While I was eating my «hash browns» last month I truthfully didn’t know what I was eating. Was this food? I didn’t taste like food. And what was this color? Was this a new color? I’ve just never eaten anything that tasted THAT bad and looked the way it did. I was scared.

I live right down the street from this restaurant and it is one of my top breakfast spots for my family and I. Service is always awesome and price per portion is amazing. You spend more on McDonalds breakfast for half the food. My family’s favorite choice when here are the skillets and of course the baked pancakes(which you need to call ahead for. 45 min bake time). Highly recommend this place and regardless of the over all review being low. This place is a staple of the community and continues to get our business as well as a majority of Roselle!

Gross. The food never looks appealing or tastes very good– the water cups look like they are about 30 years old– looked like bite marks on the rims. It’s probably not a good sign when it just seems old and unkept. Always jammed on the weekends. Literally a greasy spoon.

I’m one who has always said that if the food is good in a restaurant, they can overcome a bad location, bad pricing, a bad name, bad publicity etc etc etc. Davi’s has good food for a diner, decent portions and reasonable prices. So why 2 stars? FILTHYFILTHYFILTHY!!! It needs to be scrubbed, sterilized and disinfected. Chef Ramsey would lose his mind. It’s a shame too. Could be great.

Been here about 3 times in last few years. Make that 3rd and final time. Previous visits would be graded a 3 star(breakfasts have been bland). My final time for breakfast I ordered eggs toast hash browns(no meat). The waiter brought me a plate of eggs toast, hash browns and bacon. I told him i didn’t want the bacon and just take it off the plate. he said he was bringing it back to the cook so the cook could give it to someone else. The food was warm at best… like it was sitting out for awhile. toast was cold enough that the butter wouldn’t melt. Service was pretty much non existent.’.

The average is 2.5 stars but I feel this place deserves 3 stars. I had a Denver omelette which I found to be tasty. The potatoes were average but decent. The pancakes were good. I’d stop in here again when I’m in the area and hungry for breakfast. Unfortunately I have to drop this place down to 2 stars due to face that my eggs were no good on my last visit. Eggs are something you need to get right 100% of the time.

I really, really like this place. The choices, portion-size and prices are all spot on! Every time I go to Davi’s I try something new. I have captured several of these meals in the pictures section. A picture is worth a thousand words. I am never disappointed with my entrée… but I’m never wow’ed. I think they need to vamp up the flavors with some garlic, salsas, cilantro, basil… and rejuvenated some of the diner classics. There’s always parking and an open booth. Great place for conversation, especially over brunch and a cup of coffee. It’s also very close to the Metra if you have some time to kill before your train ride or you’re famished after a trek back from the city.

I’d like to give them more stars, but if you read the entire review you’ll find out why I didn’t. I liked my breakfast, my finicky 3 year old son liked his breakfast, my husband liked his breakfast. The bill was reasonable. The service was appropriate and friendly. If it ended there, they would have received 4 stars for sure. So what was the problem you ask? Well, my husband had a severe allergic reaction while sitting in the restaurant. The only things we know that he is allergic to are; penicillin, and mice droppings. A few moments after his food arrived he was having difficulty breathing. He went outside and it cleared up. I don’t know for sure what happened. I finished mine, and brought home the leftovers. He actually decided to later finish his meal and he was fine. Was there mouse«evidence» in the restaurant? Could someone have been spraying penicillin? Doubtful. I don’t know, I suppose it could have been an allergic reaction to someone’s perfume even though he’s never had one before. Unfortunately, we’re not going to go back to find out.

The food is inexpensive and the food comes out quick. They need to change up the place. It looks like a diner from the late 80’s

We decided to try Davi’s to see if it had changed and it had not. We went one Saturday morning and we were the only customers there. After taking our order another customer came in who promptly got served her food and attention from our waiter. As my coffee cup went dry for 5 minutes, he finally served our food. The country fried steak was very tough. but the pancakes were good. My wife ordered bacon which was obviously micro-waved. Nothing was good enough to get us back… Joe

We will never ever return to this dump. Went there a few years ago when my son was a baby — a nice waitress brought us one of those generic wood high chairs and turned it upside down so we could place the carrier in it. The rude manager sees this and rushes over and asks her to take it back -‘That is not the chairs purpose!’ Really? and you keep customers how exactly? ‘Cause it isn’t the food. Runny omelets were cold and gross. Dirty glasses. Shoes stuck to floor. Nasty.

My family and I have been coming here for years. We come here at lease once or twice a month. The food has awesome prices and is really good. However, there has been a decline over the past for years. Less people come here to eat and servers change pretty quick. The owner and old managers has been absent for a couple years as well. Having said all this, they still have the best skillets and cream of chicken soup I think I’ve ever had. I recommend: mushroom ham skillet, Monte Crisco sandwich, Julienne salad. ALL fantastic.

I actually like this place because the foods were really good. I ordered Hawaian Omelet and it was delicious. However the waitress wasn’t as sincere as she could be. We were laughing because she wouldn’t fail to pour the coffee without dropping on our plates. Her mind wasn’t there and she was so careless. But the food was great.

