Beauty salon is excellent and does a marvelous and reliable job. Very pleased with them. Have been back for years now. Such an advantage to be able to travel and get a reliable, difficult hair color wherever you go. Special thanks to the Brookfield, WI, Ulta beautician for the original color. Rockford beautician does just as professional a job. Perfect.
In contrast, the brow area in the Rockford store was obnoxious. Constantly trying to foist a service that I did not want — starting on the telephone, continued through two incredulous, intrusive and pushy technicians. I do not owe you an explanation when I say no and should not have to defend this decision several times. Not pleasant.
Regarding Ulta in general — as your age increases over 40 yrs old, you will feel increasingly alienated by the store displays and set up. If you are closer to 60 yrs old, as I am, you will feel like this store (the Ulta model, not this particular store) was set up to make you feel unwelcome. Hey Ulta — you are alienating a large market segment. Why?

Store has a lot of brands and products, but many were not in stock. Also, I agree with the other reviews, lots of tampering going on here. The Ulta display was, frankly, gross. Sales are good. They carry more items from some brands like CeraVe that you can’t find at Target/​Walmart.

First time here at their new location. Came for the formaldehyde free nail polish. Had 2 clerks ask if I needed help. Nice. Check out clerk was professional and well groomed. Lots to chose from. Clean store.

The staff here are great, HOWEVER, I’ve never visited an Ulta where so much of their merch had so clearly been tampered with and fingered before buying.
This was my second time coming here and both times I came *thisclose* to purchasing a non-​tester item that someone had taken it upon themselves to test before me. Luckily their staff caught it at the register both times but that would’ve sucked to open up my box of $ 34 face goo and realized that someone had taken a 3-​finger swipe of half the product before I had a chance to.
And who are these product bandits who are testing handfuls of anti-​acne face masks? Are they applying them in public? What’s the MO there? So many questions, I have.
Again, have to give the staff some major credit for knowing to spot this kind of thing.
Also, the store aisles seem a bit cramped and the set up is a little different from my usual Ulta hangs, but they carry a really varied selection and I can’t mention enough times how on top of it their staff is.

I cant count the times I’ve been in this Ulta. In my experience it has been pretty well stocked, with some items being low every now and then. For example I was buying a few boxes or hair dye in a specific Feria L’Oreal Blue Black color but they only had 1 and I had to go all over God’s creation to find another 2 boxes (I have a lot of hair lol)
I have to agree, items are more expensive than drugstores but that’s why I don’t shop for those products here. I shop drugstore products at Wal Mart or Walgreen’s but when I want a certain hair curler or a certain Benefit or Urban Decay Cosmetic it is usually between Ulta and Sephora which are about the same price. They carry a lot of brand name perfumes, nail polishes, hair dyes, hair care, shampoo, hair treatments, hair tools, makeup tools, etc.
The downfall for shopping here: their return policy sucks. They will give you sooo much trouble and jump thru every hurdle for u to return something so hang on to your receipts til you die!

Most of their products have been opened and tested by customers. It’s impossible to find products that haven’t been used and their stock is poor with a lot of items that should be there but aren’t. They are also much more expensive than Target, other drugstores. I only go there if there is a sale on an item I want and I have a coupon.

I had my hair cut and highlighted at this salon once. It was a little pricey and they did only an ok job. I used them because I knew the place from living in Chicago, but I would not go back.
