You can rarely find any healthy food in airports and I wish this place was in every airport. The food I’ve tried is all outstanding(soups, salads, charcuterie board) and the wine is great too. It’s so nice to find a little jewel like this to help you unwind on a layover.

This place is great! Layovers in Detroit will be so much more fun now that I know this place exists. Wine prices are reasonable and the service is great. I had a flight, the charcuterie board and chocolate cake. The wine was great(of course), and the charcuterie board was impressive. Much better than I anticipated! The bread was toasted perfectly, I always hate when places over toast the bread so it rips the roof of your mouth. The ingredients seemed like they were good quality, too. The chocolate cake was super rich and divine. My server even brought me a little bit of a porter they serve to have with it. It was awesome!

These are terrific spots to hide out in while on a long layover in an airport. I recently was able to enjoy the solitude of Vino Volo in Detroit’s Macnamera Terminal. I was greeted within minutes of seating myself, and ordered the truffle mac and cheese. Clearly this is reheated in the back, it is some of the better food available in an airport. The portion size is very small(they are small plates), so I waited and ordered the roasted tomato soup drizzles with crème fraîche. This too was very good. The 4 stars is not so much for the food, but for the whole package. The attentiveness of the server, the food quality(for an airport), and the wine recommendations that paired perfectly with my small plates. If you have never been to a vino volo, make sure to check one out.

I really love this chain — it’s a great place for me to chill when I am stuck in an airport such as Detroit Metro. The set-up is somewhat small, but there is a decent amount of wine and there are various snacks and entrees to choose from, as well as a few desserts. Their charcuterie board has a good selection, just ask for extra bread/crackers. I don’t know how often the meat and cheese options rotate, but I don’t think anyone could go wrong with this. It’s all good! I like their wine flight options, but if you travel a lot, and you find yourself at Vino Volo often, your selections are quite slim. The service at the three Vino Volos I’ve been to, are pretty much the same — servers weren’t overly attentive, but you don’t have to wait long for some assistance. Their wine selection is worth trying and if you have some time to kill, I’d definitely be heading to Vino Volo.

Based on one visit Service was friendly and brisk, they were excellent at serving quickly, as is ideal in an airport setting Wine selection was broad and interesting, they had interesting flights(e.g., Oregon wines, French reds, bargain reds, etc.) as well as wines available individually by the glass as well as many available by the bottle. Flights were offered with informative tasting notes, and I felt they were fairly priced and enjoyable Food on the other hand was more of a miss, though I did only try one dish: the pork taco(yes, singular). Maybe I’ve been spoiled by LA, and after all this *is* Detroit, and an airport no less, but it could have been much better: for $ 5, the single pork taco was rather small and wan, with dry meat, lackluster sauce, and a forgettable mass-produced corn tortilla. I understand however that this was just one experience, and perhaps it’s unreasonable to expect too much, esp when the food is prepared so quickly to travelers on a time crunch. Still, I’d consider trying other dishes, or eating elsewhere and focusing on the wine experience here which is clearly their strength

A great«go-to» at the airport. Vino Volo is at most airports I’ve been to. Almost always on business travel. There is room to sit by yourself or with one other person, room to plug your laptop or cell phone in, and a decent menu for a decent price. Cheese plates, sandwiches, salads, deserts, and snacks. And of course … Stellar wine list! Staff knows you’re probably there to work while you wait for your flight and leaves you alone but checks on you enough to order more if desired.

I was stuck in DTW for a 3.5 hour layover and found thud gem with reasonably priced wine. I charged my phone while I sat comfortably in a chair and enjoyed my generous glass of wine.

Nice place to be for a drink and a bite to eat before flights. They have the comfy chair which is hard to find in airports. Also the food is good as well as the selection of wine. Don’t expect a full range of wine selection but you will find its better, way better than standard airport affair. The lamb meatballs are dry, so if you have high expectation don’t do it. The cheese board does deliver. I like the fact they use the good fig jam from Croatia which is my fav. Happy traveling!

I’m a loyalty member and unfortunately the kitchen is very slow this evening. The place is half empty & it took 20 mins to get a Sandwhich

Thank you Vino Volo for the airport food oasis! Thoroughly enjoyed the signature salmon rolls and the hearty kale salad.

