The best italian food I have had. The service is impeccable, the food was absolutely delicious and the tiramisu is perfection.

Pear salad was amazing! My husband had Caesars which was also very good! We had the gnocchi and spaghetti and meatballs — you can’t go wrong with either choice. I wish we lived closer because I’d be here all the time! Oh, and the bread was so good too!!! Finally the staff was very attentive and so friendly … I seriously can’t say enough … Wish this place was closer to home(Pittsburgh)!!

Meeting at the National Institute of Health nearby, and a dinner for 50 to 60 arranged at the Amalfi. Tucked away in an industrial park, I would not be able to find without a GPS or others familiar with venue. We all preordered in advance, so meals were sort of ready upon arrival. Calamari w marinara sauce, tasty but not enough for our table of nine. Some type of cheese pizza appetizer, bland. Garlic bread, typical. I had a lasagna, which must have been precooked, as someone else at my table commented on how crunchy it was(cooked twice, or kept in an oven drying out). Others had eggplant parm, which looked good. Dessert, a cannot about the size of my thumb. Tasty, but not fresh. I guess for a set price convenient dinner this is the best they can do in the area. A bit sad. Next visit, skip the dinner.

Amalfi Ristorante is located in a warehouse/office park area on Wilkins Avenue, close to Rockville Pike. It has been here for decades. This was my first visit to Amalfi but the couple who invited us have been going here for many years. We eat early, at 5pm! At this hour the restaurant had just a few other customers. Two hours later it had filled up but there were still tables available. The décor seemed to me to be quite dated and needed some freshening up. The tables were all set with linen table cloths and napkins. A nice touch. The cutlery though could have done with a final wipe! The men’s bathroom needed cleaning. The service was excellent from all the staff. Our waitress was polite and attentive. We ordered salads for our appetizer. They are large enough that you can share with another. I had the beef bolognese with homemade spaghetti for my main course. It was good. I felt it could have had more taste and flavour to it. We all ordered a dessert. I had the tiramisu which I enjoyed very much. Prices in my opinion are high considering the location. I would have expected similar prices for downtown Bethesda but not in a light industrial area off Rockville Pike.

Incredible carbonara! Pasta and bread is made in house. Exceptional veal and poultry dishes. Definitely worth trying. Hidden gem in Rockville!

This place is great. Excellent food and great service. A friendly family run operation. We’ve been regulars for quite a while. The recently added handmade pasta options are really good! Seafood is very well prepared here — the chef has a real knack for it.

****THISREVIEWHASBEENUPDATEDTOONESTARAFTERTHEOWNERSRESPONSETHETHEORIGINALREVIEW posted about prices listed and poor handling of the situation. To the manager/owner of this page… How does mentioning the price difference to a manager make someone«vindictive» as suggested by you, the owner? And threatening my business now too??? My experience was terrible, and instead of saying sorry they are saying its my fault??? I didn’t give your company a chance??? Do you know how ridiculous it looks to blame the customer for being upset over a misquoted price??? Of course I left your establishment angry, I was treated like ignorant scum, expected to believe whatever lie your employee fed me. All of the words/excuses from your employee could have been used to create a better experience. Instead it’s finger pointing at its finest. Even my 10 year old daughter said it was ridiculous. At least keep your dignity and respond publicly in a way that addresses the situation, not by threatening bad reviews on my business through«Karma». Now I’m going to spread the word about how management backs up rude behavior from employees and thinks mushy pasta is ok. Because you know, it’s hand made… And I hope«Karma» doesn’t come to get me. Thanks for the threat!!!

Wonderful family owned place. The service was great and the food was amazing. Such wonderful flavors for every course. The salads are a good size, lots of bread and the pasta is large but not too large. Dessert and drinks were fabulous as well! Will be coming back for sure!

Went here with my family for my grandmother’s birthday. I don’t frequent Amalfi, but we do go for special occasions and the food and service is solid every time. We started with fried zucchini and tomato & mozzarella, of which we could not get enough of. The tomato & mozzarella was presented beautifully and we all noted how fresh it tasted. We all got different entrees and were all satisfied. Being on a diet, I got a grilled chicken salad(I know, I know) but the chicken was so fresh and juicy, I ate every last bite. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. We decided against dessert just because we had cake waiting at home. The waiter, however, brought out a cannoli with«Happy Birthday» written in chocolate sauce on the plate with a candle. Very thoughtful! We sang and it was perfect! Definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion, or if you are just looking for a new place to try out. You will enjoy it!

Amalfi is the kind of restaurants that you can love or hate at the same time, I like this place because whenever I am here I totally feel Cousy and welcome and the food is well balanced, homey and tasty

I just had my team’s holiday lunch at Amalfi’s. The food tasted fine, but I wasn’t sold by the ambiance of the restaurant. We went in around 12:00, and we were the only party. A few other groups of people chimed in after our arrival for lunch. This place just gave me this old people vibe; it might sell with some people, but it doesn’t with me.

I walked in a few days ago because I was getting my windshield fixed at a place nearby. I had no idea what to expect and the place looked a little old and dated but I noticed there was an attentive staff and a special board with all specials that looked worth trying. Taking a hint from the menu that this place wasn’t old and dated but rather authentic, I stayed and I AMSUREGLAD I DID. The sea bass special(lemon sauce with capers) was so well prepared I devoured it and was entirely fine and happy paying the $ 42 bill for a good plate of food and a glass of wine. As I sat there eating so many people came in and seemed to consider this their special occasion place and excited to come back, I got a real good vibe.

