My family and I had the very unpleasant experience of choosing this particular restaurant because it was located right next to our gate. When we first sat down at an area large enough for our party of five, we noticed the tables were covered in pieces of food, dirty dishes, and the floor was filthy. We should have left right then and there. Hunger and convenience won over moving ourselves and our bags to another restaurant in the airport. The waiter came over and wiped down our tables with a rag that left an ungodly smell behind. Wondering when the last time that rag was washed. Gross. We ordered: a hamburger, chicken tenders, a chicken wrap, two salads and a bowl of the soup of the day. They were out of the soup of the day… the waiter recommended their chili in place of the soup. He said there wasn’t much difference between the chili and the chicken tortilla soup. Really?!? Um, OK??? We received our food in under ten minutes. Clearly, this had all been run through a microwave and salads made previously(the day before? Two days before?) because IT. WAS. NASTY. The salads had very limp lettuce. Like, no crunch. I ordered the club salad and they literally TOSSED whole pieces of lunch meat on top of the salad. Like right out of the Kraft plastic container. The«chili» was disgusting. I swear they opened a can of dinty moore and tossed it into a bowl, microwaved it, and sent it out. The topper was my husband’s hamburger. He got two bites into it, immediately spat it out, and said«That burger is rotten.» We called the waiter over, told him the meat was bad, and he very graciously and apologetically took it back. He offered anything of the menu in it’s place, but by then, we were all choking through our meals. My daughter started complaining about her chicken tenders tasting«weird». Knowing that my daughter could be prone to influence and over dramatic behavior(she’s 14), I told her if it tasted bad not to eat it. She ate 1 ½ chicken tenders, none of the fries(which were like mushy, greasy slabs of grossness on a plate) and pushed her plate away half way through. I picked at my salad, my other daughter picked at her chicken wrap, and at that point we were just ready to get out of there. The waiter removed the burger from the bill, but nothing else. Fast forward to getting home from our trip eight hours later… my 14 year old has her head in the toilet and is barfing her guts up. Stomach cramps, uncontrollable vomiting, and diarrhea. CLEARLYFOODPOISONING. I have been dealing with extended bouts of diarrhea, nausea and bloating for the past three days after eating there. Everyone else is fine. I am SOGROSSED out and disgusted by this place… NEVEREVEREATTHERE. We will be contacting the proper authorities to report them… they should be shut down.

Decent airport bar food avoid the burgers and go for grilled chicken its actually pretty good and a nice healthy alternative to the crap chopmeat they put in burgers at these places. Note this is 4 stars for an airport bar and place to grab something to eat before the flight… it aint the Ritz…

I had the fish dinner and a sunset wheat here a few weeks back and after maybe a hundred trips through DTW I think this is one of the worst restaurants in the airport to actually sit and eat/drink. The Waterworks is clearly a bar first and has a very open air feel into the end of Terminal A and has a very small partition separating the seating area from the edge of a fast food dominated food court which makes it an odd location to sit and have a few adult beverages while waiting on a layover. If you have always wished that an airport food court should have a bar in it then walk past the dozens of better restaurant choices in DTW and hit the Waterworks.

I had a nice breakfast — 3 egg omelette here during my 4 hour stopover from 3 am to 7 am or so. The people were nice and there was just one more person eating breakfast at that wee hour. The breakfast lasted me all day so I will not forget this place. I didn’t get a chance to eat lunch that day as my schedule was hectic. My next meal was dinner at 10 pm in Florida.
