Top notch venue for racing. Facilities need upgrading but great racing. NASCAR should return here fulltime and get rid of the cookie cutter speedways. The Rock is the roots of NASCAR.

NASCAR recently returned to The Rock thanks to the efforts of Andy Hillenburg and the Rockingham Community. This track is one of the NASCAR originals and is known for its sandy grit surface that chews through tires making it one of the most challenging and exciting tracks on the circuit for both driver and fan. Really requires you to «wheel-up» and the best driver and car surface quickly. The best part of this 1 mile circuit is that its the perfect size and seating to enjoy a race sitting on top of the track with an unobstructed view of the entire facility. You feel the wind and rumble all while sitting but feet off the track surface. They dont make them like this anymore… and I wish they did. The staff here are super friendly and recent sponsor additions made for a very pleasant food, beverage, souvenir experience. They really promoted and got the fan experience right by including free track access, driver autographs, concerts, and very well organized traffic. If you are looking to support NASCAR heritage and experience one of the best racetracks ever built, come out and support Rockingham. I’m a fan!

I had to do it. I was on my way to Charlotte and saw Rockingham was on the way. I like Nascar I am not huge into it but enough to know this is one of the oldest tracks still used today. So it was only 7 miles off my route and it was worth it. Just to know that all those great drivers were on that track. Very cool American Icon.

Would be 4 – 5 stars, if they had state-of-the-art weather monitoring, like Budds Creek(Mechanicsville, MD). Its a waste of time, money and energy calling off a race due to rain, when the sun is shining an hour later. Better luck next time.

Im not into Nascar. In fact I detest racing. I don’t see the point of driving around in a circle for hours and hours. But it is huge in NC. Years ago my friend and I went for the race in Rockingham. We were five rows from the track. I thought this was awesome. But in racing close isn’t good. Its kinda like the nosebleed at a ballgame. I remember my hat flying back twenty rows the first full speed lap. We had a good time but I don’t think I’d pay to see a race again. Nascar doesn’t use this track anymore. I read somewhere that a reality show is being filmed here. Chicks driving racecars. Yep. That’s what we need. Master your Volvo first and then come see me chickies.
