Ummm! I was disappointed!!! The corned beef combo and the corned beef sandwiches were NOT made with good quality corned beef!!! More like sliced lunch meat! It was stacked high! The onion rolls had NO Flavor! I will never go there for corned beef!!! The slogan was is is not a sandwich but an experience! That was true! A bad one! Side bar… The onion rings were good!

I’ve heard about wheat and rye for many years has one of the best places to get sandwiches metro Detroit. I had to drop a friend off at the airport subside trade out for the first time. The portions are absolutely gigantic and the sandwich was actually pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive and the overall experience was pretty good with the exception of one thing. They do not give free drink refills for Pop. Did you know one 5 gallon box of pop syrup is $ 41 and one CO2 tank is $ 25. $ 66 yields 48030oz pops and they couldn’t afford refills. Really? Take 2oz of meat off of each sandwich to compensate the cost of free refills. Oh and they won’t let you get tapwater either you have to buy a bottle of water!!!

I love this bar and grill. If you’re looking for a place near the airport then this is it. Great sandwiches with huge portions and cheap drinks. The place isn’t the fanciest but I love it. Thursdays they have BBQ. It’s close to all of the park and fly hotels too!

Guess we hit a bad day. Restaurant is big and had about 50% of tables occupied with one waitress who came out and said she was alone and overwhelmed. We had over an hour for a bite to eat before a flight and asked her if that was enough time as it took 20 minutes for her to even get to our table. She said she didn’t know. We asked if we should go elsewhere and she said that was up to us, she didn’t care. Little interest in us. We stayed. The food was average. The meat for the burgers was good, not great. But made as ordered. The patty melt had the worst bread ever and the cheese was the processed slices. Ended up scraping it off. The fries were great. We made the flight in time by 5 minutes but we won’t be back here. Not good management it seemed. Very disappointed. There was a waitress, bartender, and grill person. A second waitress came in later but the crowd had already let up.

Not a place you would expect an ENORMOUS Corned beef sandwich. Stopped while in town for business. Had a beer and decided to grab a sandwich to bring back to hotel for dinner. WOW, I was shocked at how big and delicious this sandwich was. Over a pound of Corned beef, Swiss melted, on an onion roll. Dive bar with amazing Corned beef and pastrami. It’s not processed meat either, it’s fresh homemade brisket. Really good, especially for the price!

I want to give this place 5 stars but the only downfall is that the service absolutely sucks ass!!! The only great service you get is from the bartender whom I feel is the only one whom actually does anything!!! I hate that I’ve forgotten her name(maybe Margaret) but I truly appreciate that she recognizes me every time I walk in!!! I’ve seen this place dead & I’ve seen it completely packed! It makes me sick that whom I can only assume is a manager, will look u straight in the eye then walk away… seriously!!! I work in the same damn industry! Do your part, bro! Thanks!

Came in for a carryout order the other day and knew already how huge the sandwiches are from eating here in the past ~ still the same great place! Ordered the Wheat and Rye Combo sandwich(pastrami and corned beef) to split between two of us! That is now my favorite sandwich, so tasty! I had the smaller half and STILLCOULDNOTFINISHIT :) Hey, dinner for two about $ 7 and a beverage at the bar while you wait. Will be back for sure!

Only reason why they don’t get a 5 is because you have 2 purchase water, no water on tap… never heard of that before… but anyway the food is great the atmosphere is even greater… I really enjoy myself every time I go until I get thirsty lmao

Tons of food, great price, lots of T.V.‘s for sports. Wings and burgers are good. Good selection of drinks and beers. Friendly service. Remember this is good bar food not 5 star dinning

Arrived there about 10:30am 12⁄23 and thought they were closed at first. Went and had the Ruben, Philly Cheese Steak, and the Stacked Ham sandwiches. Along with the seasoned fries, for each of us. I had the Ruben with no room for the fries it was big. Trying to tackle it from all angles. The fries are so big we had to take home a lot of them. I think less fries next time and go with water, save a little money.

