I didn’t even know that they actually kept an eye on me, and took the time to wish me a happy birthday. What truly astounds me is the personal touches… 1) not via email 2) oh me oh my… There’s so many aplastic anemic patients waiting for a gift of an extended life. Yet they knew my birthday was coming up… December 13th! 3) WOWFACTOR: it’s HAND written in beautiful cursive. I guess there are lots of good hearts out there who think of us, people enduring debilitating diseases, and will actually take the time and effort to act. It may seem like a small gesture for others, but for me, it hits me deeply. It gives me hope and the faith to carry on. Most people don’t see the deep pain I go through. The nights and days and mid day moments where it’s too hard to breathe or even sit. When our cell counts reach the lows… Oxygen is depleted. Breathing in even the freshest air won’t ease the effort… It’s only through blood donors around the world, who actually give their life, so that we can live. People actually sharing their blood, with others who need blood. Blood sisters and brothers we become. Arms with pale arms, so that every arm can pump blood to be able to walk, talk, and sit. The world is a giving source because people make it so. However, be mindful, because as easily as we give life, we can easily destroy life. Choices.
