This is the second time I’ve lowered my rating at this store! An additional charge, for Road Hazard Insurance was added by the Tire Desk(where work orders are written) to my automotive service without me even being asked if I wanted it. In the past I hadn’t experienced this before at other Blains’ Farm and Fleet stores in Woodstock, Belvidere or Loves Park. Feels like a sleazy business practice! I wonder if it was because I am a senior citizen? After I reviewed the itemized total, while I was checking out and paying, the«unauthorized up charge» was voided, at my request, by Richard, the Service Center Texhnician.

In order to do an oil change on my 4runner, the skid plates need to be removed to get access to the oil filter. I went to F&F for a few oil changes and after the second oil change I saw my engine skid plate hanging about 4 inches below the car. I crawled under the car and saw there was only one bolt(requires 4) holding it in place. Giving F&F the benefit of the doubt, I replaced the missing bolts myself. I took the 4runner for another oil change and now I see the transmission skid plate hanging down. I crawl under the truck to see there are only 2 bolts holding the engine skid plate on and only two bolts holding the transmission skid plate on. The transmission skid plate was not seated correctly making it hang down and two bolts were bust off. One on the transmission skid plate and one on the engine skid plate. This is very sloppy and inexcusable work for a very simple oil change. Now this make me worried what other shit work they are doing. I will not be going back

This is the newest location in the Blain’s family of stores, it’s been open almost a year now. The store is conveniently located a short distance off I-90. In fact, if you happen to be southbound on I-90, Rockton Road is the last exit before the freeway becomes the Illinois Tollway. The store is sparkling and welcoming. It’s huge, with a little bit of everything, from nuts(almonds, walnuts, peanuts) to nuts(fine, coarse, English and metric.) Some are even chocolate covered — those would not be the ones in the hardware department. Tires, wiper blades, trailer hitch balls, wiring harnesses, light bulbs, pressure washers, generators, tools, paint, ladders, clothing for the whole family, shoes, lawn tractors, housewares, small appliances, everything you can imagine(and never imagined) for agriculture, trailers, tillers, salt, soil, fertilizer, they’ve got what you need, right down to those annoying solar powered lights. Blain’s advertising is centered on value — their lines are not always the lowest priced, in fact, some lines are fairly expensive, but they sell high quality items at more than reasonable prices. If you want cheap, Wally World is next door. If you want quality, this is the place. You can even grab a candy bar, a bag of chips and a soda on your way out. Frankly, if Blain’s doesn’t have it, you don’t need it.
