Love this taqueria! i live walking distance from here. Pupusas are yummy, i love the vegetarian burrito& regular burritos. Salsas are on point. Not too spicey. Friendly staff, i miss them at the RP farmers market but lucky to live close by! Prices are cheap too! Tip– order ahead for a quick pick up, does tend to get busy in the evening

Chile verde super burrito was beyond delicious. Moist and meaty, with ideal proportions of rice, beans, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. The chile verde pork was fresh, moist, tender, spiced and cooked to perfection. I ordered to go and customer service was great. My partner said his carne asada burrito was, «a good steak burrito.» The chips and salsa were mediocre, but I will definitely be back for more of their show stopping chile verde burritos.

This is were I get my Sunday morning burrito!!! Same quality all the time awesome. Unfortunately I guess at night when you order for pick up; apparently they won’t make the order till you get there… sigh

Excellent family style food. I’ve been coming here ever since they opened over 20 years ago and have never had a bad meal. The beans and rice are very authentic and fresh, and the chile verde is spiced perfectly!

They have the best burritos in town! After going to the new website I decided to try something different. Frankie the owner suggested chili verde and the waitress said to try camerones al la diabla! So delicious! Dont take my word, try for yourself!

Good food, really nice people. I’d give them 5 stars but for some reason they always serve burnt chips. Other than that the place is great.

Normally I enjoy this place a lot, but I went last night for dinner and checked my bank statement this morning, the girl who rang me up decided to give herself an extra tip I guess, because that was not the total I signed off on.

This restaurant ranks well compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area it has a diverse menu and has reasonable prices. The food is tasty I normally just order the California Nachos(fries instead of chips) and the portions are great the taste is great and the service is fair sometimes it’s okay sometimes its good but regardless I’m going to continue going the owner seems to be a nice guy as well. The ambience is fair nothing flashy its not pretending to be something its not its simple normal Mexican style. Overall it’s a good place to go to if you’re in the area drop by it’ll be worth it.

I don’t know how this Taqueria gets such great reviews. The prices on the menu were out of date. The customer service was horrible. I’ll never return. IMO try Rancho around the corner. Better food, Better prices and better customer service. Win win

This place rates off the charts. We were visiting the Russian River with our kids a year ago and got a last-minute hotel in Rohnert Park on our way back home to San Francisco. After everyone showered, we headed out for Mexican food, only to find the place next to our hotel turning the lights off at 8:40PM on Sunday. So I found Taqueria Sol Azteca, and saw that it was open until 9:30PM on Sundays. The family’s favorite food is Mexican, and we are always in search of great cooking. I grew up on Mexican food in Tucson, and my Mexican husband has been to all but one state in Mexico. We have lots of favorites and will go a long way for one great dish. That first night, we ordered a fried tilapia with carmelized onions(which the owner modfied for me, because I am allergic to bell peppers), mixed fajitas, enchiladas, camarones a la diabla, and pupusas, beans and rice, flour tortialls and their homemade corn tortillas(homemade on weekends). Every dish was large, and it was so delicious, we forced ourselves to finish every bite. For drinks, we had their homemade horchata(YUM!) and bottled jarrito de toronja. Dessert consisted of flan and sweet tamales. The food was all made to order, so it took a little long to make. Everyone took amazing care of us and made us feel right at home. We now return whenever we pass through Rohnert Park.

The California burrito is the best thing in the whole world! It is basically a super burrito with French fries in it. After eating this amazing treat it is hard to go back to a normal burrito.

I don’t understand why this place has such a low rating. There are lots of Mexican restaurants in our area and this one is by far our favorite. Reasonable prices, friendly service, and really good food. The food is not particularly fancy, but is always well prepared and delicious. I especially appreciate the wide variety of meats you can choose from. Good kids menu too. If you skip this place, you are missing out!

I’ve only ever gone to Sol Azteca for their nachos and tacos, so I am basing my review on those two items and their service. Taco Thursday is an excellent deal and I actually prefer the smaller portioned tacos with less meat to the 2.25 menu priced tacos. That is just personal preference and I wouldn’t doubt that other people may be surprised by the tacos they get on either of those occasions if they’re used to one or the other. I love the tacos here because I enjoy putting their salsa on the tacos and eating them that way. As far as I am concerned, I need look no further for my favorite tacos. The only problem, and this is a big one for some people, is that there seems to be a lot of grissle on their steak meat. So much that it ends up being pretty gross and annoying. The reason I can’t give this place a better rating is due to a few factors. Like many reviewers before me have stayed, the nachos when I had them were made with cheese sauce. I absolutely abhorred these nachos. I am used to authentic nachos from other local taquerias and I threw most of them away. I hate to be snobby but it’s just a simple choice they made that could easily be avoided. Also mentioned in other reviews is their long wait time here. I’ve never waited 45 minutes at a taqueria until I came here on taco Thursday. I understand they’re busy but the way they handle phone calls and customer orders leaves a lot to be desired. Over all, I recommend going here and giving the tacos a shot with their red salsa. It’s one of my favorite things even if I have to deal with grissle and long wait times. Just stay away from the nachos and try not to come at dinner time for the sake of your sanity.

