Growing up in a Donau-Schwabian household, can’t say enough about their authentic menu, love it, and the beer?! Nothing better than a true German beer on tap to go with bratwurst und spaetzle. Gutte essen!

I am not really a fan of german food, but this was by far the best I have ever had. Kudos to the chef on a fantastic meal. This is my parents favorite stop when they are in the area. This is a must try for all!!!

I had some somewhat huge expectations for the place because it had some good reviews. I ordered a few things off the menu and I have been disappointed. First the meal was somewhat bland. I tried adding salt but because it’s already cooked, it’s kinda hard to add flavor to something that was about an inch thick. Also the meat was pretty dry and the potato salad wasn’t my favorite. I like the sausages but other than that I probably won’t be getting anything else. The service is also preeeeeettttttttty slow. They’re moving around constantly for sure but not much attention was given to me and my siblings.

My family has been eating at the Austrian Village since I was a little kid. We’ve always loved authentic German food, and there is plenty of it in this particular neighborhood. But for authentic, no frills, laid-back German dining, the Austrian Village is really where it is at. Recently I returned for the first time in several years when my family had a large gathering here. I swear, the place hasn’t changed at all since I was kid. The décor is the same, some of the waitresses are the same, and most importantly, the food is the same. I tell you — I would travel a really long way for the German potato salad here. Amazing. Also highly recommend the schnitzel and the sausages. But you really can’t go wrong. Service is fast and good. Prices are incredibly reasonable. On this latest visit, they also accommodated our large group with ease, despite the fact that they were contending with our group, a second large group and their normal lunchtime rush. Total professionals.

I liked this place. A bit divey. Good service. Good food. It’s hard to find German/Austrian food around here and they do it very well.

I can’t believe I’ve yet to review one of my absolute most favorite places! Any who, the Austrian Village(or the AV to us regulars, lol) is a warm and welcoming place where you immediately feel as though you’ve entered a bygone era of simpler times, when the world was more innocent. The place isn’t fancy, but the friendly greetings and accommodations you receive upon entering more than enough make up for it’s lack of «swank». To be honest, this place just wouldn’t work if it went the trendy route. The AV’s modest and humble décor is just perfect as is! The food brings you back to Sunday dinners at your grandmoms house. Filling, traditional, simple and just delicious! I always go for the stuffed weinerschnitzel and homemade German potato salad… I’ve yet to be disappointed. Topped off with a cold glass of crisp Riesling and I am one happy mama! Speaking of being a mother, this place is awesome on Saturday evenings for a fun(early) night out with my family. They always have entertainment on Saturdays, whether it be a traditional German band, a Polka band, or even a one man band playing his accordian. My kids, aged 5&3 absolutely LOVE coming here. The last time we came, they actually had a staff member dress up as a chicken and do the chicken dance with all the kiddies. It felt like we were at a wedding reception in an old German village. So much fun! Lastly, I have to say that the average price for an entrée is roughly 12 – 14 bucks and that includes two sides. They have a kiddie(kinder) menu too, which is super cheap. I’ve never left there hungry and we usually have some of our food to take home and munch on later. All in all I gotta say, this place is the best! Such a charming little gem to have in the neighborhood. Ich lieb das Austrian Village!

Ordered 2 pork chop dinners to go… got home and noticed that they gave out raw chops! Like almost oinking! Then they acted like it was no big deal after telling them my son already ate a raw pork chop… smh I’m a cook I would of lost my job if I gave raw food out.

Coming from a largely Irish family, my whole cuisinal upbringing was based around meals consisting of meat and potatoes. So a visit to Austrian Village was fantastic, not only in quality AND in quantity, but in new cultural flavors as well. I already can’t wait to go back and try the other menu items The name«super schnitzel» is bit little suspect, much like a «chicken surprise» or a «vegetable delight,» but no need to worry; the dish itself was great. A thin slab of breaded and fried pork topped with mushrooms, cheese, and friend onions can do no wrong! It also came with a side of German potato salad. Since nutritional consciousness had long since flown out the window, I ordered a side of spaetzle. A seemingly easy dish(tasted like potatoey noodles and gravy), it was a great compliment to the schnitzel and salad. Perhaps next time I can limit myself to smaller portions to allow room for what appeared to be some great beer selections.

