This place is pretty good. I feel like when they make your plate, you will get too much of one type of side/condiment. I would give it another chance. My meat(I think it was lamb) was a bit dry that lacked flavor. That’s why I asked for more sauce on top. The serving was a bit small and I was still hungry. The cost compared to Shophouse/Chipotle is a little more expensive. The more sides/extras you get, you have to pay. Not much else to say.

The rating I gave to this place last time has to be reduced after today’s experience. In a restaurant where you have them prepare food to order, it is understandable that you might have to wait a while for service. In a Chipotle-style restaurant, to be told«we won’t have steak for 12 minutes» is inexcusable. They knew they were opening at 11 am, and I’m certain that everyone on the staff who is involved with actually cooking the stuff knows how long things take to cook. So today I had my rice bowl with chicken. And I knew about the fountain, so unlike the last time I didn’t pay for a pre-bottled drink. And the food was good. But to be unable to get the meat I really wanted — unless I waited 12 minutes, which in a restaurant of this type is unreasonably long, even if somewhere else I might have waited even longer — is simply unacceptable.

The WORST customer service. I just walked in and right back out of this roti. The guy behind the food was taking sips of his Starbucks drink ignored my «hello» and continued to take his time drinking Starbucks and doing things in the kitchen. I know now why there was not another single customer there.

Went there for lunch, first time. WARNING… food«is» cold Order chicken with 3 sides 7.95 before taxes. Chicken rice, eggplants, and mixture of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions The chicken was«very slightly warm» The eggplants were cold, how cold? Take a teaspoon of spaghetti sauce for the fridge and eat it. The vegetable were cold how cold? cook you vegetable, and put them in the fridge for 4 hours. Mixture of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions at room temp. this is understand and i am fine with it Rice were at room temp and again it fine. The amount of the food they give you is fine for the price. The people were ok and nice. But I really don’t care much for the people, I rate the food. Will I go there again. dream on

The chicken is very dry. No taste. Small portion. Rice is not very good. The cost is more than Shophouse and Chipotle which are next door. The staff is not very friendly. They charge extra for little things. Salmon looks questionable. Big disappointment at the new Pike and Rose.

Roti opened and immediately became my favorite. Live Med food. However, two recent visits: near Metro Center downtown DC and at Union Station, exposed the same problem: tiny portions. They decided to increase profits bY cutting servings. When I pointed this out, a worker said that they are told to do that. Why would I go there if Lebanese Taverna and Mexican places, such as Baja Fresh and Chipotle provide ample portions? Big disappointment. Will stay away from Roti Mediterranean Grill from now on. :-((

Worst Customer Service and MISLEADING Promotion! I never write bad reviews but I was compelled to write this out of sheer frustration. I stopped by a few shops to pick up lunch for the family at home. Dropped by &Pizza(picked up a Maverick pizza, soo good) and figured I’d try out Roti since I had a Buy one entrée and get One entrée mailer. The place was empty except ONE customer. The meats(what was showing) looked old. I started to order and mentioned the coupon and the dumpy manager(I assume) almost took GLEE in telling me that BOTHPARTIES have to be present to get the 2 for 1 deal. I’ve never seen that stipulation before on a coupon. He was more adamant about telling me it’s written(in small print) on the coupon than trying to perhaps make an exception for a new customer. I’ve heard this place was a dump and always go to Cava instead and I will continue that. What kind of place offers a 2 for 1 promo but REQUIRESTHESECONDPERSONTOBEPRESENT??? Basically, these guys would rather save $ on a second entrée rather than carry on with a practical promotion to gain a NEWCUSTOMER. Talk about small minded management. I will NEVER come back to this dump, I will stick with CAVA. By the way, I just walked over to Shophouse and picked up some bowls to go(yummy). gROTTI is a place to AVOID. The food looked bland but I can’t speak for the food. However, with such an untrained apathetic staff and STINGY management, these are tell tale signs that I can’t TRUST these idiots anyway and wouldn’t trust their food. They are misleading, small minded, arrogant, STINGY and complacent. Thanks Roti for my FIRST negative review in over 5 years! Good job!

