Wanna get away from it all without«roughing it»? This is the spot, we got to bring our dog(pets should stay off the furniture) Located in the Moosehead area and in view of Mt Kineo sits these cozy cabins owned and rented out by Amy and her husband(they live above the office) that have it all. They say they have the essentials, but trust me, I have been to cabin rentals with less amenities for sure(see the tons of pictures I took). I mean, who is gonna put pint glasses in the freezer for you? These guys! We had cabin 12. I might be bigger than our house in SoPortland. It has a farmer’s porch on front with a gas grill and chairs. You walk in to a big open kitchen that had a full oven/gas stove, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, cabinets with pots and pans, plates, sugar, salt and pepper, bottle and can openers. You get the idea! There is a large table for sit down eating and a closet with broom(I think Harry Potter stayed there) The living room has two large leather sofas, chair, TV, huge fireplace that is perfect for putting a dog bed in front of! Off of the living room is a porch with two full sized beds with a dresser. There is a doorway that leads out to stairs to your dock, boat launch, picnic table and your own fire pit. Think that’s enough? Well… Go back to the living room and go upstairs to find a bathroom with tub/shower(the pressure is a little weak) complete with towels and soap. The«spare room» has 3 single beds and closet. The master room has a king sized bed AND a screened in porch with hammock chairs overlooking the water! Had enough? There’s more… Grab a canoe or kayak for free and paddle over to Maynard’s for breakfast or dinner or paddle down the river to Moosehead Lake or any of the connecting lakes. Did I mention all this for $ 100/night? BAM! There is a charge for each person over 2. We found this through air bnb, but you can look them up online as well. Amy greeted us at the office and gave us helpful info about the surrounding area and Mt Kineo shuttle(also dog friendly) and hiking trails. They have some sweat shirts for sale as well as firewood(we found some wood, kindling and paper in our cabin) as well as eggs… There are chickens on site as well as some white rabbits. This is way better than I expected and I am so glad we found this place.
