Food was great. All the normal Chinese you look for at a Chinese place, to include all kinds of seafood and various forms of shrimp. All of it was good. You’re greeted promptly, waitstaff is very kind and on top of things. We loved it. Expect to pay around 35 $ if you’re a family of 4 or so. Which isn’t too bad. We will def be back. Great place.

Please see review on other entry. Not sure why this place is in Unilocal twice. Need to merge locations as one has low reviews, this one good reviews. I would recommend

After a long hot day of fishing, I was told by a friend to come here because it was the best Chinese buffet around. To my surprise, the food was excellent and friendly service. I would highly recommend this place to anybody passing through or just spending the day in Rockport. A must is: the seafood biscuits. So good.

For a buffet this was very good. We went at about 7 on a weeknight and everything was very fresh. Timing is everything with a buffet. My favorite is coconut shrimp and it did not disappoint! Many food choices to please everyone.

Last night was the first time I ever went here, We took my son for his 21st Birthday, The food was great, the variety was great and the atmosphere was nice. I was weary on going after readings some of the reviews on this website but I now believe they are unfounded. I look forward to returning to this restaurant!!!

Great food. Very satisfied with the sushi. Fair price. The staff dont seem too thrilled to be there, but I cant imagine most people would be super stoked watching people make pigs of themselves all day and then cleaning up after them.

Do NOT go here. Not a super buffet unless you want to throw up what you just ate. Avoid at all cost: especially the seafood and anything warm/cold. Since it was the only place open, we had to eat there. Bad and rude service, didn’t care much to refill cups, took several attempts to flag them down to get something. The host/manager was hovering around everyone while we are. The food was not fresh and some where so salty and had so much msg that when we left, we had a tingly feeling in our mouth. Came home and 2 people in our family were puking/vomiting everywhere… sweating, chills, nauseated, etc. FOOD poisoning! Never ever again and I don’t promote this place at all. If I can give this place a negative star, it will be negative 5.

Lets be real – if someone is checking Unilocal for a Chinese buffet, they want to know one thing: will it give you food poisoning or freak you out? It won’t. It’s a solid quality American Chinese buffet. Clean, lots of variety, and lots of seating. The sushi is only the kind you would be ok with eating off a buffet table(frozen fish, veggie rolls, etc), the offerings are what any american would expect, from hot and sour soup to crab legs to fruit to general chicken. Everything is very sweet, but that’s what you come here for. They have a grill in the back I haven’t taken advantage of yet. It would help if they had a little sign explaining what the process is. The televisions are constantly playing some stupid news channel, which every restaurant in the world should stop immediately. Overall, does what it says on the tin.

Used to love this place cos they have so many options but started getting sick afterwards every now and then and suspected the cleanliness. One day they smashed a giant cockroach that was on the wall and that was the last time I went there.

Don’t be fooled! The outside looks bad but inside it is very decent :) So I have to admit I was skeptic at first because it looked misleading. The appearance was so-so outside but inside it’s nice: D The reviews got me worried because I am used to eating great Chinese food. But trust me the place is good! The food was definitely tasty and fresh. In not sure if it was because of the amount of people there.(I went around 6 pm). I had a bit of everything and my favorite was the fried rice, egg rolls, and general tso’s chicken. Very warm and tasted good. The only thing that wasn’t good was the lo mein. It was only noodles and sautéed over garlic. But with a bit of soy sauce, it is good. The selection for dessert was very good too. The I’ve cream was not your basic flavors, it consisted of rocky road, mint chip, cookies and cream etc :) Overall decent place and very good!

We had lunch at China A after avoiding it for over a year. I didn’t avoid it because of bad food but because my will power leaves me in there. I broke my personal rule and went back for a second helping of baked flounder and salmon. Also I had peel and eat shrimp, a dab of steamed rice and two pieces of sesame chicken. Every thing I tried was very delicious. I normally avoid the breaded, fried food because of the calories so am unable to comment on these except to say that the sesame chicken was good. We ate before noon so the food was fresh. When someone complains about dried out food I have to wonder if they ate late. No buffet can keep the food perfectly fresh for a long time. I don’t expect everything to be to my taste so I take a small helping first, hence the second trip on the fish. The waitstaff was attentive and kept our water full and the used plates carried away.

We own a condominium in Rockport but live in Austin. On our frequent visits to Rockport we occcassionally dine at China A Buffet. In our opinion, China A buffet is a wonderful choice for dinner. The options for dinner are endless. We particularly enjoy the fresh crab claws and local oysters. I find it difficult to get past the appetizers to enjoy all the other wonderful selections. We have never been disappointed in China A Buffet and heartily recommend.

Very ordinary, very conventional, very boring«Chinese» buffet fare. Quality is all over the place. Sometimes dried out, sometimes not, seasoning is different every time, sometimes bland, sometimes all salt, sometimes acceptable. Only bright spot is the Mongolian grill in the back. it’s the only game in town for«Chinese buffet», and they seem to know that.

We were craving some Asian food after meal after meal of fried food in Texas. China A Buffet was recommended by several locals but it’s average at best in general but maybe great for Rockport Chinese food standards. $ 9.95 for a dinner buffet(or ~$ 7 for a lunch buffet) are reasonable prices but most things were lacking a bit in quality. What we enjoyed the most was the noodle stir fry area where you mix raw meat, veggies, and raw noodles together & the chef cooks it for you on the spot. To us, the noodle stir fry alone was worth the buffet price.

Visiting Rockport but wish I could visit more often. The seafood buffet and sushi sections were excellent. I really didn’t eat much of the Chinese food because there was so much seafood and sushi to choose. Wait staff was excellent. I went on Saturday at 12:30pm and the food was fresh.

This has been voted one of the best Chinese buffets in Texas, and it really lives up to the name. For lunch, the price is just over six dollars, and for dinner it’s $ 9.50. They have everything from American Chinese food to American Food, to Japanese food(HUGE sushi bar!), steaks and fresh seafood. The waitstaff is great, they don’t bother you and refill your drink almost faster than you can drink it, and sometimes you don’t even see them do it. They have decent Unagi(eel sushi). There’s also salad and ice cream, and a big dessert bar. Do keep in mind this is Americanized Chinese food, so don’t really go in expecting real Chinese.