My parents live around the block yet I haven’t really been until tonight. It’s usually the place they go to for funeral luncheons since its generally not too crowded. It’s an older crowd with what it seems like regulars. Waitresses are older and the one we had wasn’t the friendliest(sarcastic remarks and such — I asked her to explain sauerbraten and she gave the same description as on the menu; thanks I can read). What we had: — Bread that is given to table is nothing special — white dinner rolls(not warmed) and some slices of rye bread with containers of butter. 2⁄5 — Spatzel side for the baby — comes out plain and they ask if you want gravy 3⁄5 — Snapper soup — always hot and ready to come out. I wasn’t a huge fan but they were so 4⁄5 — Wurst platter appetizer, which included 3 types of sausage(choices are chicken apple, kielbasa, bratwurst and knockwurst — we chose the first 3 and enjoyed the first 2 the most). 4⁄5 — Crab stuffed mushrooms– they enjoyed(I’m not a mushroom fan). 4⁄5 — Schnitzel parmagiana — wasn’t pounded as flat as other schnitzels elsewhere and the fry wasn’t as nice, but it was okay they said. 3⁄5 — Super schnitzel(with mushrooms and *fried* onions). He thought grilled onions would’ve been better. 3⁄5 — Beef rouladen– a bit dry(so good thing there’s gravy!). 3⁄5 — Hungarian goulash, a beef stew in a paprika sauce and I chose that over spatzel(all entrees come with 2 sides). I asked for my spatzel to be the appetizer one(onion and cheese). Goulash had good flavor but meat could’ve been more tender. 4⁄5 — Sides were pretty good: german potato salad(vinegar based, served cold), red cabbage(warm and good flavor), homemade sauerkraut Our party seemed more happy with the appetizers and the sides than the main courses. Service: 3⁄5 quick seating but not the friendliest servers Atmosphere: 3⁄5 They have events like oktoberfest and I hear have polka dancing? They also have beer stands when Rockledge has the block parties/car shows etc Beer selection: 3⁄5 They have an okay selection — not as wide as Hop Angel down the street So, it was okay. I like Hop Angel up the street better — a bit younger, more hip, bigger beer selection and they have a braised short rib sandwich that just melts in your mouth. The wings and garlic fries are pretty nice bar food at Hop Angel too. Enjoy :) But, meal was only $ 90 for the 4 of us and the portions are pretty big(we didn’t order alcohol so that was probably a big factor).

Austrian Village is back — woo hoo! This is just a quick updated review to say things have reverted back to their original goodness at Austrian Village. Homemade yummy mashed potatoes? Check! Delicious soups? Check! The original recipe for their Black Forest cake? Check! Creamy coleslaw? Check! Recently hubby has had various sausage and veal dishes and declared them better then ever. I’ve had the broiled chicken and it was very tender and so nicely seasoned. As you can tell from my list above I love the side dishes as much or more then the entrée. Add in the good beer, great service and reasonable prices they’ve always had and you really can’t go wrong.

I was impressed. I had the stuffed schnitzel and my kid had the bratwurst. The German Potatoto Salad, and the Sauerkrat were the absolute best I have had anywhere in America. These people do German food right. I mean really. If you are into this type of cuisine you will not be disappointed. It was in line with any traditional restaurant I visited in Munich. The beers on tap are all generally awesome and in line with what you might see overseas with a few American exceptions. I like much of the décor, the crests and the murals, however some of the establishment is a little dated. The bar, however was very cool. Many of the patrons seemed older and looked to have been regulars. I could tell they were regulars by the care the waitresses took in delivering their food and in their personal interactions. The waitresses are good people and seem to care about their customers. For the most part the prices seem low. I mean I got out of there for 36 bucks, two entrees two beers and a iced tea for my kid. I would go back. It is not overly fancy, however, if it was packed like the beer halls in Munich, one would not even notice some of the dated décor, that décor would become part of the ambiance and part of the story the establishment tells. I enjoyed my time here and will be back.

