Walking into Route 66 feels like home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent and fast and the price is right. My favorite weekday lunch spot or Saturday morning breakfast with the family

I am former regular but quit going because I was served bad tasting burger and they argued w me, did not fix problem. Tried it again today, coffee was cold, had to ask for refill, that took 10 minutes, was served wrong food, no apology, when I received correct food, ham tasted funny, even the toast was dry. Not going back.

Pulled into this spot because I used to come here years ago when I would come into town. The service was friendly and the customers were friendly. The atmosphere is much like I remember. It could use some paint and the tile could be replaced. But I didn’t find it to be overly unclean. I have a nose like a bloodhound and didn’t notice anything unpleasant. I ordered catfish, fried okra and fried green tomatoes. Considering they probably had to batter and cook the tomatoes, It took the expected time. The food was good and I was happy with my choice. I’ll come back.

Nasty. Hubbards is a lot better. We tried this diner for the first time after passing by it for years, and we were not impressed. The place can use a good cleaning. We sat in the corner and the walls were filthy. 40 bucks for 4 of us! Never again!

Every meal I’ve had here was great, the classic blue plate lunch specials are fantastic! If you are craving an old fashioned breakfast or lunch in Rockwall Texas this is your place.

Hubs and I come here at least once a week for breakfast or lunch or both. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. The guys in the back cooking were taught how to cook really well — I’d like to take them home with me. The sweet tea is the best I have ever had too. If there is ever a line, it is worth the wait. Make sure you tip the staff well. They work their buns off here to make sure you get what you need! Wish I could give more stars!

A fun place to have breakfast. We were there with the whole famaily and had a great meal. It’s set up like a 50’s diner and they have plenty of nostalgia hanging around and on the walls. All of our meals were fantastic, the waitress was very kind and helpful. The parking situation can be a little cramped, but otherwise a great place to dine.

Don’t come here hungry. First, we waited to see our waiter and order the drinks. Then when we got them we waited around 45 minutes to get our omelettes and eggs with pancakes. It looked like we weren’t the only ones waiting though. You see waitresses stopping by different tables, chatting to people, laughing and you feel a little uncomfortable because they don’t make effort to talk to you:(the food is average, a little too greasy– Definitely not worth waiting so long for. They don’t provide snacks while you wait. There’s Nothing for kids either– no pages to draw, no games. You leave the diner unsatisfied and your hair and clothes smell like grease :(I don’t think we’ll be coming back here.

I placed an order to go they put my hot food in Styrofoam boxes and by the time I got home on the food and melted in my Styrofoam boxes I called back up there to talk to the manager replacement order or give me my money back and because I open the box she would not refund my money or we credit and give me a new food order so I drove up to the restaurant with the food melted in the Styrofoam boxes and she refused in person to give me a credit money back or make me a new order so what I had to do was call the police the police came in the store and caused a scene just to get my money back stay away from this business it is not worth it the food is horrible they do not stand behind their services at all I would never ever go to this place again and I’m telling everybody not to go there stay away from this nasty food. And horrible business

Gotta stick up for ol’ route 66! First off, i have never experienced the super slow service some Unilocalers report. It’s not as fast as Waffle House but they bring out the food at a reasonable clip. Food’s good & hot. I like the corned beef hash & eggs. Note — i only ever order breakfast here. Perhaps that’s why i get fast good service every time? I had to laugh at the Unilocaler who whined at about the small salad bar. It’s a diner, pal.

A real classic look and appeal to the place. We were seated quickly as it was mid afternoon. We ordered and got our food quick enough. The food was good and the flavor and taste stayed with the theme of the restaurant. Staff Was friendly and not«big city». If you’re in a hurry, go get fast food. This isn’t your place. Dessert was really good and my wife wouldn’t share! We’ll go back.

Well. As a local, I try to be supportive of the local businesses in my town. But I have to say that this place is in need of a lot of improvement. It seems to be a pretty favorite place for locals, away from the bustling shopping areas of Rockwall. But I would say that the current state of the restaurant is below some basic standards, even for a diner. The first issue is that the service is extremely slow! And I’m not basing this off one visit either. I’ve visited the place on three separate occasions, at different times, two of which were what appeared to be pretty slow«non-rush» times. On last visit, my watch showed about 45 minutes since my order was placed and no food! We ordered two sandwiches. Nothing complicated about that, right? Perhaps this is not a big deal to most, but for me, 15 – 20 minutes should be a reasonable standard. Not just under an hour. As I got up to leave, there were some people behind me that muttered that they had been waiting an hour. The second issue is that the place could use a makeover. While not necessarily all that important in my view, it’s starting to get rundown. The«route 66» theme, while is the unique mark of the place, is getting dated. The place is fairly dirty too. I get that most diners are«greasy spoons». I’ve been to plenty of them my day. But the bathrooms were especially dirty and there were dead crickets lying in the florescent lights above our table, plenty of food bits and trash under the seats. No dead insects in the eating area please. Carpets could be replaced or cleaned. Not exactly a warm, inviting place. Third issue: The food. Well, maybe it’s not an issue, if one expects that it’s just a Diner and nothing more. But it could be a little better. Perhaps if I visited the place a bit more to try more of their menu items, I’d be impressed with some of their signature plates. If the service was vastly improved, that would go a long way towards making me want to visit this place again. On the positive side, the waitresses were very friendly, folksy, and down-to-earth. The girl at the cash register was very sweet. I’m sure they have to work with what they got, and their table manners were excellent. And the prices were consistent and reasonable with a typical diner. And the coffee is great. But these things are not going to be enough. Some suggestions would be to cleanup the place a bit more, and simplify the menu some, so that the cooks and wait staff can provide speedier and well managed service. I want to like this place. I really do.

Good little diner. Food is ok. Service is excellent though. Seems very community-centered kind of feel. Pancakes were poor. Sausage is poor. Bacon is good. But it’s bacon. I give this a 3 Star.

This is normally a place I go for a good olé fashion breakfast. Coffee is always fresh and they never let you get to the bottom of your cup. Typically great personal service. Today was NOT typical for them. Service was extremely slow, my coffee sat empty forever. Once we did get drinks, it took another 15 for the waitress to come and take our order. Kitchen must have been short staffed bc the food was slow coming and I over heard other tables only getting part of their orders. I’ll go back for sure, just hope it’s better next time.

$ 7 for a salad bar that only has lettuce, canned mandarin slices, cottage cheese, coleslaw, and 4 salad dressings. The actual food was marginal and they didn’t have a lot of things. You could tell a lot of the food was frozen. Saw a cockroach running down the wall next to the salad bar. No chance of going back.
