Very friendly and courteous staff! They have lots of goodies to munch on in the country store. Anything from mustards and salsas to flavored oils, and cheese! The wine was super delicious as well. Brought home a bottle of Seyval Blanc, a semi-dry wine with a clean, crisp taste. Can’t wait to return for another tasting

Visiting Varick is always a blast, largely because of the incredible array of free samples available right when you walk in the door. We often visit via boat and wind up starving by the time we walk in. Salsas, jams, dips, olive oils, pickles, and more! It’s a downright feast. The wine is good too. Nothing particularly memorable, but the tastings are extra fun because every wine is paired with a different snack! Plan accordingly, folks.

I went to Varick on 8÷20÷15. In full disclosure one of my pet peeves is when wineries add too many chotockies(most of the time that don’t match a winery). Varick has found a nice balance between offering/selling items(mainly items for cooking) that are connected to wine. The wine tasting was the only one I came across which was is compliment by food and sauces(many of the same products they sell). In a nutshell I really enjoyed the tasting experience and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Wine tastings, plenty of wines, pickle tastings, olive tastings(yuck! — though my girlfriend loves it), barbecue sauce tasting, salsa tasting, dressing tasting, honey tasting, olive oil tastings… Holy cow! All brought together by an energetic guy that paired every tasting perfectly with a food(cheese, chocolate, coffee, peanut butter…). Plus views of the lake from the front porch and the wine’s worth drinking!!! Not to be missed!

Good wine, freaking awesome buffet of snacky snacks. They do it right in the samples department, which has a direct relationship in how much you purchase.

If you feel in the mood for a bit of wine-snobbery, drive on! But if you’d like to stop in, taste a half-dozen quaffable wines for $ 4 and then graze your way through literally dozens of dips, sauces, condiments, pickles, olives, crackers, and jams, this is the place for you! If you’re not keen on rubbing elbows(literally) with other guests, arrive early – things get a little crowded in the afternoon, particularly on weekends.(They open very early and stay open rather late – something like 9:30 — 6. Google it to be sure.) We visited in the midst of a snow squall, but friends assure us that it’s particularly pleasant in summer to sit on their front deck or have an impromptu picnic at the tables they provide. We’ll be back in July to check it out – the snow may be gone by then.

My cousin and I stopped here on a lark — I’d never heard of it and we weren’t even sure it was open. But we were so glad we did! As other reviewers have stated, this place is more than just their wines. And while most of these Finger Lakes wineries have a selection of ‘gourmet’ accoutrements, we were blown away by those offered here — and particularly because they made such fantastic pairings with their wines. In truth, neither of us were wowed by any of their wines — but when paired with their suggestions of chocolates, BBQ sauces, and other goodies, Varick really shines. They had an INCREDIBLE selection of flavored olive oils, and in particular we loved the bacon and mesquite flavors. I will go here again!

Varick Winery(formerly Cobblestone) is one of the must-visit wineries on the wine trail. In addition to some very nice wines, they have a huge array of miscellaneous local specialties that you can try before buying. They have items like habanero pickles, pickled mushrooms, salsas, hot sauces, infused oils, etc. You can taste as many as you want. It was not very crowded when we visited, though I understand that it can get quite busy on the weekends. We had a nice, leisurely wine tasting and ended up buying a bottle of wine and a jar of hot pepper relish.

Wow, this place was a madhouse when I visited. Granted, it was July 4th, but the tasting room was insane, and our pourer was clearly high on the atmosphere(maybe the wine too). Their wines were all good, some above average, none really stood out as being excellent. The sheer madness of the tasting room took away from the experience a bit. People were out in the cherry tree orchard madly picking cherries; they also use their cherries for a semi-sweet cherry wine which I tried(I didn’t pick that wine as one to try, but the pourer insisted). They love pairing their wines with various sauces, butters, salad dressings, relishes, jams, chutneys, oils and rubs here. You actually walk away from the tasting bar to the tables with the sauces and crackers to pair your wine pour with the food. The tastings are generous and the people working here are so enthusiastic you can’t help but like it. As for the wine, the chardonnay stuck out as my favorite here and the price was right($ 13). All other wines are adequate to good.