I was in town visiting my parents and they decided to take us here for breakfast. It was a Sunday morning so we wanted to try and avoid all the crowded places. We got seated right away. That always makes me happy. Its has a standard diner type look and feel to it. I liked it. I don’t want anything too fancy for breakfast. The menu had a pretty good selection of food and it didn’t seem too overpriced or anything. My husband got Oreo pancakes. I thought they were the funniest pancakes I have ever seen! When he ordered them I was thinking pieces in the batter or something. NOPE! They were whole cookies! or at least the halves. It didn’t taste bad either. I got the pancake breakfast with strawberries. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. Everything tasted great. The meal also came with orange juice. It was in the strangest cup ever. It was hardly bigger than a shot glass. I have never seen that! We were all laughing about it. That may have been a bit of a rip off but it tasted really good! It was actually some of the best orange juice I have had in a long time. I would love to come back here again for breakfast.

My husband and I came here for breakfast earlier this week because we wanted to start visiting some more of the local restaurants and find a good breakfast spot. Davi’s is almost easy to miss as you’re driving by because there’s no large, obnoxious sign by the road. The only reason we really noticed it was because someone had mentioned and it and we saw it on Unilocal. The place doesn’t really have any kind of cohesive décor — it’s just kind of there. And breakfast-y. We sat in a booth near the front window, where we could overhear some loud, happy group of elderly people enjoying their meal. The place wasn’t packed, but there was enough friendly-looking people scattered about with their friends and families so we didn’t feel alone. It was also quiet — the perfect kind where you can still hear voices, but it wasn’t a deafening roar. The menu was pretty standard, but the food was above standard. My omelette and side of hash browns was HUGE. And GOOD!(Even as leftovers!) My husband loved his burger. The cream of chicken & rice soup was good too(I sampled some), and the bread that came with it was still hot from the oven! Considering the modest appearance of this place and its location, we really impressed with our meal. So, while this isn’t the most wonderful breakfast joint I’ve ever been to, it’s pretty good for what it is. And that’s all I need. I’m looking forward to going back again. And again. And again, perhaps.

A friend and I ordered omelets– mine with sausage and his with veggies. They were both just piles of grease and cheese, even with fruit instead of hash browns. By this afternoon his stomach was killing him and I was puking. Eat here at your own risk!

Unfortunately Unilocal only lets you write 5001 words so I had to cut my review short. But I’d to finish it! So after everyone at my table gets their meal there are still some things missing. First, my entire meal, I am the only one without a plate, my boyfriend has no toast, and none of our waters or soft drinks have been refilled. As our server returns to ask if we need anything else I inform her my plate is missing. She asked me what I ordered, I told her potato pancakes. She returns with the pancakes, minus the apple sauce and sour cream.(I was really looking forward to the apple sauce.) I informed her that I would still like the sauce and sour cream, she brings it back and literally slams the plate down on the table and walked away. At this point I am fuming, but no one wanted to cause a scene in front of grandma. As I looked at my plate I became even more upset. I went up to the counter to ask for the manager, I attempted to tell him that our service had been horrible since the beginning. As I am trying to explain to him what we encountered our server comes up and starts to butt in. She tries to defend herself and say she only messed up ONE thing. As I was trying to tell the manager what actually happened she kept interrupting and arguing. I looked at her said«are you going to argue with me, really?» At this point even the manager is amazed that she is arguing with a customer and he isn’t saying anything. She is still going on about how she made no mistakes and I just turn around and go «Are you F*ucking kidding me?» At this point my adrenaline was pumping and I can’t even tell you what happened next. I know I told the manager we weren’t paying for ANYTHING and he agreed. He somehow got the server into the back of the restaurant. I sat back down and we could all hear her screaming at him. I refused to continue to eat my food, not only was I mad but the food was gross. My potato pancakes looking the hash browns from McDonald’s. The next thing we know, our server grabs her purse and storms out still yelling. The manager came over an apologized profusely. Grandma told him that we would be back(fat chance). I sat at the table with the rest of my family with my purse on my shoulder and silent. I work in the customer service industry so I understand how the public can be awful and terrible(not that we were) but no matter how irritated you get you don’t take it out on the person you are serving. I only opened my mouth to the manager because I am so sick of being treated like crap when I am paying for something. I want my service with a smile regardless of how awful a day the person is having. That being said, I won’t be back here. If grandma wants to go she’ll have to go alone. Sorry Grandma.

This place is a random hole in the wall and we used to go every week with the family here when I lived in IL. Very friendly place, the food is decent, and the coffee is a little shaky. Great place to be a regular.

Prices are decent and definitely better quality food than an IHOP or Denny’s. Definitely a flashback to that 70’s show – you won’t find a waitress inputting your order into a computer – they handwrite them and use a calculator. Service was decent, I was checked on multiple times. We had the strawberry crepes and the steak and eggs. The crepes were a kids portion – but could definitely share – they were huge. The steak was ok and could’ve used some more seasoning — but nothing a little A1 can’t help. Since I was with the kiddies waitress was nice enough to bring over a coloring book and bucket o’ crayons — so they were happy. We went at an off time so there was no crowd which was good. They have a nice size menu that isn’t too overwhelming, all day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, and some standard dinner entrees. Overall good experience.
