I went to 9 Islands to buy bacalhau and ended up getting their pão sovado as well. Wow, by far the best bread I had in a long time. The lady the help me out spoke fluent Portuguese and was a sweet heart. If I lived in Rohnert Park I would become a regular.

We stopped here on our way to Healdsburg and were very surprised at how good the sweet bread and the desserts. A real treat. We bought t he New England linguica that was recommended, but I thought it was bland tasting. But nevertheless, this is place is a real gem just off Highway 101. Now it they just served espresso… ahhh.

A hidden gem!!! Delicious pastries. The bread and rolls are AMAZING – super fresh. When I eat here I feel like I’m in Portugal. There’s also a little section with imported goods– pirii piri, linguica, Sumol soda, cod cakes. I like to shop at family owned businesses and the owners here are helpful and nice and – big plus – the prices are great. The building is a little bit hidden, right next to Popeyes and definitely worth a visit.

Okay found this on the web and waited over a year to go to this place. Visiting in-laws (we’re from Washington state) in Petaluma made the drive and can’t wait till next year! I’m Portuguese and tasting their sweet bread OMG! brought me back to grandma’s kitchen, even my father in-law spent time in Brazil & Portugal in his 60’s and when he tasted the bread he goes“Oh yeah that’s it”. Before we left to come back to Washington state I bought 6 loaves of sweet bread, hot sauce, marinade. It’s the best!

9 Islands Bakery – or Padaria Nueva Ilhas, if you’d like to be technical about it – is a delightful little slice of Portuguese cuisine. Named after the Azores Island chain, off the coast of Portugal, this little secret of Padre Town Center is very easy to miss, with its unobtrusive storefront. It’s also closed Sundays and Mondays. Despite this, you’ll have a hard time finding most of its treats anywhere else in Sonoma County. Fresh sweet bread is baked daily, with other selections available specific days throughout the week – consult the whiteboard calendar inside to see what’s what.(Some require a special order.) The centerpiece is doubtless the refrigerated case next to the register, which holds the desserts. If you like coconut and/or macaroons, go for the coconut flan. Try the egg custard tarts – they’re especially good after a nuke in the microwave. Or, if you’re more of a purist, bags of meringues can be had on the shelf. You might also enjoy the Sumol – a soft drink popular in Portugal. Despite delicious treats, though, the sparseness of its interior and offerings makes me reluctantly give this bakery 4 stars. Perhaps with more business, it’ll develop to its true potential! It’s certainly not suffering for making delicious goodies, I’ll say that.

Very, very tiny… and very popular, so many items were sold out by the time we arrived around 4p on a weekday. Nice-looking selection of pastries in the small display case, but we were traveling and it was too hot to try and store them in the car. Darn, we will plan better next time! Almost all the bread, except for a massive bag of day old rolls, was gone. We had heard that they have some different varieties of linguica than we have available where we live. We purchased two to compare against our standard Silva(San Jose brand). 9 Islands had the Fernandes Caseira(this vendor make different types of linguiça, but this was the only one 9 Islands had that day). and a linguiça from New England Sausage Co. Upon our return home we did a three-way taste test with the Silva. The Caseira is lightly smoked, a touch sweet on the finish. Grind is uniformly fine. The NE Sausage Co.‘s linguica was heavily smoked, very tart. We didn’t like this by itself, but I used it for making baked beans the next day, for which it was wonderful. They seem to have different linguicas available at other times, so stop in if you’re in the area — you could find something new to try!

I am obsessed with Portuguese food. Absolutely obsessed. From their baked goods to Piri Piri chicken, and to find this little gem, that not only has delish morsels of home baked goodness, but that sells traditional foods. What is not to love? I come here and buy most of my Piri Piri Sauce, and love the wide variety of canned fish(anchovies) Stock up on Egg Bread, and their little frozen section is well rounded too. I wish there was some sort of seating, because I like their coffee, but sometimes don’t want to take my treat to go.

