I love this place! I’ve had many haircuts in many locations, but no one listens to what I want the way that the stylists at 1604 do. My hair always looks great, and all of the stylists are so sweet and friendly. They are also the only place I trust to wax my eyebrows! I have very sensitive skin prone to burns, but I don’t have to worry about that at 1604! Love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly people, and wonderful services.

While in town visiting family, I stopped at this Aveda salon for a pedicure. I go to an Aveda salon at home in Phoenix and preferred that experience. Luckily, Rocky Mount has one and I walked in and was able to get a pedicure! The pedicurist was great; I told her I like sparkly, and she showed me one from OPI’s Liquid Sand collection. I saw those when they came out earlier this year, but didn’t think I would like it so never bought any. I liked the color of one she showed me and decided to give it a try. WOW, did it turn out beautiful! Even though it’s a matte finish, the sparkle is incredible. She did a fantastic job on my feet(which had just returned from the Outer Banks) and the color was fantastic. I LOVED their sample-size collection of Aveda hair products – even my Aveda salon in PHX doesn’t have that. I snagged a few for my well-traveled quart-size TSA liquids baggie. Also, a local male friend of mine said he gets great massages here. I really enjoyed my experience at this salon and would recommend it to the locals!

I have spent years going to this Salon. About 3 years ago it changed hands to the current owners and things really began changing. It was a serene Aveda Day Spa. Now from Paint colors to Products and Services it has becomea«Hip Hop» salon of their Soldiers with products like Redkin being the number 1 used product in the store because they are reps of the product to the industry. I mentioned one time of services that were not what they used to be, and products that appeared to be burning my scalp and most recently a Keratin treatment that appeared to have stripped my color. I spoke in a concerned but not upset or demanding directly to one of the owners, they offered really no solution. They ignored my concerns and instead, called me up on the day of my appointment that had been booked 12 weeks prior and cancelled it because they had decided to «fire me as a customer.» After the initial shock wore off… I truly realized that it was a blessing in many ways. I had become loyal to a business that simply did not serve their customers. They were rude and obnoxious every time I went in there gossiping about customers and I listened from a distance. It was a hostile and unprofessional environment selling and doing mediocre to poor quality services.
