Ordered from them only to have the delivery guy complain to me when he shows up at my door about how my house is too far and that they wouldn’t deliver here anymore… I told him that wasn’t my fault and how they had my address when I ordered and took his tip back. The food was good but there are plenty of other places and I won’t be eating in their restaurant either. How rude!

Delivery(dinner) review: perfect. wonderful. Far exceeding the quality and quantity of food that I could’ve hoped for. Sushi Oishii is consistently top-notch sushi, and I am a constant customer when I am in town.

Have been here twice now, once with coworkers for lunch, another for my fiancée’s birthday. Both times, have had no trouble getting seated, service was fast, very polite. Had the tonkatsu bento for lunch — very fresh, tasty, perfectly fried. The sides were excellent. For the dinner, got everything from sushi menu. Had sake don as my main, tamago(personal favorite) on the side, the Mrs. had a selection, but the cherry on top, as this was back in December, was the X’mas Tree roll. A stack of tasty rolls, covered on different sides with different sauces to look like a christmas tree. Exceptionally good. Washed down with the big can of Asahi, the Mrs. had some warm sake. It’s our go-to now.

Went here for an anniversary dinner. All of the sushi that was ordered was amazing! I suggest going for the premium sushi, it will not disappoint! The Super Foir Gras roll is to die for! You can’t get much better than this! Order up and enjoy! I’m seriously getting two of these next time!

I first went to Sushi Oishii a few years ago with my wife. We really enjoyed it. Since, we have been back several times, and I go there for lunch fairly frequently. Their sushi is very good(note: I lived in Japan for 5 years). In addition, their other dishes are prepared properly and quite delicious. For lunch, I typically with have the Sashimi special. For dinner, my wife will get a variety of dishes. I will definitely continue to go back.

Probably the best sushi I have had In DMV area! Our stuff was really friendly. Ask for their daily special!

Love, love, love this place. The perfect ordering experience. They have never, not once, made any mistake when we’ve ordered, and it must have been at least 20 times that we’ve ordered from here. The food comes quite quickly, and the guy who delivers it is just the nicest guy. It’s actually a pleasant experience ordering from them. And the food is amazing. It’s probably the best sushi I’ve had in the DC area(I moved here about 12 years ago from NYC). It’s the freshest and best cut sushi I’ve had. Delicious. We haven’t even tried their more creative rolls, which certainly are amazingly creative. We’re too hooked on our basics. The seafood salad is delicious. One kid orders chicken teriyaki, which is great — less cloyingly sweet than others, and very oniony. Another kid insists on sashimi and gobbles it up. The nigiri, the rolls. Never had a bad bite. And when I’m feeling under the weather? There is no comfort food like the Nabe Yaki Udon. We’re totally loyal regulars.

Everything they serve is super fresh and delicious! I recommend sitting at the bar with Ricky and having him serve up his creations in between rounds of charred salmon belly. The prices are very reasonable especially taking into account the quality of the ingredients they use!

Best sushi in the entire DMV area. Possibly one of the best I’ve had so far from all my travels. If you’re in he dmv area and love sushi, you have to stop by here. Ask for Ricky. Best bang for your buck too.

Above average sushi experience. Waitresses were not friendly, but the sushi was ok. Nothing to write home about.

This place is a hit or miss. I have gotten great sushi from here and then not so great sushi from here. The staff is very friendly but for me it’s all about the sushi. I don’t think they have a good lunch specials. They do give you these Japanese gums with your check.

So much cozier/better appointed than most Japanese restaurants in MoCo makes this a date night fave. We like the baked mussels better at Niwano Hana, but if you like creamy-saucy fried food like Bonefish’s bang-bang shrimp, and you don’t mind a little foie gras, then you may love the goo goo goo, which also has tofu and seaweed flakes, but it is a filling appetizer. Very nicely prepared and less filling is the fried soft-shell crab appetizer. Get it when soft-shells are in season. The nigiri and maki are fresh and well-formed, but if you like mango, go our favorite wacky-maki, the Sakura Roll, which features salmon, avocado and mango, wrapped with soy bean paper and topped with tobiko, served with a very nice sauce. We saw some nice-looking dishes being served omakase at the bar, so this is a contender for our first MoCo omakase night.

Yummy lotus roll! Love the lotus roll. I get it, it’s not realy sushi because it’s cooked. But it was so good! Ok sorry, backing it up. What a cute little place in travilla. I guess they have been around for a while but I never really noticed them. We came here on a Wednesday at around noon and were surprised it wasn’t crowded. We were seated right away and the servers were very attentive and nice. We ordered the lotus roll(delish!), Ootoro(super fatty tuna — it was ok… not as melt in your mouth as I thought it would be), uni(very fresh), and the lunch chirashi(good, very small pieces of raw fish which was nice, but also very small serving. If you’re really hungry, don’t get this one). All in all, it was a good experience, but we were definitely disappointed bu the ootoro and the chirashi lunch. We did get the fried ice cream and the coffee dessert and both were a-mazing!

