This is The Mansion at Strathmore. I only attend shows here, some of which I have paid $ 13 to $ 20 for. It is first come, first sit and there is never a bad seat in the house — it is more like an intimate setting. The times I have been here, they usually offer folks a glass of wine, so you can mill around a bit or view some art before your show starts. The last show I saw here was Christylez Bacon(hip hop) & Lily Neil(harpist) and they were a part of a series called«Uncommon PAIRings» where they mixed up the music of their AIR(Artists in Residence) alumni. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the times I have been here, all of the shows have been great. They have art in other rooms as well, but I have never attended any of their art shows here. I think they have coat check, but I am not sure. Parking is free, however if you are not able to find parking by the Mansion, you will need to either park on Tuckerman(metered but free after a certain time) or at the Grosvenor Metro for a small fee, and they are both within walking distance.

The Strathmore Art Museum and Sculpture Garden are probably an overlooked place in the Bethesda and DC area. The interior Strathmore Mansion features contemporary art and has a small art store inside as well. They have special events throughout the year too. The garden overlooks the hilltop of the Strathmore neighborhood and has a beautiful trail guiding the guest through the area. There is also a nice gazebo and fountain on the North side of the Strathmore Mansion. It’s really worth one’s while to walk through it on the way home from the Metro or go there on the weekends. I know I’ve certainly not taken enough advantage of it!
