RIP-OFF! We tried to reserve a room for the park, sleep, fly option. The Choice Hotel’s reservation website booked us for check-in on the current day in September, not the day that we were looking to stay in November. This was clearly evident by our specified request to park from November 1 – 8. After being billed a month too early, we noticed the mistake and called to fix the problem. Not only did the manager not allow us to switch our room date for the stay, but he would not allow us to park on the specified dates, either– which we had already paid for! He then suggested that we re-book the room with his hotel at a discounted rate– trying to pass it off as a great deal. Unlike other reviews, I have no complaints about the cleanliness or sanitation of the rooms, but the customer service and courtesy is severely lacking. I will never stay here again.

There is no elevator here and the hotel lets capable people fill the rooms on floor one, leaving disabled people to fend for themselves. The desk associate(Jody?) was not only useless, but she was also very, very rude. It is unacceptable to not hold a first floor room for the handicapped.

I was pretty hard on this place with my first stay. No elevators but only two floors– just request a room on the first floor if you dont want to haul your luggage up the stairs. I’ve had to use this hotel more than what I care for but it’s always available when I need a cheap and close to airport place to stay and rest my little head before work the next day. The rooms definitely need some updating and very thorough cleaning but once again– it serves it’s purpose for a one nighter stay. Would not recommend if you’re coming to Detroit(for whatever god forsaken reason) to vacation. The 5 stars is all about the staff and their great customer service — from the shuttle drivers, front desk and bar/restaurant staff to their wonderful cleaning ladies. It serves it’s purpose– that is all!

For the crew rate they offer, I cannot complain that much. Breakfast is included, so that’s the second star. I lived here for a week when I first moved to MI. I never want to go back. No elevator, so if you’re on the second floor, be prepared to lug your bags up a few steps. Security is lax. The back door where the entrance to the second floor is always seems to be propped open and/or unlocked. Fitness center leaves much to be desired, but at least there’s a treadmill and some weights. Shuttle service can be a little sketchy. Never seems to arrive at the airport to pick you up when they say they will. If you don’t call, they tell you that you need to call for a pickup. And if you do call, they tell you that the shuttle runs every 30mins(or something of the like). The hallways make you feel like you’re in the Twilight Zone and the rooms are older. Makes me think of The Shining as I’m settling in for bed. Sleep on that one.

Whew! Well, this is one that cautiously asks, where do I begin. Let me paint you the picture. First off, the overwhelming odor of paint fumes fill the air. They must have or are in the process of repainting the rooms. I can only imagine their condition prior to it. Think twice about not being on the first floor. Should the need for a room for a physically challenged individual be required, this is NOT the place to stay. They do not have an elevator so you are forced to carry all of your belongings up a flight of stairs to the second floor. For those who are scared of heights, don’t worry, they only have 2 stories and you could probably jump out the window and be just fine. Did I mention the windows. This will give you an idea of just how old this property is as the windows still open. So, if the police should come beating at your door, for which I do believe this place might attract questionable activity, you would be able to escape out the window and get away. Now for the interior accommodations, let me see. Picture this, late 70’s early 80’s furniture, lamps with shades that are some form of white/yellow/brown, not too sure. A bed that has more miles on it than all the space shuttle trips combined along with a bedspread, which I immediately removed and stuffed into the corner which I hope and pray something doesn’t come crawling out from under it and attack me. The bathrooms are early 80’s appointed. I am surprised that they didn’t have the individually wrapped plastic cups on the toilet for your drinking pleasure. There was a newer curtain rod for the shower that bends outward giving more space for taking a shower. My phone that sat on the table had a crossed out number, which was nothing close to the room I was in, and had a hand written number which again was nothing even close to my room or even my floor. The patchwork quilt carpeting apparently has been mended as a result of who knows what being spilled or damaged by merely cutting out the effected area and a new piece put in its’ place, hence the title«Patchwork Quilt Carpeting». If you are looking for a one night place to lay your head for a few hours at what I’m guessing is a reasonable rate, God willing, then this might be for you. As I said in the beginning, being a Flight Attendant, I stay in hundreds of hotels throughout the year and on occasion displaced into hotels such like this just reminding me that there is something for everyone out there.
