dining. The atmosphere is neat, it has a cozy cabin feel to it. The food is ok and the service is nice. Overall decent place but didn’t make a huge impact on me.

Drove by this place for years but never stopped in until last month. It looks a little dated on the outside and the signage made me think of Red Lobster, but it was down the street from our hotel, why not? I was so pleasantly surprised. Slightly dated décor, updated menu. Service was … very good, albeit a bit … ‘regimental?’ Good beer selection, addictive bread basket. I ordered the shrimp platter and was very happy with it, will remember this place for next time we’re in town(we’re rewards members with a hotel chain nearby and were visiting family).

Outstanding My wife and I ate at the Rockford location on August 31, 2014. Service was very good. We loved the pop pop shrimp as an appetizer. The salad was excellent. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, and it was outstanding. We WILL be going back.

Atmosphere: updated and open bar. Allows in good light. Dining area has a cabin feel & is somewhat dark. Food/drink:. Around 10 craft beers on tap. Some specialty drinks & signature cocktails. There’s an extensive appetizer list(none vegan, 1 vegetarian). There’s a large menu with lots of options for salads, sandwiches & entrees. However, there’s pretty much nothing for a vegetarian to eat here except pasta. Even the salads seemed very meat centric so that if you asked for one without meat or cheese nothing very interesting was left. I wasn’t in the mood for pasta so only had a side salad which was nice & fresh. Others in my group made some comments while dining. Calamari was considered very good. No word on the mussels. Friends were not impressed with Mac n cheese or drunken steak entrees. Bison burger was rated as good. The sweet potato fries were good & crispy. Service: waitress was friendly but impersonal. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food came out in a timely manner. I think it would be more enjoyable here for apps & a drink at the bar rather than entrees in the dining room. However, I won’t be back due to a lack of vegetarian /vegan options.

We chose Thunder Bay for a family dinner spot & were not disappointed. Different type of décor inside which can be misleading. The menu is a bit eclectic as well. The menu has so many different types of food, it makes you wonder if they are good at everything or nothing. This was my first visit here so I was very interested in how their menu worked for them. To start we tried the crab cake sliders, bacon wrapped dates stuffed with cheese and scallops scampi. The dates were absolutely delicious, the scallops were perfectly cooked and the crabs cakes were seasoned well & served on a fresh bun. I went on to enjoy the drunken 6oz steak which was cooked the way I ordered & very flavorful. The service was a little slow but all in all the food was terrific.