Zero customer satisfaction. They don’t care if you like the food! They literally served me cold smelly food because I went around 8:50 and they were in a hurry to shut the damn thing. I would never go to this place even though I love Roti.

Have been here three times and it was good all three times. The eggplant in tomato sauce is really good. This is the only Chipotle style Mediterranean shop I have been too. I have nothing to compare this to but it was good. Being not so fond of Middle eastern cuisine, this is the place for me as it is Americanized Middle eastern fare. You pick your plate contents and toppings. Chicken kabob is ok. They upcharge for beef which may be worth it. Portions are small but prices are too. Good lunch spot.

Good«fast food» at a decent price. I had ½ falafel and ½ chicken over rice. The broccoli veggies were a bit overcooked, and the rest of the sides underwhelming, but the overall meal tasty and the hummus was delicious. I will try salmon next time. I would like to see better variety of sides and offer a multi-grain pita option. Overall the experience did not leave a «bad taste in my mouth». Get it? Haha.

Roti Mediterranean Grill is a new fast-casual restaurant at Pike & Rose. It is like Cava Mezze, but a notch down in terms of flavor. I came here during their soft opening and was able to try one of their entrees for free. I went with their steak roti rice plate, topped with the dill, cucumber, yogurt sauce. With rice plates, you get three sides/toppings. Note that if you go over your three, it’s an additional $.50 for each item. For sides, I chose hummus, tomato and cucumber, and fresh veggies(carrots and broccoli). For toppings, I added the sumac onions and asked for feta, but they gave me olives. For people with a bigger appetite, the portion size may be too small. The food was fresh and seems healthy, but it leaves you unimpressed. As mentioned by other Unilocalers, the food could use a little more seasoning. I’m not a fan of the brown rice. The steak roti option cost an additional $ 1. It was cut too small so it was overcooked and chewy. On my second visit to Roti, I had the chicken kabobs, which were way better. I also tried the falafel. They were nice and crispy on the outside. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve never had falafel before so not sure what it’s supposed to taste like. They reminded me of Japanese Takoyaki. *Not on the menu, but you can order pizza. Also, I get that they’re trying to be different by using plates instead of bowls, but if you get the food to-go, the plate doesn’t really hold up well in the bag and the cover can easily come off. Overall, if you want something quick, light, and healthy, then maybe RMG is a good option for you, but for foodies who prefer more flavor, skip this. I thought the food was just meh. It wasn’t very memorable, but still better than ShopHouse next door.

First time at the brand new Pike & Rose Roti, as well as, what I believe to be, my first time at Roti, ever. Thanks to a fellow Unilocaler’s sound advice, I decided to go w the«pro tip» and got the salad w pita on the side(for unlimited toppings). As a noob, I went with 50% chicken kabob, 50% chicken roti, topped w dill, yogurt & cucumber, and can’t forget the S’hug(spicy) sauce. I got most of the sides and all of the toppings. In addition, I had a 3 free falafel coupon they emailed me. Not too shabby for $ 7.95. Loved the way all the flavors mixed together, complementing one another, esp that hummus and feta cheese! Next time, I gotta ask for EXTRA. Great amt of food to satisfy 2 hungry ppl w room for dessert.

