Mongo McMichaels

I have a different kind of review. I work for a company who is hiring a former employee of Mongo McMichaels and after days of our background check company trying to get a verification of employment and finally getting ahold of the manager, he says «I cannot do this» and hung up the phone. If you are going to be that rude to anyone, you can bet I won’t spend money at your place of business. Whoever is running that restaurant and their staff needs an attitude check.

Go there as often as I can. Steve and Steve run one hell of a fun establishment. Great food at a good price. Go Bears. Next year PLEASE!

This is my favriote Sports Bar. The food is all so good. I go to Mongos often. The salads are so fresh and tasty. The wings are nice size and always cooked to order. The pizza and sandwichs are delicious
Soups are all homemade. The tacos on wednesday are so good. All these items are prepared using only fresh and the finest ingrediants. The food is quality and good quantity. Mongos is always very clean and the staff is always very friendly. This is a great place to watch a Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Cubs or White Sox Games. The Sports Bar has alot on memorobilia of Steve McMichael, the Chicago Bears and all the other Chicago teams. Steve McMichael is always friendly and easy to talk to. A True 85 Superbowl Champ. This is the place that a true Bears Fan needs to visit. Mongos was featured on Chicagos Best with Britney Payton. A+++++++.

This is by far my favorite Chicago Bears Sports bar. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere screams Bear Down and it is always a great time when I stop in here. On most Sunday’s when the Bears are playing Mongo his self will be there or he will have another Member from the 85 team there to sign autographs and take pictures. If you’ve watched Mongo on sports shows, you’ll come to find his wild and crazy personality is true to life. It’s a great time to enjoy a game and possibly meet some awesome players from the team you grew up watching and cheered for to win the Super Bowl!
I will recommend all real Bears fans to pay Mongo a visit and make this place a must see!

Worst service ever. We came in, sat down and ordered drinks. The three of us. We ordered our drinks and were COMPLETELY ignored. In fact, our waitress was fully dressed and left with a coat on and walked out the restaurant. She never even told us she was leaving. She just left. So we sat there. No one at the register area. We were ignored for 20 mins. So we said «f» it. Let’s leave. So we walked out. Right before we got to the car, one of the bartenders came out and yelled «excuse me can you pay your tab» hey great! That got their attention. Lol of course walked back in and paid the tab and the owner tried to apologize and one of the bartenders said «next time ask for me» yeah fat chance! 4 drinks only 25 bucks not a bad price but the service was absolutely disgusting ! Won’t be coming back and definitely WILL NOT recommend this place to anyone. How could I?

Yesterday was my first visit to Mongo McMichaels — it will not be my last! 6 of us for dinner and everyone loves their food. Started ok with Nachos-​absolutely delicious! Then 3 of had the Philly cheese steak sandwich, 2 burgers and one Buffalo chicken wrap. Portions were huge and cooked just right. Very tasty. Mongo chips, onion straws and French fries rounded out our meal. Drinks were good and service was attentive! Priced right-​great value for your meal! We will be coming back!

Mongo’s is one of the best suburban bars to go and watch any Chicago sporting event! It’s huge with a giant square shaped bar, high top tables surrounding it and a family table seating area in front of the bar, separated by a wooden half wall.
Mongo is there on Sunday’s for Bears games and is hilarious with his stories. In addition to his opinion of our current bears team.
The pizza is rally good! The wings are also good as well as the southwest chicken wrap. I’m usually eating one of these!
Definitely a must visit if anywhere in the south burbs!

