I’m one of those unfortunate souls who tends to develop an allergic rash every May. I’m not kidding, it’s like clockwork. For three years running, I have depended on the folks at Urgent Care to get me sorted out. As I’m sure you will agree, there is nothing inherently pleasant about your body being covered in itchy hives and welts that make it impossible to sleep, move, or breathe without wanting to cry. Nor is there usually anything especially grand about sitting in a waiting room, lifting your shirt to expose your ridiculously puffy skin to others only to hear their horrified gasps of sympathy, and dropping your pants to get a steroid shot in yer arse. But I will say this. The facility is always spotless and is staffed by incredibly friendly people who actually smile at you. That rarely happens anymore at medical offices! I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen, even when the parking lot is full. I’ve shown up at other doctors’ offices WITHAPPOINTMENTS and have had to wait up to an hour, but that isn’t an issue here. They’re efficient, but I never feel like I’m being rushed when I’m being seen. And best of all, they even let me pick which butt cheek I wanted my prednisone shot in today. Talk about empowering your patient!
