I bought a cool soda that carbonates with a clear orb and my dad bought some garlic peanuts. The prices were a little high, but that’s probably because it was an international product

My boyfriend and I went to see a movie at the Ronkonkoma Regal theatre and decided to check out the local Filipino grocery store. Disgusting food and terrible customer service. I bought a Pianono(jelly roll) in Ube flavor, a product I’ve had from Daly City, CA and Woodside, Queens before. I’m almost ashamed to share this photo because it makes me want to throw up. There’s mold growing all over it. Two hours after buying the product, I went to cut a slice and noticed a weird green spot on one side of the cream. Then when I opened the roll(which is not the right way to eat it, but I was so suspicious) I saw spots all over it. To add insult to injury, the grocery store required me to bring the jelly roll back to the store for a refund. When I told them I live in Manhattan(about 50 miles from the store) and had already thrown it out, they were uncooperative and would not take responsibility at all for selling a rotten product. They downplayed my concerns by saying the jelly roll was shipped on the morning of my purchase, therefore, it must be fresh. Folks, if this photo represents a product that was«just shipped this morning», I don’t even want to think about products in the back of the house. They may have saved 6 bucks, but lost a lot in future sales.

I ordered the kalderata and crispy pata. Everything is cooked very well. The sauce for the kalderata was perfect

I have been coming to this place ever since I found out about this little gem from friends a couple years ago. It is a small grocery/restaurant with majority of Filipino offerings. I usually come here for the restaurant side. I’ve never encountered any problems dining here aside from waiting for a table to open up when it’s really busy. They only have a couple tables so sometimes it’s best to order your food to go when it’s super busy. Staff is always friendly, food is always delicious and the prices are cheap. My fav is their ginataang manok, a chicken dish cooked in coconut milk and their bicol express. I’ve tried most of the stuff on their menu and I can truly say they are all mouth savoring delicious. I’ve dined at a Filipino spot around Woodside, Queens and they don’t even come close to matching Asian One in Ronkonkoma. I will continue to head out to Long Island when I get the intense craving for Filipino food. Also, don’t forget to try the Halo Halo here! It is an awesome treat after a great meal.

I picked a very busy Saturday to visit Asian One Best Grocery, and believe me, it was crowded. Only one register makes for a slow checkout when everyone is ready at once, but the young man ringing people up didn’t get frazzled, even when the register malfunctioned and he had to ring up a large order again after he’d already bagged it. I’d stopped in to pick up fish sauce, shrimp paste, kim chi and to see if they carried Maxim Korean coffee in a jar rather than the 3-in-1 sachets I already have.(They didn’t.) But truth be told, I really went there to try the halo halo. This is a traditional Filipino dessert that consists of fruits, jellies, shaved ice, leche flan, evaporated milk and a dollop of purple yam(ube halaya) ice cream on top. It was so good and I would definitely get it again! Small space for a well-stocked Asian grocery and a Filipino restaurant, but the staff was friendly and the food very good. I grabbed a siopao(steamed pork bun) for lunch while checking out, and it was tender and delicious. Will be back for sure.

Half grocery store and half restaurant but don’t let the looks fool you! This little family owned restaurant has the MOST authentic Filipino food we’ve had in a long time! We ordered my sons favorite Kare Kare, hubby ordered Beef Caldereta, Chicken Adobo and Pancit Bihon. No complaints at all! Food was devoured in a quickness. It’s nice to find little places like this while traveling!

I got into Asian cooking a bit ago because it is easy to whip up a stir fry with a cheap steel wok. I tried off the shelf prepared packages from stop and shop and the like but it never came out right. That being said, WOW. this place is amazing. Short of the city they have a very good selection of everything you might need. Sauces, spices, noodles, vegetables, rices, candies; you name it they have it. They obviously don’t have everything, like fresh fish or meat but for all the ingredients other than what you should be buying and the fish market or butcher you can make amazing asian dishes. That means you can find quail eggs, unagi sauce, lo mein noodles, fried dehydrated garlic etc. I have not tried the sit in/take out food but I’ve been told it’s exceptional. I’d rather cook for myself, but I might try it because people keep telling me how good it is.

I come here mainly for the restaurant. The food is really authentic, but a little pricey. I feel as if they are one of the very few filipino grocery/restaurant around… Nonetheless, the food is delicious and not for someone on a diet… Recommend Kare-kare, any of the pancits, and the lechon.

it’s both a grocery and a restaurant which gives it a pretty cozy feel. 4 tables for the restaurant area, but I never had to wait for a table. The food takes a while to come, but they make it fresh so it is def worth the wait. Not much authentic Pilipino around this area and this is as close to the real thing as it can get. the price is a little expensive but still cheaper than it is in the city. overall great authentic Pilipino food!

