Decent comfort food. Most of their items are under seasoned. Their fried chicken was probably the best I’ve had. The biscuits and gravy is far from tasting home made. I’ve been here a couple of times where they’ve ‘forgotten’ to put in the cornbread in the morning. The meatloaf didn’t have much seasoning. Expect to wait a little while to get a seat(which makes you stand around in their country store and find other things to buy). The food is going to take a little while to come out as well. As I put above, its decent, but not great. Make sure you’ve got an hour free when coming, otherwise, you’re not going to have enough time.

I went here for a Sunday morning brunch with my friend and her family. There was a 15 – 20 minute wait. They have seats and board games outside to keep you occupied for a while. This is a store + restaurant and I believe it is mostly sought after for breakfast or brunch only. The food was barely mediocre and the breakfast menu is small. The coffee was bland(tastes like hot water) which is typical of most«bottomless coffee» I guess. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy, the biscuit was better than my french toast but the gravy, in my opinion, had any flavour only because it was served hot. I heard the pancakes at this place are great, although I wouldn’t trust that based on my experience here so far. I ordered a blueberry and lemon crème stuffed french toast and it was soggy, overstuffed and sort of falling apart… they brought my dish’s sides(eggs & bacon) out way before the actual dish. The service was a mess. The waitresses were loud and condescending at times, it seemed like they forgot who ordered what dish and were clamoring around to fix it. All in all, the food here is nothing big, even bad some might say. It does have a large seating place so if you’re planning to go to brunch with a large group of people, this place is more likely to accommodate all of you. They have a store adjacent to the restaurant too. I think Cracker Barrel was trying hard to achieve the«wholesome, American countryside lifestyle» ambience. It didn’t really appeal to me but if you like that, you might have a much better experience here. Lastly, for brunch, it wasn’t very expensive. Each breakfast dish ranges from $ 9-$ 13. While the quality was severely mediocre, Cracker Barrel is an option if you’re looking for quick and easy brunches for a large group of people.

We enjoy the Cracker Barrel restaurants everywhere we go. The staff was friendly and courteous, and the food came quickly and was hot and delicious.

I called in my order for pick up and the cashier assured me my order would be ready in ten minutes. I walked in paid for my meal and a few minutes later the manager walks out with my hot order. The food was fresh, hot and timely. Thanks CB

One of my favorite things about coming here at Cracker Barrel is the southern comfort feel the restaurant preserves. I love how they incorporate a gift shop with some cool finds before you sit down and eat. This location in Romeoville has a less southern feel but the food doesn’t disappoint. I usually get the Sunday Homestyle Chicken which is a must if you ever eat here, but today I got the Southern Trout which was surprisingly very good! My recommended sides: Hash brown casserole Fried Apples Fried Okras The waitress was friendly but I’ve had better service at different locations.

The last two times I picked up food from here I was disappointed at the food and the service. A few weeks ago I order food, and by the time I walked out of the store from the time I ordered, about 55min had passed. The most frustrating part was I asked a guy to check on it 15min prior to receiving my order, and due to his half ass attempt, I had to ask him to check again. He puts a bit of effort in this time to find my order sitting on a counter cold. He tried to blame others, but I think once I approach him n request his help, he needs to be responsible for my order at that point. Yesterday, my food was on time. I probably showed up a few min after the 20min estimated time. The food wasnt horrible. I like Cracker Barrel, but the sausage is dry n over cooked. The bacon isnt the same thicker cuts it used to be, but is still good. Grits were good, biscuits were good, hashbrown casserole was good. I never expect a top notch fresh breakfast from a place like this, but a little more care n effort may go a lllonnnng way

This isn’t the closest Cracker Barrel to my house, but it’s the only one I tend to visit. Typically breakfast is the reason I/we go, and it’s the epitome of hearty, comfort cooking. They have the best bacon anywhere-you may want to ask for it to be well done if you like it that way. They also have the best fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, which I know sounds random, but is a favorite of mine. The other item that I enjoy are their pancakes-I’m the rare person who isn’t a big pancake, waffle or French toast eater, but I tend to finish what my boys don’t eat when here. The one item that isn’t exceptional is their gravy-pretty mediocre biscuits and gravy. Anyway, typically solid service at this location and you can always satisfy pretty much any breakfast craving in one visit.

I love Cracker Barrel. This is one of my favorite breakfast places to eat. This was by far the worst Cracker Barrel I have ever been to with the worst customer service. Everyone was rude. My waitress was terrible and the food was ok. I definitely would not recommend this location.

I like the little store before entering the restaurant. Pretty cool. Seating was fast but the first time my friend and I visited we had to look for a waiter to wait on us. They made up for the wait by giving us free drinks. The food needs to be a little more seasoned. It was ok. Just add a little salt and pepper to the food and its better. I actually came back the next day for breakfast and their pancakes were super yummy. They forgot my extra egg but it was all still pretty good.

Before I met my boyfriend I had never even been to a Crackle Barrel. I don’t know what it is about Crackle Barrel but him and all his friends love it. I think their food is pretty good so I’m not complaining. We came here on a weeknight to celebrate his friend’s birthday. I like that they have breakfast all day and ordered the French toast. I thought it was good but I wasn’t really blown away by it. Our waitress was nice but a little flustered. I’m sure I’ll be back sometime soon.

To start of i have to say me and my wife love cracker barrel… our choice when traveling. We stopped at this location on Thursday early afternoon before we got to the airport going to Las Vegas(yay), It wasn’t to busy which was nice but you expect service which we didn’t receive as normally we would. It took about 10 min before server even got to our table. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. We both recieved wrong drinks, so we let server know and she got us fixed drinks, food came out fairly fast but could of been faster since they were not busy, portions were smaller than I can remember at other locations. Eggs were little overcooked and already set inside(over easy). Overall we both experienced better service and food at other location.

