Best Dim Sum I have had in a while. Authentic Chinese near Baltimore is a wonderful thing. Don’t let its out if the way location or huge warehouse it’s in scare you away. Some the best food around.

So, finding out that a legit dim sum place exists in Baltimore completely made my weekend. And then to find out that it’s located less than 10 minutes from me? [Screams of joy]. Don’t let the outside fool you! The sketchy-abandoned-warehouse-looking exterior is but a guise for a bright and surprisingly ornate space. Come on the weekend and you’ll be treated to platters of dim sum goodies piled high on steaming carts. The carts help to keep the dishes fresh and warm, but also increases efficiency of getting the food from the kitchen to your table! We got some of the usuals: steamed pork buns, pork siu mai, shrimp rice noodle rolls, sticky rice with chicken and sausage in lotus leaves, braised satay short ribs, and rice noodle rolls with fried dough. 6 dishes for 3 people, it costs about $ 28, and we were stuffed!(Well, actually I could always eat more.) Tip: Go with a big group — you can try out many more dishes and it’ll cost you even less per person!

So happy to find this place. Dim sum is the real deal. Service is very good and friendly. Will stop going to other Chinese restaurants and this will be our go to. I think this is the beginning of a…

Omg, this dimsum place is so unexpected. Honestly one of the best dimsum places I’ve been to and I have eaten at dimsum places in LA, San Francisco, and New York. In addition to other places in Southern MD. Although it was a bit lack luster on the outside, it is wonderful on the inside. Nice and clean. Fast service with servers that speak English and are polite. They also speak both Mandarin and Cantonese. Tons of good food, some that are very hard to find like duck tougue. Almost everything was delicous. Loved the ha gow, spicy tendon, pepper short ribs, gan lan. The beef chow fan, tripe was just OK. A bit pricey, but super tasty. Will be back again.

Location is located north east side of Rosedale, restaurant was builded in a warehouse building, I believe owner spend a lot of money to decorate the restaurant, service is good, pretty smart waitress is working here ! Changed clean plate fast enough ! Dim sum came out is average ! Only complaint is some are not enough hot on the temperature! Second thing I observe the lighting system is too white for the dinning room, like you are inside the Walmart, indoor parking lot is open, good for snow days, Price is so so, average $ 20 per person(dim sum only)

Actual Chinese food within 20 mile of Baltimore. Nothing more need be said. PRO: fair choice of dim sum, rivals Manhattan and Flushing, five star Chinese for Baltimore. CON: a bit of an odd location, in warehouse section of Rosedale. TIP: If they don’t already give you one, ask for the Chinese menu in English(Chinese dishes, no American dishes).

Tasty food. We came on a Monday night. Had family style dining. Great experience. Will definitely visit more often. The fried squid was delicious! Some traditional Chinese dishes on the menu. Strongly recommend!

Looking for dim sum in the Baltimore area? There may not be many places, but if you’re up for it, venture out to Chopstix Gourmet. It’s located on right off of Pulasky Hwy in Rosedale. Don’t be fooled by the warehouse surroundings, keep on driving and you’ll see Chopstix very present! I came here with a bunch of friends for dim sum. There was plenty of seating available and provided a very spacious atmosphere. I tend to order the same typical things when I go to dim sum(shao mai, baozi, har gow, etc.) They do it all plus your classics and you can even order from the regular menu. The quality was decent and probably one of the few dim sum places you can find within the Baltimore city limits. However, I got some sesame chicken to take home with me and was a little disappointed. The chicken was a tad dry and drenched in sauce. Point being, as you may know Baltimore is not the best place for chinese food, but if you’re in the area and desperate then Chopstix will suffice. Pro Tip — Looks like there will be a shuttle from the Horseshoe Casino to Chopstix starting in the Spring 2016!

Sunday Dim Sum: Traditional food shared with family and friends. *Happy Emoji* Located in a commercial district you may think your GPS is taking you on a fools errand but never fear, a few sharp turns and you find Chopstix tucked behind several nondescript warehouses. Look for the stone elephants out front or a bright banner advertising Horseshoe Casino shuttle service. As you enter the doors you start to hear the muted cacophony of dishes, utensils, and animated conversation. Then you begin to smell what awaits — garlic, chilis, oil, meats of all variety. A mix of savory/sweet aromas wash over you — tempting, tantalizing, tasty! While I’ve only had a small fraction of their culinary offerings(Vegetarian for many years) I appreciate the regional dishes and obscure cuts that you rarely see on a menu: duck tongue, durian, tripe, soup dumplings, chicken feet, or offal. There are many«safe» items for the less adventurous but I encourage you to try something new and expand your horizon. Those dishes I have ordered have been decent, but it’s the Dim Sum that really shines — steamed custard buns(Yum!). My advice: get here early, bring an appetite and avoid the sushi menu.