I had a bit of an emotional roller coaster on this visit. Free meal for their soft opening/training — up. It’s an assembly line like Shophouse(which is next door) — down. Meeting up with some fellow Unilocalers — up. Seeing the cramped space with cushion-less steel stools — down. The friendly service — up. The price that meal would have cost — down. The taste of the food — up. Judging by the other reviews, I may have lucked out on my ingredient choices. I started with the rice plate. The rice was interestingly seasoned, sort of Moroccan but not as intense. Steak($ 1 upcharge when reality sets in) was tender with a bit of chew, marinated much like Thai larb, and paired well with the roasted pepper sauce. The red cabbage slaw was nice and crunchy, and the eggplant was complexly seasoned with a bit of heat, making me think Indian. Even the hummus, which I usually think of as plant based spackle, had a reasonable texture and flavor. The green tea was full bodied and sweetened just enough. The price for the plate and drink when they open will be $ 12.95 plus tax. The portion size was just fine for a skinny woman on a diet, barely an appetizer for a large guy like myself. Just on the quality of the food, I might have gone 4 ****, but based on the lack of value and comfort I’ve got to go with 3 ***.

I came here with BP and my brother-in-law for their free(RSVP required) dinner before their store opened on April 10th. I had never eaten at a location prior to this. The restaurant was bustling with excited staff and pleased customers. We got in line and ordered individually assembly-line style. I decided on the salad with the chicken kabob and dill yogurt. Perhaps next time I could try the salmon. Anyway, I also got couscous, feta cheese and hummus with pita bread. We headed upstairs where they’re was extra seating. My plate was a huge portion for me and I was full before I could finish(it took a few more minutes, but I finished my plate before leaving. Not one to waste!). I loved how the chicken was spiced. It was so tender and really made with all-white meat. The dill sauce was refreshing and the hummus was creamy. I don’t think I have ever had couscous before coming to Roti and I am officially a fan! Everything was fresh and tasty! The soda selection was limited, they need on of those machines I’ve written about at BGR and Nando’s(Rio). The one you can choose a variety of flavors? Maybe sometime in the future. Anyway, those chocolate chip cookies are the best I have ever had. Packed with chunks of chocolate and baked to crispy brown brown perfection! Must try!

Looking for a quick, take home meal, then Roti might be another choice for your dining pleasure. We were treated to a free dinner selection to help the restaurant work out any kinks before opening tomorrow. I chose the felafel platter with a side of hummus. The felafel was good, not great. It was crunchy and seasoned properly, but nothing outstanding. I think it is just a situation where the felafel was made earlier and was sitting under the heat lamps waiting to be served. The hummus was creamy and filling. The pita bread was warm and delicious. The freshly cooked vegetables were overcooked and soft. I don’t mean to look a gift horse in the mouth, I finished everything on my plate. There just wasn’t anything to rave about. Would I go back? A definite maybe. The staff was attentive and cheerful. The service was terrific. The chocolate chip cookies were very good. I am glad that I had the chance to try there new location.

If I had to play a game of Screw, Marry or Kill with the selection of local assembly line build your own meal(bowl, salad or sandwich) establishments, I would marry the crap out of Cava Mezze Grill, Screw Roti for awhile, and would probably kill ShopHouse. First of all let’s say the name Roti is actually misleading, there is no actual roti bread here, you just get pita. So anyways, Roti invited us for a free pre opening meal(they open to the public on April 10,2015) at their newest location at Pike and Rose. It was great, there was 40 staff members for every one customer, Much in the style of Chipotle and my spouse, Cava Mezze, you select if you want a salad, sandwich or rice bowl. You select a protein, two sides, and toppings and you can get a free dollop of hummus, and they cover the protein in a selection of dressings. I went with the salmon kabob, with cous cous and cucumber tomato salad with Dill, Yogurt & Cucumber dressing. They are very strict with limiting you to two sides, meanwhile at my local Cava Mezze Grill, I basically walk in and say gimme all the things and I get them. Flavor wise, Roti is pretty mild. Just ok. My salmon was unseasoned salmon cooked on a stick. The rice is plain pilaf style almost and the cous cous had olives in it that I barely tasted. I’ll give you that the food is pretty fresh, but mediterranean food is pretty flavorful, here it is just kind of bland. Not bad for a healthy quick lunch, but not great enough to put a ring on it. Also side note, there is a door leading directly to Roti from the Pike and Rose parking lot on level B1. No need to walk outside and around the corner outside.
