I live about 15 miles away and I am so glad this store is here. It’s really well stocked for such a small store. I no longer have to drive an hour into Ulster county for this variety of natural food. I understand some peoples frustration that nothing is priced so it’s hard to know before hand unless you ask what the prices are. I have loved everything I have bought there. I pray there is enough business to keep them in this location. I really appreciate having a store in my area that offers so much variety of health food, organic produce and other gourmet items. The service in my experience, has been great. The owner is always helpful with things like cheese selection or holistic supplements

Wow, just wow. Stopped in on my never ending search of a product I like. Would have bought quite a bit since I try to support small businesses. They had the product but rudely shooed me out of the store claiming she had deliveries and she didn’t want to unpack anything. I was embarrassed and shocked. Great business model, a messy store and horrible customer service. I’m in Roscoe quite a bit and will not be back.

I feel compelled to update this review, not because I have new information, but because by Facebook magic(haha), I saw some comments the owner of this place, and another local business I reviewed(I’m speculating, but I am pretty sure as these are small towns) made about its Unilocal reviewers on their FB page, and it sounds like mine may be one of the reviews targeted. I don’t ‘follow’ their page, so I won’t comment there — this is where it began and where it ends. As a local person, I frequent small business in the area and support many of them whole heartedly. I am so excited for new business owners and I make every effort to go in and try it out, and like any consumer, I reward a good experience with repeat business. I’m sure they do the same. I stand by my reviews, as they were indeed my experiences. Yes, I am a critical reviewer, and I don’t apologize for that. I give details of the entire experience, and I value the reviews of others who do the same. I also give credit where it’s due, as evidenced by the fact that the majority of my reviews are quite positive. I am disappointed that instead of reaching out and engaging with me and saying, «hey — sorry, that’s not our usual, try us again» type of responses(as many strong managers and owners do on Unilocal,or Trip Advisor, or Urban Spoon, or even via e-mail when they get complaints or poor reviews), I see instead reviewers like me(or quite possibly me) being called«wackos» and part of the«feeding frenzy.» Unilocal might not be perfect, but why devalue someone’s experience? Particularly if you were not there for it? This seems like a lack of reflection and a reluctance to be open to criticism. It’s not good business. So many places up here don’t make it, and I can’t help wonder if an attitude of «I know what’s right and my customers don’t» doesn’t contribute to the loss of business. I can tell you that badmouthing them on Facebook definitely won’t help. If someone reaches out to me in an honest effort to make things better, I become a repeat customer. Period.

A gem to find on my Hwy 17 detour back to NYC. Kettle potato chips and glass bottles mountain valley spring water. Newman’s Own PB cups. Can’t beat that for a road trip stop. Service was good enough.

I’ve been a devoted customer of Pepacton Natural Foods from their Downsville days. Firstly how wonderful that we have such a resource in the area! The owner Laurie has helped me with all manner of needs from Zyflamend for my aches to my cravings for specialty French cheeses not to mention fresh vegetables and greens for home and my restaurant as well as from time to time amazing and incredibly fresh Seafood including Lobster and holiday Spiral Ham. This is impressive to me and I know the owner works incredibly hard all the time to provide such an array of goodies. I also love their Basket Magic for my gift needs. The prices are always reasonable and there’s a great mix of everything including cards, toiletries and house made pottery. Being a small business owner I appreciate what PNF is doing and understand how the difficulties of multi-tasking and overseeing employees as well as trying to make it in such a limited local economy. That said I’ve never encountered any such customer service problems at any point in time and after reading the rather harsh reviews here I have to wonder the motivation to knock such a business. So I emphasize the positives from these reviews and my personal experience; great prices and selection of organic, local and specialty products– open 7 days a week!

The management of this store was extremely unfriendly, hostile and insulting when I asked the price of an organic dairy product which did not have a price label on it. The woman who runs the place apparently thinks there is something wrong with asking for a price — even when many items in the store do not have price labels or posted prices. I will not go back to that place.

This store used to be in Downsville, and now it’s in nearby Roscoe. This is the type of business I’d love to love, but the owners make it hard to do that. When the store was in its Downsville location, everything was fine. Now that it’s in Roscoe, every time I go in it’s the same story. It’s a family-run store, and Mom isn’t there as often as she was in Downsville. So now the daughter and son surf the web all day and act like it’s a chore to get off their tails and help customers. They also seem to dislike pricing and shelving stock, since there are always boxes all over the floor. Half the time what i want is still sitting in a box with no price tag on it. The items they stock are usually fresh, of high quality, and not too pricey. It should be a pleasure to shop here, but the«customer service» is more like«customer indifference.» I hope Mom will start minding the store again, or else read the adult kids the riot act.
