I did considerable research and tried various hair salons before settling on Gugliotti’s. I’ve been going to Gugliotti’s for 5 years and am extremely happy with all aspects of the experience. Leo is professional, skilled, insightful, fun to talk to, and incredibly kind and accommodating. Both the Franklin Ave.(Hartford) and the Rocky Hill location are pleasant places to be. I make my chain of reservations for months in advance, so that I am assured of my being able to get in, and I look forward to it. Oh, and Luciana is one of the nicest people around! The hairdressers and the staff treat their clients with great care. I can’t imagine a better place in central Connecticut!

I went to Gugliotti’s for a short period of time on the recommendation of a friend. The stylist who I was seeing was Kelly, and one day I got a call that she no longer worked there, so that was basically that. I have no idea what happened. Kelly actually called me directly too, but I never called back, as I just decided it was a sign to go back to my old salon. Kelly was nice enough but I just never felt like I had a great overall experience. My brown hair was always brassy by my next appointment. They would offer wine sometimes, but whenever I got it, it had fruit flies in it, so that’s not appetizing. It’s bad enough they’re giving you the cheapest possible wine, but at least keep it stored properly so it’s not full of bugs. That happened to me on at least 3 occasions, I finally stopped asking for wine. If you get your hair colored, but not cut, they actually charge you for a blow dry. That is pretty offensive, given the prices. And their parking situation is horrible! The lot is almost always full(must be with employees, as there are never that many customers there) and there is no direction as to where you should go if the lot is full. Once Kelly left, I felt no reason to try to make it work at Gugliotti’s anymore.

Always on trend, always leave looking better! I can bring my pinterest boards of looks I like and Leo always finds a way to find what works for me and my hair. The Gugliotti team stays current with their knowledge and on-point with trends for both cuts and color. I see Leo for cuts and several different stylists for color(because of my crazy schedule) and have had consistent results — always happy. My boyfriend is a regular now too including his daughter and other teens in my family. The great services combined with the warm, caring personalities of the Gugliotti group are simply the best in CT.

Left salon one day after had color/cut($ 209 before tip) with left section in back of hair highlights NOT done. Called the next morning to complain and the receptionist, admitted my hairdresser/owner commented to her on that AFTER I left. Guess he thought I would never pick up a mirror and look at the back of my hair!(I now wish the next time I went in that I had told him how disappointed I felt that he let me LEAVE salon like that!) Recently requested and got same color/cut. New colorist; in fact noticed lots of new faces in salon?! My hairdresser looked at my finished hair with highlights and said«Beautiful». Only problem — the base color was NOT my usual hair color! He eventually admitted an ex-employee SABOTAGED the clients color numbers! Why wasn’t he honest with his customer again in evaluating my hair? So new colorist(very nice) tried more highlights but they were pencil thin, not the chunky highlights that I had been getting for OVERTENYEARS here. So next day came back armed with pictures that were taken over the years of what my hair looked like after they colored it and requested chunky highlights as usual– but was told my hair looked«nice». Hairdresser and colorist said THEYLIKED it. Fine, but doesn’t the CUSTOMER have to like it, especially when she has been a customer for so many years? Left saying goodbye to the receptionist, who is really a sweetie, saying, «What ever happened to the promise, we will work on it ‘until you are happy’»?

