George Martin restaurant has the ambience of a traditional steak house with the wood accents and the roomy dining room. They are known for their wide variety of steaks, chops, seafood and as well as fresh salads and pasta. You also got to love their Pop up breads that they serve before dinner. We had their Chicken Milanese Sandwich as an entrée which was good, but we will return to try their steak and seafood.

Love this place. Very good food and great service. Been here many times never disappointed. Menu is creative and well thought out. The place has a feeling of a busling Manhattan style bistro. Its loud but that doesn’t bother me.

Wasn’t expecting much since I’m not a huge fan of Grillfire or George Martin burger bar. I was wrong. My boyfriend and I went last night for dinner since it’s Long Island restaurant week. You each get an appetizer, entrée and dessert for $ 27.95. I had the polenta crusted calamari, cauliflower ravioli and the GM brownie sundae. Everything was perfectly portioned. The drinks were spot on. Definitely recommend this place as a quiet date not spot!

The restaurant was crowded and I was sitting by the door onFeb 132016 on a very cold day. They had a Valentine’s menu but nothing was on special you did not get no dessert or anything for it being Valentine’s Day and they having a Valentine’s you did not get no dessert or anything for it being Valentine’s Day and they having a Valentine’s Menu. I had to shell steak it was incredibly small for the price I paid I will not go back there if this is the prices you’re paying for what you get there was almost no sauce on it my wife had the filet mignon it was better. They did not offer no dessert or anything for the special day.

The service the food the everything!!! My husband and I make a habit of coming here for special occasions and I think it’s time to maybe come in between :) Your server Mary is a gem and I think you should give her a raise! Also, let her help you pick the wine… Between that and the filet my mouth is still watering. :)

I give 4 stars for the food but the service was lacking tonight. GM had restaurant week going on where items were not available because they ran out of items. I had the braised short ribs(pretty good), shrimp bisque(ok but have had better) and fresh fruit and sorbet for desert(decent). My complaint was service was slow mainly because I think the waitress had too many tables. I’ve been to GM during the week and found the experience much better.

I’ve never been disappointed by this place. It’s good for a night out, holidays, events, even take out– you name it I’ve done it here. Which is why I only give it four stars. The service and servers are always excellent, but the management has an arrogance about it that keeps me away sometimes. It’s like they know how good they are and they don’t need you. This might be a highly personal issue, perhaps speaking to my own insecurities; but George Martin(to me) is the only Rockville Centre restaurant that makes me feel this way. As for the food, my wife loves the creamed spinach and the green market salad with tuna. I have scored with short ribs, skirt steak, and the onion soup hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life. A delicious humus and bread come to the table before you can even begin to look at the menu –this place really has it going on; it’s to bad(for me) that they are so hyper aware of it that the atmosphere can be unwelcoming.

Grandma loves steak so we decided to have her 88th birthday dinner at George Martin. The reservation was for 19 people so they offered us the private room. Perfect for the occasion! The setup was great! The service was great as well. There were two servers put on our party and they were very patient, friendly, and prompt. Everyone loved the food. All 19 of us! I ordered the Half Rack Ribs with a baked potato and it was excellent. The half rack was huge and so tender. They had a lot of meat on them and the BBQ sauce was delicious! I had the honor of sitting next to the birthday girl and she ordered the 8oz filet mignon. Grandma said this is how a steak is supposed to be cooked. She said it’s well done but still juicy and good. She loved their house steak sauce too. Grandma’s birthday dinner was a success thanks to George Martin. I will definitely revisit and recommend.

Love this place. The food here is consistently good. The menu is tweaked seasonally. Specials are creative. My husband loves their steaks and mashed potatoes. They have several steak sauces to choose from. I love the grilled shrimp with chimichurri aioli and Tuscan vegetables. Breads and tasty butters are a must. The bar and wait staff are all very friendly and attentive to any changes that you might want to make. If you have room, don’t miss the brownie/ice cream with m&m’s atop the whipped cream.