Awesome place for dim sum on a Saturday! It’s in the middle of nowhere in a big warehouse and it’s busy. It’s the only real dim sum place I know of in Baltimore! I got a whole bunch of dishes but my favorite was the following: –Shrimp shumai– super flavorful with the right soft texture, SO good! –Roasted pork– small slices of roasted pork belly, with a crispy texture served with a side of salt, I loved this, it was so flavorful and delicious. We also got a spattering of other dumplings, beef ribs, etc. Service was really nice as they’re more attentive than I’m used to at a Chinese restaurant!

(11/22/2015) I hate the name of this place, ugh, almost as bad as «Panda Express» as far as perpetuating jaded Asian tropes. Besides that, this place is the basically the best around for dim sum in Baltimore. It’s not NYC or LA or Boston or Montréal, but it’s down the road, not expensive, has expansive space and carts. It’ll do Pig, it’ll do. It’s got all of the highlights and does them decently. The meaty dumpling and filled things mostly look to be made in-house. Shrimp used for fillings was velveted and chunky. Pork chunky as well. Most sauces were a touch sweet, a little too much sugar to appease American tastes, but you could do well with some chili oil and soy. The place looks to be designed for large Chinese banquets, there’s a permanent«double happiness» symbol right up on the stage, a DJ booth, and some serious karaōke equipment. Luckily for the small kids in our party, it looked like they either were preparing for a wedding or cleaning up from a wedding, there were copious piles of lavender and silver balloons floating about. There are several large banquet rooms, a pending aquarium, bakery, sushi bar, fountain and koi pond. I don’t know what possesses one to buy a space like this and turn it into a warehouse of Chinese delights, but we are grateful. There’s some weird shady backroom connection to the Horseshoe Casino, too. I think they must bus people in from the casino to here and back. Service was pretty spot on for a Chinese restaurant, but we did open the place, so not much competition. There isn’t much by way of decent Chinese food in Baltimore City or County, so we’ll gladly take this. BONUS: WHOLE. ROASTED. PIG.

I grew up in SoCal so my views are quite skewed by the availability of top notch Chinese food in the Monterey Park/San Gabriel & Hacienda Heights/Diamond Bar area. The review is for two separate meals: dinner and dim sum. Dinner: the place can be a bit scary to park at night, especially given the cold, dark location. The huge restaurant hall was barely populated, adding to the negative feel. However, the food was top notch! Dishes ordered were the shrimp and vermicelli casserole, the Chinese sour kraut and intestines, and the«3am hotpot» which has blood cake, intestines, sour kraut, and other flavoring. The 3am hotpot was ok, but the other two were spectacular and highly recommended if you’re ok with the ingredients. Dim sum: as many others have already said, this place is awesome, though this is the only dim sum place I’ve been to in the area and therefore I can’t say whether it’s the best out not. A total of 12 dishes were ordered and aside from the BBQ pork buns none were disappointing. Beef tendon was soft and the flavors completely and thoroughly penetrated. Custard pie was hot and the crust was crunchy, the custard itself was highly flavorful. Phoenix claws(chicken feet) were as good as what you would get in Hong Kong. Turnip cake is, as far as I can tell hand made and not grounded by machine, this is important as it provides the maximum daikon flavors without tasting like it’s made of powder. I’d highly recommend this place as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area, for either dinner or sum.

Very good. We came for Dim sum however it’s only between the hours of 11−3pm. That put a damper on our excitement as we we’re dying to try it. We ordered some sushi, the tuna nigiri with a cucumber roll. Both were very good. The pork fried dumplings my daughter ate them all.(She loved them) I was impressed by the place and how large it was. It surely is a great place for larger parties as well. I can see this place getting super crowded as they even have a shuttle to the Horse Shoe downtown. The décor was nice lots of fish tanks and even a little waterfall by the restrooms. My daughter wanted to try the fried icecream. We both have never had it and it was so good! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We will be back for dim-sum soon!

I grew up with the impression that Baltimore had very little in terms of Chinese food, with most of the best Asian ethnic venues Korean. Looking at the posted pictures on Chopstix Gourmet, it looked reasonably authentic… and it is indeed so. While it isn’t the best dimsum I’ve ever had, I also am spoiled with dimsum in Hong Kong, and asking for that here just doesn’t make sense. What makes sense is authenticity, availability, and ROI in terms of price to quality. On all of those counts, Chopstix delivers rather well. I would wish for more Cantonese standards — there is a remarkable paucity of tofus and variants, but the core dishes are here. The proprietors are from Fuzhou and Guangdong, and the cuisine reflects some of the predispositions. Décor is a bit glitzy — it’s set up for Chinese style wedding banquets, and one television shows sports and the other Asian pop Karaōke. It’s well thought out, albeit a bit out of the way. 4⁄5. :)