Such a calm, relaxing spot in the airport. And right next to the massage place. Great selection of wines from around the world. The char board comes with 3 cheeses and 3 meats, with dried apricots, cranberries, nuts, jam and pickles. A great place to relax.

As good as it gets in an American airport. Great wines selections and tasty small plates. Don’t waste your time with anything else in DTW(or any other American airport for that matter!). If you download their app you can get tastes of some unique wines for a good price. Nice ambiance, especially for an airport. Reminds me of some of the better airports abroad that know how to do it.

This place was an oasis at the airport. The seats were really comfortable. We needed that. The wine is overpriced, but that’s expected. Even so, a couple glasses of wines in the lower priced categories and some relaxing conversation in comfortable seats. It was all good.

Very fast service for those connecting at Detroit airport and looking for a variety of wines and food. Quite small restaurant but great from the fast food choices. The salmon rolls were very very good and I would recommend.

Definitely the best food and drink option in Terminal A… it’s located across from Gate A46. Prices are reasonable for food and wine… especially when considering its at the airport. Everything is tasty… the food options range from lamb meatballs to smoked salmon rolls to chicken sandwiches and more. Good music too. Definitely check it out! I wouldn’t waste my time with any other food options in that terminal.

I’m a frequent traveler and a sucker for great airport restaurants. On a recent stop in Detroit, the Unilocal reviews sent me to Vino Volo(across from A46) with little hesitation. Vino Volo, while nice, can’t compete with my all-time favorite airport dining option: Atlanta’s One Flew South. My obsession with OFS required some«getting over» to embrace the Vino Volo experience because they’re quite different. At Vino Volo, you’ll enjoy an impressive wine list and a severely limited menu. There’s no doubting the fact that you’re in an airport restaurant. It’s tough to miss the signs. Like the waitstaff’s name badges, the fact that everyone’s tapping on iPads, and the omnipresent rollerboard bags. But, it’s definitely a step up from the nearby Chili’s Too. The menu is, as I said, limited. I asked about the Roasted Lamb Meatballs and was gruffly told they were out. I opted, instead, for the«signature» Salmon Roll, which was not so much a roll as smoked salmon and crab meat on a cracker. It was really good. And incredibly fast. In fact, I think it arrived in front of me milliseconds before I’d completed my order. While I didn’t try them, the wine flights look interesting and would be an opportunity to try something new, which is definitely a worthwhile endeavor while on the road. Isn’t that the benefit of travel?! Let’s face it, expectations are dulled when eating in an airport so my four stars would be three in the real world. The«real world» is defined as someplace other than an airport.

As far as airport food, five stars all the way. Vino Volo is my go to food/wine stop if I’m ever at the airport. While the food menu is small, everything I’ve ever had was delicious. My go-to is the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The place itself has a nice ambiance and serves as a quiet getaway from airport noise, at least for a little while. The wine flights are delightful and pretty reasonably priced in my opinion. As an extra bonus, the staff at the Detroit Vino Volo were extra friendly and seemed to know most of the customers, almost like your neighborhood bar.

DETROITAIRPORT: I love Vino Volo: nice ambience, comfortable seating, tables and nice servers, and the food is great. It’s my little airport oasis anywhere I go where they have a lease. The charcuterie board is good, the soups are good, the fish is good(salmon bruschetta) and the macaroni and cheese is awesome. Portions are a little small so bring your wallet. I can’t comment on the wine, but they have many bottles, one is sure to be good.

Detroit Airport is on the Nice List! After chilling here for an hour I’m sure Detroit Airport asked Santa for a kick ass place that would level all other airport drinkeries and eateries and I see it was handsomely rewarded. Well done Santa, well done. I can see myself arriving early here just to stop in. I had the brie and proscuitto on ciabata with fig preserves, OMG Vo-licious!!! To go with they had flights of all colors, flavors and price ranges. I selected was the«South of the Equator» and it was fantastic. But here is the kicker… It’s affordable! They have half portions of all the food and the flights were between $ 10 – 15. I got outta there for only $ 18. That’s unheard of for airport eatering! Merry Vino to all and to all a good flight!
