Unilocal really does a disservice to proctologists by emphasizing the social networking aspect of this site… shall I post this review to facebook? Hey everyone, my PROCTOLOGIST is awesome!(Actually I think the technical term is colorectal surgeon). Oh well, screw it. Anyway… Dr. Katz helped me with an issue I had after the birth of my 9 lb, bowling ball-headed baby. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable when I was obviously nervous and embarrassed. He emphasizes medical management over surgery. He prescribed me something which helped a lot, and I am now doing much better. No surgery for me! He also had good advice about OTC products, which are useful, and which are a waste of money. I have a slightly different address for him(just down the road), so hopefully I’m reviewing the right guy!

Worst bedside manner of any doctor I’ve ever met. Dr. Katz did seem knowledgeable and somewhat friendly when I met him in the office. He was however not so friendly during two separate phone conversations. I had to call him on a Saturday when I developed a fever and complications associated with the condition he was treating me for. He was extremely rude acting as if I was interrupting his precious time. Approximately 2 days later after an office visit, he decided that surgery was the best option for me and we scheduled it for the next day. I called the office after coming up with some very important questions regarding the complications from the surgery that I had researched when I got home, and the receptionist informed me that I would not be able to speak with Dr. Katz prior to surgery, but that I could speak with the surgery coordinator who was unable to answer my questions, but did however inform me that if I canceled this surgery that was scheduled only a few hours prior to the call, I would be charged $ 200. I was not willing to go ahead with a potentially dangerous and life altering surgery without having my questions answered, so I decided to postpone. A few minutes after hanging up the phone, Dr. Katz calls and says, «what’s the problem here?»(in a very angry and aggressive tone). I started to tell him that I had a couple of questions and he cut me off and said«what’s the point of this ma’am?, Either you want the surgery or you don’t! You’re wasting my time and I need a decision now!» Needless to say, I was floored having never been spoken to this way before. I had some choice words for the doc and thank god the surgery was cancelled. I found an excellent doc who is treating me successfully without surgery. I am shocked that this man is in the profession he is in with a temper like that. His poor wife and 3 children. I hope no one ever has to deal with this man. Dr. Katz needs to learn to conduct himself more professionally and learn to talk to his patients who have questions.
