This was one of our favorite restaurants, but my experience the other day will keep me from going back. Our steamed dumplings which was supposed to be chicken tasted vaguely like hot dogs and my panang beef had a tasteless sauce and raw vegetables. Very disappointing, as I said it used to be a favorite.

Been eating at this place for quite sometime now and usually the food is quite good but past few times they have been messing up the order whether its a take out or sit in and eat. usually my kids enjoy the drunken noodles there but they have been so inconsistent with the taste either they are to blunt or too spicy. another thing they should really be working on is there customer service mostly its good but past few months it has gone downhill theres couple of people that take order over the phone and are super rude. all and all good thai food with reasonable prices but def need to work on their customer service and consistency of food.

My boyfriend and i were craving thai food and our favorite thai restaurant closed. This was the next closest thai restaurant. The service was alright. They gave generous portions for the price but the food isnt that good. An ok place to try out but personally i wouldn’t come back

The food is close to authentic because the owner is Thai and I am Thai as well so I guess I should know. She is very nice and friendly and I’m sure will accommodate to any questions or concerns you may have. Service is good. Food is delicious but like I said earlier not truly authentic because I believe they need to westernize the menu for folks who may not be able to handle the spice or distinct Thai flavors. Even Thai spicy is not the spiciest based from my excursions in Thailand. For example the som tum(papaya salad) cannot be authentic because they use a lot of ingredients that may be hard to buy or is too«authentic» if that makes any sense. In any case the food is pretty good here. I like coming here when I don’t feel like cooking Thai food myself.

Today was the most bizarre experience at this place. I’ve eaten there MANY times with my co-workers for lunch– food is usually pretty good but the service is quite slow. Because of this, we usually call ahead, place the order, and then when we arrive it’s all ready for us. This allows us to eat, enjoy, pay, and get back to work within our lunch hour. We drive about 10 minutes each direction to get there. Today when we called in– the woman on the phone was VERY rude and said that she would not do this for us again in the future. She said she has to tend to the customers who are actually there. It was very rude, and we almost called back to cancel because of it but decided against it and went anyway. When we arrived, the woman handed us menus– we told her that we’d called in ahead of time with our order. She acknowledged that we had done that, but told us that she did not put the order into the kitchen. The restaurant had 3 tables seated total at the time. Usually, on lunch hour, we are the ONLY table in the entire place. But today– instead of just telling us on the phone that she wasn’t going to tell the kitchen about our order– she let us drive all the way there before she let us know. What is the difference between calling in an order for the kitchen that is for take out vs. dine in? The kitchen still has to prepare the food?! Needless to say, we left and took our business to another establishment who was very happy to have new customers. We will not be back and we were customers who usually brought about 7 people at least once per month. Very Rude.

I had a very disappointing experience today at Phayathai. Every few weeks my co-workers and I come together to enjoy a nice meal during our 1 hour break. We always pick Phayathai, even though it is far from us, because the food is good and it is reasonably priced. After months of going to this restaurant we were greeted with poor customer service and a very rude host. Due to our lack of time and the size of our party we try to make it easier on the kitchen and the wait staff by ordering ahead of time. This has NEVER been an issue. We are always friendly, great tippers and very laid back in regards to the food we order. We placed our order an hour ahead of time and over the phone was told this was the last time they would do this because they were busy in a very rude and annoyed tone. None the less they took our order. When we arrived, exactly on time, the host sat us down only to tell us they had in fact NOT put the order in because they don’t do that. The server was rude and unapologetic that we now did not have time to wait and did not have lunch. The server told us to go else where. We left bewildered that the restaurant with barely anyone in would turn away 6 paying regulars during lunch. We will not be returning to Phayathai. I recommend trying Sabrosa Mexican Grill which is on 106 Ronkonkoma Ave, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY11779 next to Kohl’s. They gladly took our business!

A bit of mixed food experience here at Phayathai. Decided to visit this place on an early Sunday afternoon waiting for a train, since its only a bit of drive from the train station this Restaurant is quite convenient. Although the strip mall its in doesn’t seem to be doing pretty well. The food overall is decent and I think if I give it another try with more traditional Thai dishes I probably would give a more favorable rating. — The Lemongrass pork chop — The pork was marinated and grilled really well. The portion was quite nice too for ~$ 12 the pork chop easily can be quite filling. — Fried Calamari — I personally thought the calamari was a little bland, its freshly fried and the breading was nice. But feels maybe some pepper or salt in the bread crumbs would make it stand out quite nicely. Personally I thought the sauce it went with didn’t go too well with it probably I’m more used to the Italian-style tomato based sauces. — Shrimp Pad thai — Quite possibly one of their best line ups, being that its a standard pad thai dish they did it pretty authentic and quite tasty — BBQ Beef — Unfortunately I thought this was probably the weakest of their offering. The beef was a bit hard and I think overly marinated. Its unfortunate that compared to the pork chop this came up short. Kind of disappointed that their menu was a bit inconsistent Overall for a Thai restaurant I think they do a good job at their core dishes but I think the competitions around makes it hard for them to be the de-facto choice when it comes to Thai foods. I hope to have another chance to visit next time I’m near the train station again and see if their other dishes blow me away.