Have been here many times and the food is always great, but my experience last night has left me wondering if i will be back any time soon. When i made a reservation, i called in advance to confirm that we would not be seated upstairs, as my grandmother is unable to walk up a flight of stairs. The person on the phone confirmed to me that our table was in the main dining room, and we would not be upstairs. When we got to the restaurant, we were told our table was not ready yet, which was fine and we sat at the bar for a bit. After a few minutes, we checked back in and they said our table was being set up. After about another 10 minutes, they told us our table was ready but it was upstairs. I explained to the hostess that our table is supposed to be in the main room since someone in my party could not get upstairs, and i told her that i was guaranteed of this on the phone. She simply said that no one told her, and she never apologized. She just said that they now have to wait for a few tables to get up if we wanted to be in the main room and we would have to wait for another 15 minutes or so. After about 15 minutes, our table was finally set up and we sat down. Not once during this whole thing did the manager come over and apologize(no one actually apologized at all), even though i saw him around and he kept looking over at us. When we sat down, we saw the manager go over to other tables as they got their food, ask how everything was, and just check in. He did not come over to our table at all, which I found to be incredibly rude. To not even get an apology was really astounding to me, especially since he was actively on the floor going to everyone else but us. My grandma felt horrible that we had to wait for another table, and it really upset me that she was left feeling bad even though it was their mistake and she did nothing wrong. The food was great as always, and our waitress was great, but the bad management left a sour taste in my mouth. With many other great options in the area, i probably won’t be back anytime soon.

I haven’t been here in a while and came back for restaurant week and had a great time w the Wife!, after a long hard week of work we just wanted a nice quiet delicious dinner in a nice setting and that’s exactly what we got! The special included one appetizer each one entrée each and one dessert each for 27.95, this is a very good deal espec here considering their prices are slightly inflated but still well worth it in regards to the quality of the food, anyway we were the first ones to arrive at 5 o’clock and were graciously seated by the general manager Mike who was extremely courteous from the beginning, I really love the lighting, overhead music and old-time feel in this place, it’s really late out nice and much bigger then you expect, we chose a comfortable booth in the front near the bar, We were served warm fresh bread w 3 different butters right away, nice touch, Rachel our server came over shortly after and she was just as courteous, we ordered the fried calamari and frisse salad for appetizers, The calamari was nicely prepared with three different dipping sauces one tomato which had a lot of flavor one was a beautiful pesto and the third was like a lemon ranch, my wife really enjoyed the salad which had Gorgonzola grapes and a light citrus dressing i believe, we decided to add the Burrata mozzarella off the regular menu for a middle course and it was spot on creamy and mouthwatering along with the tomatoes it was served with, it paired very nice wine w the wine Rachel recommended, for dinner i had the pork medallions and my wife had the chicken my medallions were cooked to perfection with a roasted pear sauce along with the whipped gorgonzola potatoes I was completely satisfied, my wife enjoyed her chicken she is on a health kick and was totally satisfied as well it was nicely seasoned and both were very good portions! Yes we still had a room for dessert though lol but only ate half the brownie sundae and the Keylime pie tasted as homemade as you can get! scrumptious! All in all we had a very very good experience although i left off one star because our server took a little while to bring our drinks and extra sauce for the calamari but no big deal, We look forward to coming back to this fine establishment in the heart of good ol’Rockville Centre very soon!

George Martin used to be my favorite restaurant on Long Island. I’ve been there a number of times since my last review, but in the last year or so, the restaurant just isn’t what it once was. My two major complaints from my overall experience over the last year, two years: the french fries used to be unparalleled, and now they are about the quality of mediocre fast food, and the chocolate truffle cake is long gone from the menu. You say, who cares about french fries? I say, these were AMAZINGFRENCHFRIES! But no longer. But here’s what you’ll care about(although if you can’t care about quality fries or chocolate cake we can’t be friends): I was at GM on Saturday night with a friend and the service was so rushed. Appetizers came out practically immediately, which makes me think they were pre made(they tasted a little of it, too), and entrees came out on top of them. The waitress must have asked four separate times if we were ready for dessert; we tried to stave her off for a while, to digest, but it wasn’t to be. George Martin, you were great for a while. I miss the George I used to know.

I live on the east end of Long Island and came to George martins in Rockville center to take my inlaws out to dinner. While the food was good the roach crawling on the wall next to me was not. The hostess literally had me move out of my seat to kill it with a linen napkin. He told me they just had the basement fumigated and they are coming up. Should people be in the restaurant after the restaurant is filled with chemicals? The manager came over and took the appetizer off the bill. I think that was kind of cheap considering how well My whole family handled the roach. I hope they see this review and contact me.