5 stars says it all folks. I’m sure being a guy is the minority of the clientele that a salon receives, and thus women might look at this with a grain of salt as they’d have higher standards for this type of thing. Let me stop you right there. Over the last 7 years I’ve regularly visited Gugliotti’s whether it be the Rocky Hill salon, or the original Franklin Avenue location. Never once did I leave with a bad haircut. Not once. Now, I’ve tried some other places here and there purely from a cost perspective because 7 years ago I was much younger and much broker. I’ve come to realize something with age, much like when you go out to eat, you get what you pay for. Sure I can get my hair cut for $ 10 or $ 15, but then I end up looking like a hipster toolbag for 2 ½ months. This is because the barbers at that price range have most likely been practicing the art of cutting hair for 3 years while working 2 part time jobs at Zumies and Starbucks, watching old DC skate videos, and attending 3 warped tour events within 2 weeks every year thus they have only mastered one hair style, the Proverbial«Hipster Barista». No matter how I explain to them what I want(insert roger sterling hairstyle here) I end up looking like I’m supposed to be at the Westfarms Starbucks pumping out Vanilla bean french goya machiatto frappé’s in 20 minutes. This look is personally not for me, but I digress. I rather spend the money where it counts, and not look like Helen Keller cut my hair. I personally always see Martin, and if he’s not around the only other person I trust is his brother Leo, but that’s because I’m extremely particular. They are both terrifically skilled at what they do as each of them has been doing this for 20+ years now, not to mention friendly and talkative. You will not find a place with a friendlier staff than at Gugliotti’s. Every time I go in I feel like I’m visiting cousins I haven’t seen in a while. What other salon have you gone to that they’ve offered you espresso, or coffee, and offer complementary clean ups? The Rocky Hill salon is very new and modern. It has a fantastic design and is always spotless. The Hartford location is old fashioned and cozy. Gives for more of a personal ambiance, and homey feel. Bottom line, this is the nicest, most laid back yet professional salon I’ve ever been to. The quality of the job they do is superb, the presentation is fantastic, and the overall experience is something I imagined of places twice as expensive. If you still have any glimmer of doubt in your mind then realize that the owners, and some of the staff compete on an International level. That alone should speak for level of quality you’ll find here.

Very unprofessional! The employees are very inexperienced… I was looking for a specific hair cut and the consultation had a very simpleton vibe. Not going back again. I’d rather go to cost cutters.

I have been coming here for over 10 years, and this is by far the best hair salon in CT. Leonardo is a genius. The entire staff is so welcoming and talented. Can’t wait to get my haircut there again!

Very beautiful, spacious and modern salon. Although the layout was wonderful as is, I was told they were going to start upgrading and remodeling very soon so I’m sure it’ll look even better! Unfortunately, I won’t be going back to see what the finished product looks like. Don’t get me wrong, the salon and staff were wonderful but its not a salon for… «ethnic» hair. I’m Hispanic with thin, frizzy, damaged hair. My beautician knew how to handle a pair of scissors with a fierceness but her strong point was obviously not textured hair. I left with an excellent hair cut on hair that looked like a bigger puff ball than I already had. Not slick and straight as it should have been. I cried… Don’t judge me. I wanted to love it but I couldn’t. Had to force myself to cancel my scheduled appointment. Beautiful salon which will be even better in appearance but more suited for men and woman blessed with flowing locks of sleek hair.

This place is a beautiful establishment right off a main road that was easy for an out-of-towner like me to find. A friend of my recommended Gugliotti’s for my engagement party that was hosted in Newington. And as a California girl, I do not know much about the East Coast let alone where to get my hair/make-up done for the big shin-dig. I was very pleased with the chic-ness of the salon itself and the customer service that my sisters and I received. The layout is huge, there are tons of salon chairs and you feel as if you’ve stepped into a hi-fi downtown Hollywood salon. I had my make-up done by Marie and she was great. Very friendly, willing to listen to me and use my own product. She also was very generous with the advice she provided me. My hair was done by Susan and she was fantastic. Willing to manage my full head of hair with loose curls and also help me place traditional Indian jewelry into it as well. Overall, pricing is very reasonable for the work you get and the service you receive. I highly recommend for any other women in the Rocky Hill area to get their hair did!

This salon is very tastefully decorated and it is a nice, relaxing environment. A friend of mine says she comes here for the ambiance and luxury of the salon… The front desk staff is attentive. I have never been kept waiting at this salon(or the Hartford branch, which I have been to also), everyone here is very punctual. Even when I am not. oops. I have been going to Heather S. for 3 years now and she is a great stylist. She listens to me and understands how to make my hair«work» to get the results I want. She also always respects my length requests. I have long hair and usually just want a trim – she doesn’t pressure me to cut any more than I want.

Had my hair cut by one of their so called student whom they hired and has been cutting hair there for four years. I went in with long hair and left with a Super Cuts trimmer cut. I even showed her a picture from the books of what I wanted for a hair cut. I have been growing my hair back out now for over three months. Whatever you do don’t go to this salon especially if you are male.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. I go to Kelley at this location, and she is excellent! She does as I ask, while making suggestions as to the style. I have never been unhappy with what she has done. And I love that they offer coffee while I wait!