Very busy night, kitchen was slow, food came luke warm at best but tasted okay. Didn’t want to send food back because of the long wait. Also had two young grandchildren with our party and they were getting antsy. Usually like Cracker Barrel but tonight i can only give two stars.

I usually go here with my mom for breakfast on Sundays. We always get seated within 10 minutes max. I have tried numerous things from their breakfast and lunch menus and I have never been disappointed. They usually have specials that might not be in their regular menu which is always great since I like to try different things. It gets busy but there are quite a few waitresses and waiters passing by with fresh coffee so that our coffee cup is never empty.

Had breakfast there this morning. I had the old timers breakfast and my wife had pancakes with blueberries on it. Both were very good and we enjoyed Cracker Barrel and the store. Even bought some things on sale in the store.

We stopped on our way home from Starved Rock. We ordered the sampler. It was so good! Meatloaf, Chicken and Dunplings and Baked Smoked Honey ham. We shared the meal. The food was hot and delicious. Just like it was cooked at home.

Fairly empty on a Sunday night but for some reason, service was slow… but very friendly. Ordered the grilled spicy catfish with baked apples and boiled cabbage(I know, but I like it!) Catfish was flavorful and properly cooked. The cabbage also had good flavor but was a little soggy.(I admit it was 8:30 so that might have contributed to that.) The cabbage has ham in it, so if you are a vegetarian, you will not be happy! The apples are always delightful and didn’t disappoint this time. Once my server arrived, things moved quickly and efficiently. The restaurant was clean on floor, tables and chairs and other surfaces. This is comfort food and not gourmet fare. It was great for what it is and any expectation of more is not fair to the restaurant. P. s. get the corn bread!

Stopped there yesterday and was disappointed. Ordered the luncheon pot pie but since it was about 3:00, the chicken pot pie was dry. Then they ran out of iced tea so we had to wait Ordered Apple desert and they brought the wrong one. This was after they tried to bring the desert in the middle of us still eating our meal. When they did bring the correct apple dumpling, it was raw on the bottom. They didn’t charge us for the desert but that was for the dry chicken pot pie. Can’t say the service was bad but not great either. Think it’s our last time here.

Right when you walk in there is a shopping area, from clothes to hats, kids games, to candles and candy. Seated right away and the waitress arrived shortly after. I ordered a Southern Cesar Chicken Salad. 10 minute wait. Light dressing and chicken was grilled just right.

Was here on Christmas Eve with my boyfriend, on a whim after hitting up some local stores for last minute shopping. I have visited this location many times in the past but not much in the last five years. Let me start by saying, the hostess was not listening at all. He went to the restroom and I asked her if I could wait for him as, to my surprise, we didn’t have to wait. She said, «I’ll tell him where you are.» Which I found odd since I’m not even sure she saw him. Anyway, I ask her for a table again a wall, I hate sitting in the center of the room, and this confused her beyond reason. Okay, she’s young, I’m seated, whatever. The real problem was the service. A surly woman comes to the table and asks what I want to drink, no introduction, no smile, no holiday spirit whatsoever.(I have worked in the Service industry, Christmas time equals big tips so you be as charming as you can.) I ordered us both a coffee and he came and sat down. It’s all downhill from here. She brings the coffee, asks us(?) If we want cream… um…yes. She brings 5 creamers and I kid you not, tosses them onto the table without a word and walks away. My boyfriend looks at me like huh? I say nothing. Just shrug. She comes back to get our order. I order the Holiday sampler because I’m in the holiday spirit and also greedy. She says«We’re out of fried apples.» I ask if they substitute anything for it. She seems irritated like I just asked her something incredibly ridiculous and says«No…I mean I guess they can…» So I’m thinking, you want me to pay the full price, for less food??? My boyfriend can see my eyes start to narrow and says«Order extra grits, I’ll eat them.» I do. I ask if my breakfast comes with apple butter. She says«It can.» You’d have think I ran over this woman’s dog with the way she was speaking to me. I’m pretty angry at this point. The food comes out. No apple butter. No extra grits. We have to explain the whole situation to the food walker. She sees us talking to her and asks what’s happening? I relay the info. Again. She stops by five minutes later to say«They have to make the grits.» Like I should feel guilty about receiving my order. When they do come, they are literally nauseating. Splashed all over the bowl, watery as hell. I took one look at that mess. NOPE. Last straw. She then comes back with the check. I hate this. We were still eating and it was not busy. I finally say, I need to speak to a manager. The manager comes up in apparent stealth mode and leans over me like he’s going to tell me a secret. I said, «Are you the manager?» Because again, no introduction. His name is Tony by the way. I won’t name her because maybe she was having an awful day. Or an awful life, I don’t know. He says he is and I told him I never in my life had considered not tipping someone at all up until that day. He seemed like what I was telling him did not at all surprise him. I said I didn’t want anything for free, but maybe he could remind her that it was Christmas Eve and innocent people do not deserve to be treated like garbage for no reason. He ended up comping the meal. And that is why I gave three stars. He took care of it without me demanding or expecting it. We won’t be going back to this one. The food was okay but I’m soured. I am not a demanding person, I don’t run service staff ragged and I always am polite and understanding. But this woman ruined the meal and the experience for me and was unapologetic. If not for the manager, this would have been a one star reveiw.(And yes, I left a 3 dollar tip, she didn’t deserve a cent, but it was Christmas Eve.)