We came here for restaurant week, and we will definitely be back. The décor and feel was right up my ally, also their mixed drinks as well. I was quite content with my dark and stormy. Our food was great… from appetizers to desert. Everything was delicious not a single complaint. Our waitress Paulette was so sincere and nice, she was a pleasure to have. The negative reviews on this one don’t seem to hold much water, don’t miss out on this one. Its a nice change from the over done restaurants and other bars in the area.

This is one of my favorite places. I come here often and I usually get the filet mignon. My husband likes to get the salmon with the mustard and pretzel crust. The feel of this place is comfortable and the service is genuinely friendly. The negative reviews on here are harsh. The restaurant has been there for like twenty something years. It’s a neighborhood staple. They must be doing something right. I guess some people fall through the cracks now and again… and« Unilocal» on here.

So you go out for Easter dinner with your family of 8 adults and you find yourself at George Martin. A beautiful location and my family is seated at a table where all 8 of us have zero room to move and we felt a little tight, but it was a holiday so we just tried to enjoy it! Easter dinner makes you think that they would have more of a special menu and maybe offer a rack of lamb or ham, but alas NO, there were lamb chops on special, and another dish, but only 2 specials and it felt like it was just another Sunday and not Easter. So this was a little disappointing. Our table didn’t order appetizers because we wanted to have enough room for our entrees, and I was very glad that I didn’t eat anything but a piece of bread(which was delicious) because my short rib entrée was OFFTHEHOOK Yummy!!! If I could lick the plate I would have!!! While a dessert menu was brought over to us, since it was Easter I had made my Easter Bunny cake so we didn’t have dessert, but they did look yummy when I saw them. Overall, while I would have liked a more special menu for Easter, the food was yummy and I can say that if I am in the area to have a nice meal again I would come here. I’ve been to a sister location out in East Islip before and it’s good to see that the service and food are the same! So thank you George Martin for giving my family a break from cooking for the holiday and letting us have a delicious meal!

Let me just say, sometimes you need to experience things for yourself. After reading the reviews here, I was VERY skeptical when my boyfriend made reservations here for out infamous Friday night Date night. My lawddddd! My boyfriend kept telling me that I was gushing about this place. And I didn’t even realize. The waitress Paulette was awesome. The décor was nice and homey. Not overly loud. It was a bit dim lighting-wise but if you’re on a date or just want quiet time it works out perf. The busboys were attentive without being over bearing. Now let get to the food!!! The Seafood salad topped Fried Green Tomatoes were delectable! And I don’t even LIKE regular tomatoes. The Short Rib Tacos must have been cooked low and slow. The meat was so tender and seasoned. Very flavorful. The Roasted Pear & Beet Arugula Salad with just the right amount of sweet and nuttiness in each bite! Entreés: Yes. We still had room for our main meals. My boyfriend ordered the 16oz Delmonico Ribeye topped with a Gorgonzola Bleu Cheese Crust cooked to perfection. With chhhheeesy Lobster Mac n Cheese!!! Trés Delish. Their in house steak sauce had the perfect blend of spices and hint of Vinegar bitterness. I ordered the Chimichurri Skirt Steak(cooked medium and they got it just right. Which is challenging for a skirt steak because of its thinness) topped with their Chili Pop Shrimp. yum yum and all the way around yum! The Sweet Potato Frites was medium firmness and just right for me. The aioli sauce that came with my meal was a great topofff to my meal. So yes, in summary I absolutely gushed about this place. Not sure if we just went on a good night but Hats off to the owner, chef and staff! #foodieduties

I’m assuming, as the«original», this place had to have done well enough to call for a chain of restaurants. I’m not quite sure how this place stays in business. Although it was pretty crowded, it lacks the details to upkeep it’s reputation as the flagship of George Martin’s restaurant group. We opted for the restaurant week menu. We shared the calamari and meatball appetizers. The calamari was served with a COLD sauce. Not even room tempature… COLD. I will applaud the aioli that was served on top of the calamari, however. The meatballs were good, but nothing I can’t make at home. For my entrée, I got the steak frites. The steak was not seasoned at all. A slab of butter was served on top of it, which is completely unnecessary. The creamed spinach did not taste very spinach-y. We got the brownie sundae for dessert. Chocolate cake does not a brownie make. Brownie, especially in a sundae, should be ooey, gooey, and warm. The waitress was nice, so I’ll give them that. I would have given this place a 3, as there was nothing particularly BAD about the meal(but then again there was nothing particularly good about it either). However, my boyfriend got sick after. Hey, at least we tried.