This was our very first time here on our date night. I told my hubby I wanted some good wings and he found this place online and I am so glad he did. Even though it was close to a 45 minutes drive for us from the city but it was definitely worth it.
I loved the atmosphere because it was roomy yet bright and NOT too loud where I had to scream to be heard. They had games going on each big screen TV and it went around the entire place.
The waitress I think her name was Karla? And she was fantastic. She took our orders without even needing to write it down. We ordered a few items and she went around to other tables checking on her customers before putting our orders in. My hubby and I was making bets if she would mess up our order but she did not miss a thing! Very impressive! We asked her to recommend what is good here and she said The Big Steve and wings which is what we ordered. I asked her to cut the burgers in half and she put it separately for us with some fries. She was a great waitress!
We ordered the New England clam chowder soup and that was the only bad thing about the dinner. It was super salty and too thick. Then we ordered 12 wings in mild with bleu cheese and they were fantastic! The wings were juicy and they were huge! It was hot and crispy and boy they were the best! Next we got the Big Steve and that burger was by far the best burger I had ever had in my life! The Angus steak was medium and so tender. The jalapenos makes the burger delicious with a kick. The crispy onion strips and cheddar cheese was great but the best part was the pulled pork inside. Wow!!! Who knew pulled pork with their signature sauce would be so good together! It was a great dinner and a wonderful experience. I would definitely be back again just for the burger and wings alone!

I ordered beef nachos and received everything but the nachos and cheese. My coworker picked up our order. I called and told them I didn’t receive the cheese and meat and was told they forgot to give it to her. I asked if they can deliver it and was told they don’t service my work area even though I ordered there the day before and other days. I asked for a refund and was told I would have to drive back there and return the lettuce and chips that I did get in order to get a refund. When I returned the manager nor receptionist at the door apologized. The manager didn’t even make eye contact or speak to me at all. Terrible customer service and even more horrible attitudes. I will never go there again!

So we’ve ordered from this place a few times, don’t get me wrong the food is pretty decent, but tonight was the last straw! I have ordered many things from here and everytime the delivery driver is late! And I don’t mean 10 – 15 minutes. Tonight we are talking an HOUR! I order this food for my lunch break at a new by refinery for my guys and myself to enjoy on our night shift, but when I call at 9:33pm and you tell me 11pm is not a problem and at 11:20 I have to call you! You tell me ur driver left just a few minutes ago, then at 11:38 ur driver calls me, and tells me he has had to remake the food, as it was cold, and that he wouldn’t be leaving until the food is remade. Ok I understand people are humans, but call from the beginning. So I call the manager to complain and the only thing she can tell me is that there was a mistake and that they were here, at different gates, but didnt deliver mine. What the… That makes zero sense! So needless to say, I will not be ordering from them again for awhile until they can sort out these issues, not the first one I’ve had, but it’ll be the last one until they can figure a better delivery system out.

I usually like the burgers from this place but after what I encountered I will never be eating one here again. I went in when there was a Blackhawks game which was very frustrating to have a good time with my fiancé since there was a loud annoying buzzer every time they scored. Besides that the waitress was a little rushed to get done with her shift not only that but after I ordered my burger, my burger was literally not cooked !!! I had eaten half when I noticed that it didn’t taste right and felt nauseous. Open it and realize the patty not cooked at all. By any means I said median rare not raw. They offered me a half price discount. The what seemed to be manager or man in charger came over asked what’s wrong saw the burger and said «he already ate half» and took it, the waitress offered me another but I refused due to the loss of appetite. Never again. I shouldn’t have paid.

Worst. Customer. Service. Ever.
Normally, I leave the reviews to others. If I like a place I don’t bother, figuring it was good enough for others to comment and mine wont add much. However, in the case of Mongo Mcmichaels I had to lift up my voice. Before I go any further though, I want to make sure to mention that the bartenders/​servers were great. They were friendly and courteous and seemed to really care about their customers.
However, if you are thin skinned, or don’t like confrontation, don’t bother to complain about the food, because not everyone who works there understands customer service. I ordered their Mongo’s Platter. The platter includes boneless wings, onion fries, fried jalapenos and nachos. It sounded good, I really wanted wings, but since the platter had other items I decided to order it. I specifically ordered it with dry wings, no sauce. The bartender/​server, who was very courteous and efficient, made sure to order it that way. Nonetheless, my order arrived with wings covered in sauce. Actually, it looked as though they had been sauced, then someone tried to remove the sauce — it was very thin and only present in the crevices of the fried breading. I decided to eat them anyway, not wanting to make a fuss. Then I tried the nachos. The ground beef was not very tasty. There is some sort of a sauce or season they put on it that reminded me of something, not sure exactly what, but I didn’t like it.
Anyway, the server came by and asked how it was. I was honest and told her, the wings weren’t done correctly and the nachos just didn’t taste good. She offered to take them back and after some discussion I agreed. Lo and behold, the old guy from the kitchen came back out with the plate of food. At first he came to me and said that he just wanted to know what was wrong, but he quickly digressed from that to outright complaining to me about not being happy with it. He was not interested in what I had to say, he just wanted to bitch about it. I was appalled. Never have I been so rudely treated, indeed, I have never seen anyone else so rudely treated in a public place. There are lots of places in the area, and before I go back to this one, I will try them all.

