Velocity Cycling Indoors

Loved our class at Velocity! We were visiting for the holidays and really enjoyed our Thanksgiving Day ride! There are several things that set this studio apart from other cycling studios. First, the large projector screen. This definitely helped me get through the class. Not only did it make me feel like I was taken away on a European bike tour, but the instructor included song ‘breaks’ with artists (ours was Leon Bridges) that were the perfect moments to grab a sip of water and reset your mind for the next phase of hill or intervals. Second, the real feel of the bikes. It really felt like I was on a REAL bike with slight give to either side, perfectly weighted so I never felt out of control. Third, a real emphasis on resistance. The class is designed so you can push yourself with as much resistance as possible, but you can tailor riding to the beat of the music to your level. It was my first class and I never once felt like I «wasn’t doing things right» or «didn’t get the hang of it». The instructor, Lisa, was motivational and rode the entire class — so she truly understood moments of ‘red zone’ activity we went through and didn’t just crack the whip walking around the room like other classes I’ve experienced. Fruit at the end of class was a nice touch! Overall, great community of riders and a refreshing work out! Don’t hesitate!

I did this class with a friend and had such a good time! It is a different feel than other spin classes but very fun. The bikes were definitely the best I’ve used out of any other class I’ve done. The instructor was enthusiastic and upbeat. I would recommend to others!

Top-​of-​the-​line bikes, a phenomenal instructor, and an overall fantastic atmosphere make Velocity, THE place to spin!
The Bikes: I’ve never seen bikes like these! Easily accessible tension wheels, several different combinations of grips for comfort and different positions, dual-​sided pedals so you can click or strap-​in, and best of all, the bikes have a lean and turn functionality that lets you work your abs and obliques and works your balancing muscles by simulating real movements on a bike (e.g. the lateral sway you get from standing up from the saddle and pedaling real hard like up an incline). I don’t remember the name/​model of the bikes but suffice to say I’ve never seen anything like them.
The Instructor: I had the pleasure of riding with Lisa who also co-​owns the studio and never have I met somebody so understanding, friendly, patient, and motivating. I’m not an athletic body type by any means so the learning curve was slightly steeper for me than I would assume is for most individuals but she was helpful in not only getting started, but keeping me motivated and focused on the workout. By helping me focus on my individual fitness level, Lisa allowed me to take things at my own pace all the while pushing myself to reach my own threshold.
The Studio: The location was awesome! Built into an old rustic mill, the studio had beautiful hardwood floors and exposed brick walls. Lisa chose from a database of over a hundred different rides that came on display from an overhead HD projector in clear view of all the spinners! Fans helped keep everyone at a good temperature without getting cold and the music was a great mix played over a surround sound system according to the cadence we were riding at the time. The studio had shoes, towels, and water for the workout and a sitting area to get ready for the ride. Everything was clean, new, and well organized!
When I rode there were a handful of others that varied pretty vastly in skill level but it was obvious that everybody was having a good time and getting a great workout too. I will definitely be coming back again — Thanks Lisa!