Excellent and eclectic menu. Schnitzel was out of this world tasty and nothing we tried disappointed. Will come back again. Funky parking lot, though and traffic during dinnertime is a challenge on Huntingdon pike.

This place has fantastic German food and craft beer! There is so much good food that I can recommend. Bratwurst, Knackwurst, Schnitzel, etc. If you like that stuff, try the Farmer’s Feast Special. The only downside is that the service is not the best. Whether you are seated at the bar or at a table, it takes a really long time to be served. Other than that, they really make it up with the food and beer. If you like German food, this is the spot!

This place has great German food! I love their schnitzel and never order anything else as a main dish because it’s just so delicious – perfectly cooked, crispy and golden brown on the outside. For sides, they have amazing potato salad(vinegar-based) and their red cabbage is the stuff of dreams. I’m also a fan of their spaetzle. For dessert, you can’t beat the apple strudel – they make it in-house and it really shows! The place is very casual and has a neighborhood feel. The staff is very kind. My husband and I try to stop in when we are visiting relatives in the area and the staff always makes a big deal about how honored they are that we come from far away to eat there. They often bring us some free dessert as a thank you.

We have been going to Austrian Village for close to 20 years now. AV was superb for what they did — home style German/Austrian food with generous amounts of adult beverages to lubricate the conversation. We had our wedding practice dinner here, it was very good back in the day. From what we understand the founder passed on and the place slipped to average or perhaps a bit worse then average. We still went every now and again because they have nice friendly servers, low prices, and they serve adult bev. At reasonable prices. Including a good selection of beer. Well, I’m here to tell ya, they got their mojo back. The food is good, the beer is good, the mixed drinks are good, and the prices remain reasonable. No credit cards, but an ATM in the entrance, and quite a few banks and a WAWA(free ATM’s) within a mile or so. They are closed on Sunday.

If you are looking for a real-time«Throwback Thursday,» or retro experience on any day, then Austrian Village is worth checking out. The décor certainly evokes the 1950’s or 1960’s, but what will transport you is the Polka music and the septuagenarian and octogenarian dancers, some in ethnic costumes. We were surprised and charmed to see the dance floor fill with all-decked-out couples who clearly had many years’ experience dancing together. At AV, I had my first taste of schnitzel(with mushrooms). It was lightly breaded and extremely crisp. The accompanying mashers and green beans were good. The Mister ate rouladen, which he noted was not as good as his mother’s version and which were much larger than mom’s petite rolls. The garden salads and rolls were unremarkable(not a fan of soft rolls), I would ordinarily award a «3» but the unexpected bonus of live music and cute dancing couples compel me to award a «4».

Went here for 30+ years. Then moved away and did not get back for 10 years. till tonight. Its better then I remember! The food, décor and prices and waitress staff is the best there are. Te waitress that waited on us remember us from years ago. Oh and she has worked there for 42 years. That kind of dedication is non existent at any of the ‘modern’ restaurants. The best authentic German food in the area. Its truly like stepping back 50 years.

Ok so, after years of coming back I realized my old review is obsolete. All veggies are fresh and made on site and the schnitzel impresses and satisfies my need for comfort food every single time. Rarely do I upgrade a review but I can’t sleep at night if I don’t give major props to this homey place. Also, the hot glüewine(spiced wine) is delicious.

I returned here for dinner on a busy Saturday night, and was able to score a seat at the bar. The beer selection was fine, including the local fest beer from Victory. I had the schnitzel here, which is made with pork rather than veal. Very simple but well cooked. Could have used a touch of lemon. The spaetzel and gravy along with green beans were the sides. Simple meal, but well done at a fair price.