Due to lack of Chinese, or anything Asian in the Baltimore Area… This place gets my 5 stars. Chopstix is probably as authentic as you can get to real Chinese food in Baltimore. They even offer a Dim Sum menu alongside the dim sum carts that shuttle around. I have yet to try the dinner menu as I went for the dim sum, and if the dinner menu is anything like the dim sum menu, then this will be my definite go to place for Chinese foods on any occasion. The atmosphere here is really nice and definitely feels very grand. The reason for this is most likely due to the audience they are trying to cater to. They are trying to cater to customers of Horseshoe Casino. There are signs advertising shows and free shuttle service to and from the casino. Asian Plaza, which is the name of the building that houses this restaurant has big plans. We are talking Karaōke(2 rooms currently are active), Spa, Massage, and plans to create a Grocery/Supermarket that will blow HaHa Foods out of the water. ps… they have both madarin and cantonese speaking servers.

Finally! A Dim Sum place in Baltimore City! Prior to Chopstix Gourmet, the closest location to decent quality dim sum was Silver Springs, MD. Now that Chopstix Gourmet opened(2⁄2015?), I can get my dim sum fix any weekend. Like many of the other reviewers mentioned, this dim sum is not comparable to LA or HK. However, I would say the quality of the dim sum is comparable to the Oriental East restaurant in Silver Springs, MD — and you save yourself the hour drive down. The price is a bit more expensive than your usual dim sum restaurants — I’d say about $ 1 more for each dish. For example, prices average from around $ 2.95 to 4.95 depending on what you’re getting. I got all the dishes to go so I can’t comment on the service. The cleanliness and décor is above average and way better than your typical Chinese restaurant. The place is PACKED on a Sunday morning(11:30am), so I would recommend coming early if you want to avoid a wait. From what I can tell, the management is quite good at moving the tables along. Overall, a great place to go for your dim sum craving in Baltimore city. It’s slightly more expensive than your usual dim sum restaurant but the quality is good.

Can’t believe this place only has 2 reviews. My friends and I were trying to keep our expectations low in case this place wasn’t very good, but it was amazing! It’s located in a big building out in the middle of nowhere, which they apparently are trying to turn into a plaza(looked like they’re working on a barber place, a store to sell Chinese pottery, etc.) I came with a party of 4 just before 11 on a Sunday for dim sum. We were one of the first ones there, but by the end of our meal, the place was PACKED. The restaurant itself is huge – tall ceilings, booths along the edges, and there’s even tables on a stage, like for a banquet. We ordered on a dim sum sheet, but the carts also came around. We had so many things: steamed spare ribs, steamed and baked BBQ pork buns, shao mai, shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, beef tendon, lotus leaf sticky rice(with meat, sausage, and a salty duck egg yolk), shrimp rice noodles, turnip cake(didn’t come with sauce though), tripe, taro dumpling. They had a ton of other things that we didn’t order because we were so full. For dessert, we got egg tarts(large, perfect crust, sweet custardy filling), fried sesame balls filled with lotus paste, and the coconut pudding(which was SOGOOD, light, creamy, full of coconut flavor). Overall, most dishes range from $ 3 – 5 each, so it can add up quickly, but the quality of all the food was pretty spot on. Come early b/c seating can get tight!

Pros: + Delicious food + Unique options(e.g. coconut jelly pudding) + Wide, clean space with ample seating + No wait(when coming here around 10:30am on Sunday) Cons: — Gets pretty packed around lunchtime, so the wait may be longer later in the day Came here with a party of 4 at around 10:30am on Sunday(their dim sum hours are from 10am to 3pm on Sundays; on weekdays, it’s 11am to 3pm). Since they open at 10, we were one of the first ones here so we didn’t have to wait to be seated. The carts weren’t out that early, so we started by ordering food off a sheet. We ordered more when the carts came around later. We had a lot of different things, including the usual(e.g. chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, pork buns, black bean spare ribs, beef ribs, turnip cake, taro dumpling), and also coconut jelly pudding — something I had not encountered at a dim sum place before. We ate the coconut pudding at the end of our meal. It was cool and refreshing and had a nice coconut flavor without being overly sweet. The taro dumplings were deep-fried on the outside with taro and meat filling. They were amazing and one of my favorites. The beef ribs were super tender and savory. The chicken feet melted in my mouth. I was somewhat disappointed that the turnip cake didn’t come with any sauce, but it was still yummy(not too salty or greasy). I always felt like Baltimore was missing a good dim sum place, but this place seems to fill that gap quite nicely. It’s still new, but I hope they are able to maintain this quality of food and service in the long term. I will certainly come back to eat again!
