I’m really thrilled that Rolla has a Thai restaurant because there isn’t much here. & the best perk is it’s actually good. We nearly always get the pad thai– it’s very consistent and delicious. We also always get the spring rolls– refreshing and healthy.

I am a huge fan of Thai food and have had a lot of Thai places from many different states. What a surprise to find some pretty good Thai food in Rolla, Missouri. The service was great and the food came out quickly. I’m happy and satisfied customer and will definitely be back. Tom Yum soup was on point. Authentic Thai food. You won’t find better Thai food anywhere nearby.

LOVE this place!!! Whenever I am in Rolla for business I eat here. Basil shrimp and Thom Ka with chicken or shrimp is amazing. Excellent service too. I am gluten free(newly) and the waiter went out of his way to make a copy of the menu with notations on items that are gluten free. This is well beyond average service. I highly recommend this place. It is my go-to Thai in Rolla!

Delicious Thai cuisine in Rolla, MO, who woulda thunk it?! Traveling with the fam from Upstate NY to spend Thanksgiving with family in Springfield, MO, we decided to hop on Unilocal to find a place to sit down and eat. We love Thai food, and after perusing a few reviews and checking to see that it wasn’t far off I44, we decided to stop here. So glad we did! Walking in, we were greeted by a wrangler jeans clad server,(Jason, who was a sweetheart), and country music. Nothing wrong with either of those things, but I admit it had us feeling skeptical about the food. For naught! We shared the spring roll appetizer, which we both enjoyed very much. Perfect amount of cilantro! Sweet and spicy dipping sauce! Crushed peanuts! Yum. My husband ordered Phou soy(sp?) which was a blend of yellow curry/chicken soup topped with fried wontons at a spice level 3. He loved it; «not too thin, the noodles were a nice vehicle for the flavors. Amazing.» I ordered the yellow curry with vegetables, spice level 2. One of the best yellow curries I’ve had. I found the potatoes to be just slightly undercooked for my taste, but to be honest, I almost always find that to be the case when eating a dish like this. I kick myself every time for not asking to nix them upfront. Luckily, there were plenty of other vegetable(carrots, broccoli, onions, mushrooms), so I wasn’t left wanting. Yes! Our two year old is on a strict request and immediately reject diet, so I can’t really speak to her enjoyment of the food. She did enjoy stacking the sugar packets. And two of the three Andes chocolate mints at the end of our meal. Delicious food, delightful service. What a treat you have here, people of Rolla!

actually more like 3.5 stars I, for one, am just so grateful there even IS a Thai restaurant within 30 miles of home. I’ve had excellent Thai around the US(but never been to Thailand so don’t ask me as to authenticity) and while it’s not the best, it certainly fits the craving and as others have noted a welcome respite from so many chains. I’ve been about 3 times, but I usu. hit town on Mondays when they’re closed. gai gra pao(sp?) is my point of reference and they did a rather good job(needed more basil), the spring roll had the right texture. the green curry could have used a bit more depth, but I rationed and savored my leftovers for days as I don’t make it anywhere near any SE Asian place very often. Drunken noodles had a nice balance. I appreciate the use of a 1 – 5 rated heat level as the usual mild, medium, hot can mean so many many things, their 3 is usually enough to create a nice scalp sweat for me w/o need of relief. service has been cheerful and fairly quick, but then I’ve only been for mid-late lunches. they do get a bit stingy on some ingredients like basil, galangal, lemongrass etc and run out later in the week, the FB page explained they’re closed Mondays for a roadtrip to STL to restock things like that, I think I posted on their FB page the idea of growing herbs in hydroponics by the windows, it’s not like K’Hwy is all that picturesque anyway. the room could use some serious sound abatement, but that’s true for just about anywhere these days. now if Rolla could just get a good VN place as well I’d have even more reasons to loiter around there…

Really excellent Thai food. Better than one would often find in smaller towns like Rolla. Not too far off the highway and easy to do in a side trip if you’re travelling down I-44. My waiter was really attentive, the atmosphere is nice and the food was spiced perfectly. Yes, I’ll almost certainly come again when down this way.

So, so, so very glad for Sawadee Thai. We just moved here from the Bay Area(seriously, there’s a Thai restaurant on every block in some neighborhoods) and were legitimately concerned about getting our Thai fix. I mean, we make a pretty mean pad see ew, but sometimes it’s just too. much. work. Plus, Thai ingredients are hard to come by here(gotta go to Springfield or STL) so this all works out. We had the pad thai(really, the litmus test of a Thai restaurant) and I think a massaman curry. It doesn’t matter, they were both REALLYGOOD. The portions were generous, so we got nearly two meals out of it(you’d be lying if you said leftover thai for breakfast isn’t amazing). Not only was the food remarkable(especially for Rolla), the staff was really good. They were all pleasant and attentive, without being fake or annoying. They just seemed geniunely happy and as if they enjoyed working together. I can’t wait for the next time we’re in the mood for Thai — I’m really looking forward to trying their other dishes, and am happy to support this kind of diversity in our dining options!