I gave up. I had to give up. how many markets do I have to go to in order to collect the ingredients needed for an epic homemade asian noodle soup!!! No more market hopping I found what I needed right here– like the shrimp paste, quail eggs and frozen Udon noodles along with a slew of items I didn’t know I needed like a the $ 6.95 «lobster balls» that I boiled and topped my epic soup and thrilled my husband to the bone… The place is super clean– I mean immaculate– It is not huge, but very well stocked it took me an hour to see everything they had because I like to take my time in a new place and really SEE. I cant stress enough how nice the employees were. They may have been the owners actually, I spoke with a lovely lady named Ysa. They spoke perfect english, asked me my name and told me to try their lunches when I have the time because they have good stuff. There are tables and they serve food. A little birdie I know from the Philippines swears by their adobe chicken she drives from Commack for it. I can believe it, it smelled terrific in there! This place is the place to go when you want to round out your culinary supplies with hard to find eastern specialties. I found Chinese, Japanese, Philippine and all in between asian cultures worth of items along with a bit of latin american here and there. I wish there were more places like it-and the prices? Excellent. Go check it out!!! I will be back for lunch very soon.

This is a great place to get all your goodies from the Philippines. This is my second trip here for snacks and hot food. So grab some halo-halo while waiting, for tour food to be ready and enjoy!

Calling Asian One — this is a Filipino food place. It’s not what you think, because it is not the usual buffet bar you expect to get your Filipino food. The One Chef is the only one who cooks so if you are coming in to get your food cook at the time of your visit, I recommend that you call it in ahead because this One Chef will cook for the food you order in real time. The food is not available to you right away, but expect to wait to have your food cook in some form, shape or another. While you are waiting, you can browse the grocery for some favorites or essential take home inventory. I do not live in the area, but I would not mind coming back on my 5 hours drive to visit my dad. I know my dad missed Filipino food. He does not even know that there is a Filipino restaurant near him. Unfortunately, he does not eat Filipino food no more for health reason.

Asian One Best makes me miss home! I personally believe that my father makes the best Kare Kare, but theirs is definitely a close second. Pancit canton, pork and chicken BBQ skewers were also fantastic. Also, their food portions are huge(definitely excited for leftovers). I noticed a few other people who ordered the Bicol express, crispy pata, mechado, and lechon kawali… all of which looked so appetizing. I can’t wait to come back to this place again and try other things on their menu and their halo halo. They also have a nice grocery selection to pick up your favorite Asian brand ingredients.

Asian One Best was my «go to» restaurant in Long Island for Filipino comfort food. It also happens to be the only Filipino restaurant east of Queens. The menu has the usual cast of characters, and the kitchen comes up with really good, authentic food. I recommend the crispy pata, sisig, bicol express, dinuguan, and pork sinigang. I’m personally not a fan of their adobo(too much onions), the sinampalokang manok(too much ginger), and ginataang manok(also tm ginger). For desert, you can’t go wrong with the halo halo, though I wish they have more deserts to offer, like sago or mais con yelo. Overall, most of the items in their menu are very good… and inexpensive. I also must mention their«ilogs» selection, very good stuff. The grocery store is convenient and has a good selection. The mark up, however, is pretty ridiculous. Again, you’d pay higher prices for convenience of you’re in Middle Island. It’s a family run business that really cares about its food and customers. Very nice folks, from the owner to the kitchen crew. One of the places I’ll miss now that we’re back in the Bay Area.

Asian One is a decent place to buy Asian ingredients. It seems like they have mostly Filipino ingredients. I had a hard time finding a soy sauce that I recognized. Their prices are slightly higher than I am used to and their selection is a little limited. I will have to try any other Asian markets in the area to compare. If this market is the best one, I will update my review.

Food is always awesome. Been here quite a few times, they got the best Kare-Kare in NY. Customer service is perfect.

The first time I came here, I followed my GPS that took me on a lot of surface streets. As a result, it took me a long time(too long to be considered convenient for lunch) to get there and back. On a recent trip out east, however, I discovered they weren’t far off of Nicoll’s Road, and that gave me a faster(though longer) way of getting there. This is a good thing, because ever since the Manila BBQ Stop in Centereach closed, I was missing a place where I could get Filipino food for lunch. As a bonus, I learned the owner of this place used to work where I work now. Unlike the Manila BBQ Stop(which had dishes ready in chafing dishes), the food here is prepared to order. The means the food is fresher, but you also have to wait longer for your meal. It’s a reasonable trade off, and I know NOT to come here if things are«crazy» at work. I do highly recommend their halo-halo. It was the perfect ending to a decent lunch and a good way to prepare yourself to head back out into the summer heat. I’m sure I’ll be back many times(and I expect I’ll be raising my rating a bit after I’ve had a chance to sample more dishes too).

Finally got to try this place out and o how I miss eating Philippino food. The place is small but it didn’t need to be a big place. It is also a combo of a small restaurant and a grocery store. The grocery store party sells balut. I was so going to but it but I end but getting it but I definitely know where to get it when I do crave for it. I ordered the crispy skin pork and the eggplant omelette. Both so good that I would go back and ordered it again. I was impressed hours good the omelette was. It was a lot of food that I couldn’t finish it all I brought it home. It it’s also good as leftovers

One of the only true Asian restaurants I have found out east. The palabok and tilapia are to die for! If they grill it, it is worth trying. The cooks are Filipino and the dishes cannot any more authentic than this…

Small grocery/casual restaurant with a few tables all in one. Most of the patrons seem to be regulars. We ordered chicken BBQ, some curry dish, chicken soup with ginger, and some dish with glass noodles. The chicken BBQ was soooo good — tender and moist meat with great flavor. The curry and noodle dishes were a bit bland. The soup was great perfect for a winter day. The service was reeeeally slow tho. Definitely waited a lot longer for our food than to eat it.