Sushi Oishii is one of my family’s favorite lunch and dinner places. The lotus roll was phenomenal. The real crab meat with the seaweed salad and the spicy mayo on top made for a delicious experience! After trying the lotus specialty roll, I will be back to try their extensive specialty sushi menu. I do not recommend the shrimp roll, because the shrimp was very tough. The sweet potato tempura roll was delicious, albeit oily. The omurice was delicious, although it took 30 minutes to come, well after the rest of the dishes. The shrimp yaki udon was average. Customer service was attentive and nice! We also love the free appetizer they provide.

I’ve been here probably a good 6 years ago and didn’t remember it being all that good. After seeing all these recent good reviews, I told the wifey that we had to try it again. At least so I can do a proper review. Coming into the place, there’s a sushi bar in the back with the sushi masters at work. Plenty of nice seating and not too crowded on a Friday night. We were able to get a seat at prime time(7pm). While looking at the menu I noticed they have a ton of menu items ranging from small apps like age tofu, skewers, sushi ala cart, special rolls, and popular items like chicken teriyaki. We wanted to order lighter than usual this time since we are on a workout/health kick. So instead of ordering out usual 3 special rolls plates, we settled for 2. We got the angel roll which had Pepper Tuna and Cucumber, Topped with Avocado, Spicy Crunchy Salmon, Spicy Mayo, and Tobiko. That was a rather refreshing taste as the avocado shined through. I loved the peppered tuna which gave it a nice subtle flavor. Definitely delish! The other special roll we got was the Crunchy Fire Roll that had Shrimp Tempura, Avocado and Masago, Topped with Spicy Tuna, Spicy Sauce and crunchy flakes. This was my favorite of the night. I’m glad we stopped at 2 because anything more would’ve made our experience different. Oh, they also gave us this small appetizer on the house which was a nice gesture. It was some sort of chewy tempura fried with mayo sauce on top. I liked it. We did get the age tofu which was cooked really well as it was lightly battered and the tofu was super soft. The sauce that it was in was light in flavor but I’m assuming it’s meant to be that way. Still good though. Overall, we were quite impressed and will definitely come back to try the raw fish and other items for lunch. The Good: — special rolls are delicious, angel roll and crunchy fire roll was what we got and I’d get it again. — great service, offered us free app — prices are reasonable — everything tasted good without being so heavily reliable on salt The Bad: — i didn’t mention the beef yakitori which was a beef skewer. It wasn’t necessarily bad but just really bland in taste.

This place is pretty good. I ordered the rainbow roll and spicy tuna roll with some miso soup. I really enjoyed it. The spicy tuna roll could have been more spicy. That seems to be happening to me a lot lately. So next time I’ll ask them to add some jalapeños & wasabi. Otherwise the sushi was very fresh and my to-go order was ready in no time.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I came here a while ago and got a few different special sushi rolls off of the regular menu. The rolls were all delicious and ended up being very affordable thanks to a Living Social deal. However, I came here more recently for lunch and found the lunch specials(particularly the maki rolls) to be subpar. I’m not sure if the sushi chef changed recently or if they just didn’t make as much of an effort for the maki rolls, but they were unfortunately not very good — especially for a restaurant with the word«sushi» in the name! 3 of us came for lunch and ordered the nage udon bowl, the chicken teriyaki bento box(came with California rolls), the sashimi assortment lunch, and philly and alaskan maki rolls. All of the maki rolls were very small and did not have a lot of fish in them. The chicken teriyaki tasted like it was from Subway. The The only lunch special I thought was worth the money was the udon bowl — it was a little on the bland side but came with a good mix of stuff. If this is the standard nowadays, I might come back for the noodle bowls but wouldn’t bother with any of the sushi(Yoyogi’s the place for that). Also, its location isn’t the most convenient, so I definitely wouldn’t bother going out of my way to come here. Lastly, a lot of their ad material claims that you get a special offer if you check in on Unilocal or Facebook — as far as I can tell, this is not the case.

Sushi Oishii has been hit or miss for me. I’ve eaten lunch here four times, ordering the exact same items each time. The seaweed in the sushi rolls has a distinguishable taste to it that I don’t particularly like. The avocado salad has at times been fantastic, and other times has fallen flat on the flavor. The avocado salad is served with a mustard & soy dressing with gluten in it. Ask for ginger dressing instead if you are avoiding gluten. Sushi Oishii has some decent looking desserts, although I have yet to partake. They have a round dough dessert with oozing hazelnut that looks amazing. It’s not on their online menu, but pictures of it are located on the dining tables. Service is okay. We have been overlooked on occasion. It’s never been crowded during lunch when I have visited. The Traville Gateway location in general does not get much traffic. A Unilocal check-in gets you a complimentary seaweed salad.