Nice and quite. Good food and pool tables are open and in good working order. Here in a Thursday night before good Friday and it’s not empty but not busy either.

One of the more enjoyable gathering spots I can think of. Our waitress Katrina was wonderful. True quality service and the food experience was way above average. Lunch with a friend and an appetizer $ 30, including 2 great brewed iced teas.
My calzone for under $ 8 was redunkulous and includes 3 items. The size of a football and delicious. Their Southwest Egg Rolls were great and friend enjoyed a well stuffed Ruben. His side salad was just that… took over the hole right side of his dish.
Certainly could see coming here during a sporting event. Lots of Mongo swag, forgot about his wrestling days, as a Championship Belt adorns the walls here too.

I cannot even rate this place 1 star! Our server Melissa was absolutely the worst server I have ever seen. She argued with us about her mistake and blamed us the customer. What server on the plant thinks this is acceptable? You are called a Server. You serve people. That is literally your job. The manager did nothing to remedy the situation but made snarky unacceptable comments herself! This place is not worth the time. First off when I ordered blue cheese crumbles the server said they did not offer them. Which they do on the menu! Weird. Then said «this is a buffalo chicken salad «when I ordered a bqq. When I corrected her she said «oh yea it’s bbq» she had NO idea what she was doing. And on top of it she told me it would take 30 mins for them to fix it!!! To fix a SALAD? Absolutely appalling. Never eat here. Terrible establishment.

Friend went in to do the (insanely easy) 1lb burger challenge so I tagged along. Got the Big Steve Burger. Wasnt all that flavorful even with shoe string onions, pulled pork, fried jalapeños, and jack cheese which surprised me. My friend destroyed the challenge before I was even finished with my own burger. Not a place I would go out of my way for, but not a place I would avoid.

It’s a nice place bar/​tavern for family, friends, or dates. Came here on a Saturday night. Didn’t wait long. Sat ourselves. Was a little confused about this. Didn’t really know were to sit. Didn’t want to sit in a table for 4 but didn’t want to walk around the place looking for a table for 2. So we choose what we saw first.
The waitress was sort of attentive but also felt a little too attentive. If there is such a thing. Felt rushed. Like she was rushing our order and drinks and check (etc.)
Wished they had a larger craft beer selection.
We had cheese burger with fries. It was a good portion. Burgers were ok. Won’t complain. Printed out a $ 5 coupon online and didn’t pay much for 4 beers and 2 burgers. Pretty good deal.
Lots of tvs a but not of a variety on each. I guess not many games on at a time.
Will come again. Good experience.

Waitress was great. Good ok. 1 bartender working restaurant and a group party. That creates many issues. Bad management. I likely will not go back.

Been there twice. The first time the waitress was ok but had to come back a couple of times because they kept running out of things we ordered. Felt bad for her.
The last time the bartender asked us to leave at 11 because they wanted to close early. I thought that was rude.

Great venue to watch a game. There are TV’s everywhere and great seats around and near the bar or in the large dining room. The service was great — so friendly and very attentive even with the large crowd.
We tried the Bourbon Style boneless wings — much like a processed «nugget» but the sauce was very tasty. The drink specials included a Bloody Mary made with 3 different liquors and it was delicious!
Their pizza is excellent — crispy crust, gooey cheese and lots of tasty toppings — we tried a sausage and a veggie and we loved them both. We also tried a few desserts, I was too full to eat any but the others raved about them.
The highlight of the afternoon was getting to meet Steve «Mongo» Mcmichael, who came by to watch the game. He is super nice, graciously took pictures and talked with us — at first I thought he must be the draw for this place until we had the food — now we know it’s both! We will return and being fiends!