It does pain me a bit to do this, but I must update this review to reflect on the last handful(5 or so) times that I have eaten Sol Azteca. Because it is(was!) one of my favorite local taquerias, I’ve kept giving this place chance after chance, even when they’ve been regularly screwing up order after order. At this point, they need this feedback in order to make necessary improvements. You see, I usually call in and grab a larger order for pickup, to take home to the family. I typically spend about $ 50+ when I do this. I probably do this at least once a month. Over the last six orders, five of them have not been complete when I returned home with my bags of food. A couple of times there have been items missing from the combo orders. At least four times, the orders had incorrect type of tortillas(flour vs corn) or COMPLETELACKOFTORTILLAS which really kind of sucks when you have several orders of fajitas on the table, waiting to become filling in a delicious hot tortilla… OHWAIT there are none! Right… And EVERYSINGLETIME we get our usual order of four combo plates, there is one bag of literally 15 – 20 chips(¼ full)!!! I’m sorry but I think that is crazy to include only 5 chips per person in a take out order totaling over $ 50 and four full meals. Come ON. A few times I have asked for ‘Extra chips and salsas’(which I’m happily willing to pay for), and to my dismay, they send out THESAMEBAG of 15 – 20 chips, and two tiny plastic ramekins of salsa!!! So why haven’t I complained before now, or called the restaurant to let them know, or returned to pickup the rest of the orders? Well, that’s all just inconvenient enough for me not to do it. Think about it, I would have had to drive back five times just recently! Plus, I’ve kind of been giving Sol Azteca the benefit of the doubt, going back and every time thinking that they have certainly checked my order as so many orders go out per day, the other times they were screwed up were simply coincidental? After tonight, I have realized that this is now a regular thing. Tonight was kind of the last straw, as I came in to order pickup – expecting a bit of a wait(maybe 15 min). The gentleman at the counter did warn me it would be ‘at least’ 20 minute wait. This was after I was rung up and signing the credit slip. OK, fine, I already paid. OH my goodness, I sat there for over 40 minutes waiting for my food to come up, as did several other customers who were getting even more antsy than I was! I just sat there getting crankier and crankier KNOWING that my sweetie was at home waiting and was probably even hungrier than I, AND had previously chided me several times about returning to Sol Azteca, seeing as we have not been getting what we paid for recently. *Sigh* A guy who ordered AFTER me, asked the folks at the counter ‘how much longer’ and eventually got up and asked for a refund because he couldn’t wait any longer and felt he hadn’t been adequately warned of the wait time. Another woman was then up and asking what the heck was going on. The restaurant didn’t seem busy enough to warrant this kind of delay, even with dine in and take out orders. Finally my order came up! The man at the counter was apologetic as I jumped up to grab it, I said ‘no worries’ as I was excited to just get home and eat. I drive home envisioning my chicken fajitas wrapped in a warm tortilla… whilst making my peace with the fact that there were going to be about 7.5 chips per person between me and my boyfriend. ‘It will be fine, I don’t need those chips anyway’ I say to myself, to soften the blow. I get inside and we both tear into the bags like two rabid dogs. Steak fajitas, chicken fajitas… And yes, there are tortillas!!! Only, we open the foil wrapped tortillas to find just two flippin’ tortillas TOTAL. We both have huge piles of meat and veggies in front of us!!! Grrrrr. No more. ‘I told you so’ he says. I couldn’t disagree. On top of that, my chicken was downright nasty, all dark meat with lots of gristly bits. Yuck! Notice, I didn’t give one star, for was is clearly a one-star experience as of late. Because in very recent days, I have raved about the food and customer service here. So, I do feel that if some attention is given to the current processes in customer service and food quality, that Sol Azteca has potential to do better!

Went looking for Mexican food after 9pm and shocker… not many options! Found this place on Unilocal and what a find it was! Me: Pupusas! Great pupusas! Not greasy at all and the cheese just oozed beautifully. Chile relleno was also very fresh tasting and quite good but I didn’t care too much for the sauce. Rice and beans were both straightforward. Hubby: Taco salad was very filling and the shell was crispy fresh. He got ground beef. So many complain about«bland» but there are some who just like the flavor of the meat as it is and my hubby is one of those. He loved his meal. Hands down, one of the friendliest staff we’ve enjoyed. Maybe he was just happy the day was coming to an end but he took great care of us and we are grateful. Can’t wait to return!

Best mojarra frita hands down. The rice is really good, large portions, reasonably priced and their salsas are great too! Friendly staff, they take over-the-phone orders to go, and had my order ready on time. Zero waiting. Awesome service!

Came here on vacation with some friends who love the joint. I’m a big fan of a giant burrito, and the one I had here was pretty decent. Not the best I’ve ever had, but not bad, either. I would have loved some additional hot sauces, too.

The ingredients are incredibly fresh. I particularly love the fish tacos. The service is friendly, but they are a tad slow. I spent way too much for two tacos and a tostada. So they are not cheap eats, but not too out of line with surrounding places. It’s very convenient to Sonoma State.