Very disappointing. We ordered chicken satay, shrimp pad Thai and shrimp with green curry sauce. The only dish worth eating was the green curry shrimp; the curry sauce was tasty but there were very few shrimp and they were small, over cooked and tough. The pad Thai was sad. mushy sweet noodles with none of the wonderful flavor complexity that comes from the fish sauce, lime and crunchy peanuts that are included in better versions of the dish. Oh, and there were 5 shrimp in the dinner portion, also tough and over cooked. Perhaps the worst offender was the chicken sate which was raw!!! It appeared grilled on the outside but every piece was pink inside and had the rubbery texture of uncooked poultry. Never again.

Laid back atmosphere, inexpensive prices. I go to Phayathai any chance I get, no compliants. The curry here is awesome.

What’s Good: The mango chicken. The service. BYOB. What’s Not Good: The dumplings smelled… off. So much so that I didn’t eat them. This is the first time in recorded history that I didn’t eat a dumping that was in front of me. Why I Don’t Have More Details: We drank all the wine on Long Island prior to dining here, and this is just all I’ve got. Deal with it.

Not the best Thai we have had but in a pinch it will do. The spring rolls are small but they give you a lot and the green curry was rather runny/watery.

I have now eaten here twice, and I wasn’t really impressed either time. The food wasn’t bad, but there is better Thai food nearby. This just tasted a little generic and unremarkable. The lunch service was fast, however, and the price was right, but next time, I’m going to Raan.

Great place! I have tried three or four different entrees but I keep coming back to the drunken noodle. It’s an amazing mix of sweet and spicy all at once and a nice portion too. The appetizers are very good and I always get a side of coconut rice, which is well worth $ 2. The service is very friendly and the ambiance is nice and relaxing, often with Thai music videos playing on their TVs, or scenic views of places in Thailand. One complaint, the building next door is a dance studio and if there is a class going on, the music shakes the walls and really kills the relaxing tranquil vibe of the restaurant. They also offer takeout. Perhaps by NYC standards this place is a 4/5, but for Suffolk County, it is excellent Thai food.

Fabulous food! A friend read some Unilocal reviews and so we went. The drunken noodles and green curry are to die for.(I’m hungry just thinking about them.) Located near five corners(on the way to Sachem high school) look for an unassuming strip mall.(CVS is there.) Parking abounds at night while the market a few doors down is closed. The restaurant is incredibly well lit. A date will easily see any expression made. Seating are two tops that can be moved to accommodate a group. Service is casual, perhaps to match the environment. Feel free to wave an arm to hail the server back. Everyone here is incredibly friendly. (There was one(tiny) thing I wasn’t a fan of: the coconut rice. My mom set the bar too high :) Eat well friends!

I would have to say that I expected better flavors from mainstay dishes such as pad thai, drunken noodles and spring rolls. Their red curry was the best dish here, though it could use some work as well. However, I have been informed since eating here, that I should have ordered the signature fish dish, which was in my friend’s opinion, «amazing.» I will have to make a return trip to try it out.

Called in 4 orders of Pad Thai for pick up. The second you walk in the door there is a sign that says«We reserve the right to add gratuity to your bill» and upon arriving at the counter there is a jar that reads something along the lines of «if you could be so kind to leave a tip for pick up». This whole thing annoyed me. I am a generous tipper when I receive good service but I don’t like to be asked to tip. Especially when it’s twice before I even get my food. When my fiancé asked the woman behind the counter for hot oil, she laughed. Out loud. Said–«we have hot SAUCE not oil» and continued chuckling. Ok lady, not that funny. Pad Thai was alright– nothing special but I can’t say it was bad. The experience inside the restaurant was enough to turn me off. I probably won’t go back.

Best Thai place for lunch. The deals are awesome! Coworker and myself came here on a Friday and I was dying for some ginger tea and soup. Of course their lunch special, you order a main entrée and it either comes with a soup or salad. I ordered chicken green curry and a soup. Hands down, they have some authentic food, nothing is watered down(which you shouldn’t be surprised in this economy) and again, their prices are pretty good. As much as I want to say please don’t come here during lunch because I don’t want this place to get super busy, I can’t say it because I would love to have everyone come here for some good grub.

A little disappointed tonight. I’ve been here maybe 5 times before but tonight they were off. We ordered chicken satay(just ok, not great), Thai dumplings(eh, I’ve had better), pineapple fried rice w/chicken(bland, no curry flavor), shrimp pad Thai(flavorless and SODRY I chocked it down. Was pouring all the condiments on it – peanut sauce, cucumber relish…), drunken noodles w/chicken(best dish of the night tho not great). Not sure what happened. This was my first visit since the renovation, place looks nice. Even before tonight’s visit I still would’ve only rated them 3.5 stars. I will update my review if I have a better experience in the future. My favorite Thai place is Sri Thai in Huntington, but it’s too far for me to drive on a regular basis so Phayathai will have to do. Even tho it’s not the best it’s better than others in the area.