I was part of a group of eight that came here for lunch. This was our third time here. We had reviewed the web page before entering the restaurant and were able to quickly order our food after being seated. The web page was user friendly and helpful. They provided us with bread before lunch was served, which was good. I had the lasagna for lunch and enjoyed it. Tasted good. This restaurant does a good job of handling groups at lunch time. The service was excellent.

I love this place so much, I don’t even know where to begin with this review! My in-laws have been coming here since the early 80’s(and my husband since he was a baby!) and I quickly fell in love with this place too. Whether we do carry out, eat in, or it’s a special occasion, John always takes great care of us and makes us feel like we’re the only customers there! We went for my birthday and his brother, the chef, even made us a special appetizer. They always remember us by name and are so friendly and welcoming, and dining there is just a treat. NOWFORTHEFOOD. I haven’t had a single thing there I didn’t like – stand-outs are the white pizza with cheese, tortellini mushroom cream(TODIEFOR), chicken or veal piccata, chicken penne asparagus, chicken fettucini alfredo, sausage porcini mushroom, pork bolognese, ravioli… even the side of vegetables you can get with your pasta is amazing(mushrooms and broccoli usually). It’s torture to pick what I want to eat there because it’s all so good! OH, sometimes as a special appetizer they have crispy cannelloni stuffed with ground veal with a nutmeg alfredo sauce.INSANE. For dessert, the limoncello cake is divine — light and fluffy, not too sweet. I’m sure I’m forgetting other amazing dishes! They also have a few homemade pastas you can sub in for only $ 2, and they really could charge more – they are so, so good! You will never want to eat storebought pasta again! They have been making a lot of upgrades in their food quality(though I had zero complaints before!!) and usually have 1 or 2 nontraditional dishes that always sound amazing. They’ve struck a great balance of keeping the menu favorites-authentic Italian food-but also changing the menu up a bit and offering various specials. It’s not fancy/dressy inside, but rather is very warm and cozy – exactly what you want from a good Italian restaurant! Not only John but all of the servers and staff are incredible. This will be our favorite restaurant forever and ever!

Excellent food combined with thoughtful service and an enthusiastic owner made our evening out a night to remember. The sea bass was succulent, pan fried with a crisp crunchy top and melting white insides. The fettuccini came with a sauce correctly flavored with nutmeg. The salads were works of art in presentation but such fresh looking greens. Amalfi’s has one dessert they prepare in-house — the Tontino(sp??) but the selection of other desserts was excellent. The lemon Mascarpone cake with a small scoop of strawberry ice cream was perfect. They had a toasted almond ice cream bar topped with sugar that had been caramelized(as in crème Brule) that was meltingly delicious. Several folks had wine and the oenophile in our group noted that the wine menu was small but the food more than made up for it. One of our group asked for a lemoncello basil drink and the bartender made it to her specs despite it not being on the drink menu. We arrived at 7 pm and closed the place down at 10. We were a group of 8 and noting the menu offered separate checks but would have an auto 20% tip, we went for that option.

Loved loved loved this place! I think this is going to be one of our new spots. It’s adorable and cozy and friendly… and, most importantly, has the best Italian food that I’ve had in Maryland. Seriously. My fiancé wanted to go here last night for his birthday dinner. He had some story about how he used to go to some other restaurant when he was growing up that had the most amazing white pizza, and when that restaurant subsequently closed then Amalfi was the only place that subsequently had this same white pie(or something very comparable). So we went here… and I was so surprised by how much I loved it! The décor is simple and classic. There are some brick elements, some flowers, some posters with scenic views of Italy on the walls, some photos of the family that has owned the place for many generations. Our server, I believe his name was Moe, is the owner(his father is the one who opened the restaurant initially) and he was so wonderful and so friendly! His energy was magnetic. I asked him what he would recommend between the fettuccine alfredo and the eggplant parmesan, and he talked about both dishes with so much love and enthusiasm. He clearly is very passionate about Amalfi and loves his job, and that happiness really is infectious! I could really go on and on about him. He was absolutely wonderful! And the food? Divine. We started with a small white pizza and it was literally as amazing as my fiancé said it would be. I love a good white pizza, and I feel like I’ll never be able to enjoy others as much anymore. We talked to the waiter about it and the secret is really in the cheese. I won’t give it away but I will say that it’s an imported fontina and that they spent a LOT of time testing out different cheeses to get it just right! We also split a small Caesar salad, which was delicious, had maybe some garlic, and a really wonderful fresh Parmesan flavor. For my entrée I got the fettuccine alfredo after talking to the waiter about the sauce(which they make to order, instead of having a big vat of watered down, thin sauce in a large pot!) The sauce was thick and creamy, and not very oily. They put some nutmeg in their alfredo sauce, which some people may not like but I really enjoyed. It was exactly as a good fettuccine alfredo dish should be. I am drooling for more! And finally: dessert. It was my fiancé’s birthday, after all, so even though we were bursting at the seams we couldn’t do without! We ordered a cannoli(which they gave to us for 50% off since it was his birthday) and they brought it out(while singing) with a candle and«happy birthday» written in hot fudge. The cannoli was fresh and delicious, and not overly cheesy or sweet. I have had the pleasure of dining at some really amazing Italian restaurants in my life, and Amalfi reminds me of some of the best places in New York City or Philadelphia. The food is fresh, made to order, and authentic(inasmuch as fettuccine alfredo can be authentic, anyway.) They have a passion for what they do and the family has a lot of love for the food and their patrons. I told my fiancé that even though we live half an hour away this was going to be a place we frequent often. Forget Little Italy… Make the trip to Rockville instead and check this place out!