Was staying at one of the local hotels and they recommended this place. Sat at the bar and ordered a glass of water and was informed they do NOT serve water but a bottle can be purchased… WHAT? Ordered a small pastrami with a glass of ginger ale. Sandwich was just OK but would NOT go back.

Good food horrible service. The place was empty and our waitress was very rude when we first came in. Then she forgot my drink. I had to interrupt her conversation with her coworker to ask her if she was getting my drink. She only came back to our table twice after that, to bring our food and then for our bill. I will never come back here, there are better restaurants around the airport where the food is just as okay and the service is way better.

This was my first time eating here. I ordered the special of the day, which was a cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg. I substituted the American cheese for blue cheese. It came with fries for $ 6.95. This was a great deal. The burger patty was ½ pound and the flavor was great. The service was excellent. I will be back.

I ordered the Hot Pastrami. It was big & good. Nothing special though. Many of my colleagues go here when they are in town. It’s best to go with others who like to imbibe in alcohol. I say that because if u don’t want to partake in spirits it’s just another bar to me. The nonalcoholic drinks are boring. You don’t get any sides with your sandwich. It’s pretty much a la carte. I’ll go again with my colleagues simply to be social.

I was disappointed that they only offer bottled water, no tap available. While the food is good, this is just ridiculous and not environmentally friendly

Great little greasy spoon. Good little dive. Food is a bargain and huge portions. Not particularly a family place, unless maybe there for lunch after a game.

Really good BLT, and pulled pork sandwich except for the soft white bread it was delicious. The food is great, the price is right but CAUTION, beware of poor sanitation. The bathrooms are REALLY dirty. And, get this– the waitresses have to double as DISHWASHERS! In a sink– no dish machine. I’m not kidding you — how clean can those dishes be?. Maybe the policy of only selling bottled water is not such a bad thing! Anyway we ate and survived. We actually really enjoyed it. Just make sure your immune system is in tip top shape! Consider yourself warned.

Oh yeah — i’m a fan.(PICK-UPONLY) Macho Nacho, Lo’s Deli, and BLT are pretty nice large tasty dishes. I’ve never ate inside but my coworkers call in our orders all the time which usually take about 30 mins. Unfortunately I was too impressed with the cornbeef — alot of meat but it seemed a little dry(you might need to ask for more sauce). Prices are very reasonable!

Had dinner here one evening, sat at the bar. The place has a pretty good menu selection. The place has a blue collar, dive bar vibe to it. Don’t sit at the bar if you are easily offended. Four different staff members at various times loitered down at my end of the bar — and spent considerable time cussing. I was not offended, but it started to get a little old. They have an excellent craft beer selection, mostly in bottles. I ordered the Macho Nachos and a Founders Pale Ale, plus water. I was told they don’t do glasses of water — I have to buy a bottle of water. Very odd for such a divey place. Nachos came out, the portion was massive. Way more than I could eat. The Nachos were served in this huge basket. When I commented on how much food it was — the bartender made the comment that somehow the quantity of food they were serving justified only offering bottled water. I stated that I wished they had told me how much food came in an order of Nachos — I could only eat about ¼ of the basket — I hate wasting food. Had I known how much food this was — I would have ordered something else. The Founders Pale Ale was very good. First time trying this Pale Ale. It had a nice hoppiness, combined with a crisp, slightly citrus and bitter finish. I then had a second Pale Ale — Midwestern Pale Ale(Bell’s Brewery, Kalamazoo, MI). I was not as impressed with the Midwestern Pale Ale — compared to the Founders Pale Ale. It was less flavorful and less hoppy. If I were simply ranking Wheat & Rye based on the craft beers — I would have given the place 4 – 5 stars. But the rather average Nachos, too much food, policy about only serving bottled water, and the ongoing coarse language — they only get 3 stars. I’d come back here to drink.