I go here just before I go on my diet of no carbs. They are hidden across from A good will outlet in a small area behind a lot of small stores. A vacum repair shop on side in the Padre shopping center in Rohnert Park, Cal. Friendly, and the best sweet breads and cookies and pastries. Well worth looking for them. Didn’t make it there on time today. Just as well, saved a lot of calories, because I can not stop myself from eating the whole loaf of what ever bread on the shelves. They will also slice it for you. Very, Very good on everything, but very small, look hard. Been there a long time.

This place is great. I’m Portuguese and so miss the Portuguese food I was brought up with back East. The sweet bread is the best… There’s also frozen fish from Portugal, canned sardines, peppers, Portuguese olive oil and lots more for such a little place. And the woman at the counter is a sweety. And even though it’s in a strip mall, it is just a minute or two off the freeway.

Small bakery with a dry foods shelf and small fridge full of cold goods. A great place to stop in when I have a hankering for portuguese style sausage.

Nobody, and I mean, nobody, makes better Portuguese sweet bread than these guys. As a son of Portugal, I approve. It is so light and fluffy that it will melt right in your mouth. This place is a bit hidden towards the rear of the strip, but certainly worth stopping in and stocking up for.

The BEST! There is nothing like this anywhere. If you are lucky, you are near enough to be able to go there. I am hooked on their authentic Portuguese sweet bread. And so is every single person I have gifted a loaf to. Its also the least expensive, tastiest, homemade gift you could ever give to somebody you love.

No wonder there is only«three»(3) reviews for this hidden bakery. Not only this Portuguese bakery is located«way» up north in Rohnert Park, the bakery is hiding in the very back of the Padre Plaza and facing away from the busy streets. Nonetheless, the small bakery sells fresh Portuguese baked goods and desserts. All baked in the back of the bakery. Also they sell some imported items as well. By all mean, this is a very tiny bakery. I was here late in the afternoon and remarkably there is still some pastries left. For a quick snack, I bought a Napoleon Puff pastry. For $ 2.50 the Mille-feuille pastry has three crunchy layers of puff-pastry sheets with two layers of gooey custard in between and a chocolate topping. I’m not sure how Portugal and France can relate to this idea of this sweet pastry, but it was damn good. I also bought a pair of Portuguese custard egg tart called the«pastel de nata». Now for $ 1.25 each, the custard tart may not be in the same league compared with the yummy and hot Chinese-style custard tarts from Golden Gate Bakery. But the Portuguese-style has its own unique taste of sweetness and texture. Despite the far location and a challenge finding it, I actually like this quiet bakery. I paid my entire treat in cash. Credit cards are also accepted. But I’m not sure what is the minimum purchase for the use of the plastic. If you want to find this place, it is located in the Padre Plaza on Commerce Blvd. and right behind Popeye’s. «And no, I didn’t buy any of you fried chicken too. So don’t expect a 10-piece special coming to your house.»

I am Portuguese for many generations, and believe me, we are passionate about our massa souvada.(Portuguese sweetbread). This is, hands down, the BEST sweetbread I have had in my life. There is a tendency to overcook this bread, and even the best bakeries have a dry product. But not this place. Absolutely fabulous. I’ve also purchased linguica and other Portuguese deliicacies here. Nice people.

Being half Portuguese, I was very happy to find this place. I have not had Portuguese corn bread since my Grandpa Augusto died in 1991. Theirs tastes just like my grandpa used to make. Their sweet bread and pastries are great too!

If you don’t live here in Santa Rosa — Rohnert Park, you’ll need your GPS to find this tiny place. Authentic Portuguese bakery that carries just a few other items like Chorizo, salted dried cod fish, a few soft drinks. I bought a few fluffy dinner rolls and a few pastries. The construction and the flavors of the baked goods was yeoman competent. Nothing spectacular. This is working mans food. Prices are very low. The young lady at the cash register was friendly and sweet. Some of the breads can be found at the local mom & pop grocery stores.
