Went here for a testing, and was not extremely impressed with the ambience. They were very crowded, and had limited seating. Most of our time was spent milling about the guest shop area. The wine was good, but not good enough to make up for the uncomfortableness of their layout.

Went here for a wine tasting. They were super crowded and it was hot inside. It was not very well organized. It took a while to pay for the tasting and then there was only one girl pouring the tastes. You had to go through a doorway to get each taste which was difficult since it was crowded. I will continue to buy wine from here, but I would prefer to go to Cooper’s Hawk for tastings!

I love the fruit wines. If you buy a case of anything you get 10% off. I believe there’s a deeper discount if you’re in their wine club but check me on that. I used to belong to the wine club but wasn’t so interested in their other wines and so would find myself having to buy all of those monthly wines that really didn’t do it for me. But if you like that variety… There’s a big gift shop area with some gourmet food items if you’re looking for something wine themed. They do tastings and cellar tours too. I hear the B&B is nice though Roselle isn’t exactly the most interesting town for such a thing. My daughter looked into it for her wedding two years ago but found the coordinator for that to be difficult so she went elsewhere.

I really like Lynfred winery. It is a nice place to do a tasting, enjoy a snack, and soak your troubles away. The property is an old large home from some period that I cannot identify… but it is beautiful. There is a nice porch that you can sit on when the weather is warm. This is the main location so you can do and see a lot more at this location. There is a VIP room where you can order something small to taste with a flight of wine. You can do a tour and see the private cellars, the wine tanks, and hear about the Lynfred backstory. It is a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Don’t forget to check out their Oktoberfest. Enjoy some delicious German food, fun, and wine to kickoff your fall.

A great winery with awesome staff and a classy vintage feel. You can have two«experiences» meaning either 2 glasses of wine or a tasting and a glass of wine, just know there is a limit to what they can serve you. They also serve tasty artisan breads, wine and cheese to enhance the experience. The gift shop has all kinds of wine related thingies you never knew you needed till now. I haven’t tried the tours or the B&B yet.

This is a review for their VIP Room. It might be nice on a weekday afternoon/early evening to visit or to secure a group private tasting or wine/food pairing sometime but when we went on our own over the weekend it was quite a disappointment. We did the cheese & wine pairing(3 wines paired w/3 cheeses along with some pickled veggies, toasted bread, salami & pâté). The food was very good & the wines were decent but the ambiance completely killed any enjoyment. When we first arrived not long after the VIP Room opened at 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday(that is where they serve the cheese/wine pairings) there was just one other small group of ladies having a good time at a reasonable volume. It’s a small, intimate setting. But within 20 minutes the room filled up with several other groups & they were all incredibly loud. I realize that is not Lynfred’s fault but it would be nice if perhaps the management asked guests to enjoy their visit at a reasonable decibel level, especially since the room is quite small. Our server even came over & apologized for how loud everyone was! We hurried through consuming the rest of our food/wine & promptly left instead of staying to linger & enjoy the experience as we had looked forward to.

Recently went to Lynfred Winery for their October Epicurean Experience and had a great time. Good wine, appetizers, and a nice atmosphere. At the end of the experience the Chef gave us some tips and hints to cook some of the appetizers at home ourselves.

I went here with a group of friends recently as one of these friends works here and was able to get us a winery tour. It was fascinating to hear about the history of this business and how it sprung up as a family business. Also noted was the fact this is the oldest winery in the state of Illinois. The winery itself with the Bed and Breakfast is beautifully maintained and the wine itself is very tasty(not to mention the wide variety of wines(over 100 available for purchase)). They import their grapes from different areas of the US(including Southern IL, Michigan, and Wisconsin). All in all a neat place to check out if you are into wines and quite the nice facility to spend a weekend afternoon.

Went to the fest this past weekend. The food, wine & just everything was GREAT! The place is a hidden gem. It is so cute & the wines are excellent! Prices are decent & the home made bread is a must! Definitely will return. What a great place.

Loved this winery! Visited this past weekend on Saturday morning. They were getting ready for their big Oktoberfest so the employees were maybe a little distracted and I can’t say I learned anything about the wines or the winery. But, the wines were amazing! I didn’t sample the fruit wines as those are usually way to sweet, but did sample the rest of them. My favorites were the Barbera(which I couldn’t buy because it was members only), Seyval Blanc, Sangiovese, and the Cabernet. I live about 2 hours from here, but can absolutely see myself visiting again.

If you like sweet wine, this is your place. Very structured tastings, so if you don’t like what’s on the list, you’re out of luck.

Great wine and food! 7 samples(sips) for $ 9($ 7 member) or $ 9 for a glass of wine. I went for the Strawberry non-vintage and it was great. The cheese & grapes, flatbreads and strawberry walnut bread were all delicious. It was a nice day out and my friends and I hung out in the gazebo. There were also tables and chairs on the patio where many people sat. There’s a limit of 2 glasses that you can order per day. There are only a handful of parking spots right in front of the entrance, but plenty of parking behind the winery.

Lynfred Winery is located in the northwest suburbs, not an actual vineyard. It’s actually a bed and breakfast place and a winery. With that said, don’t expect a Decanter World Wine Awardee here. I gave this place 4 stars for it’s quaint décor and appearance, for the experience, value, and service. For $ 12, you get 7 samples of wine from whites to reds, and then lastly, dessert wine. Again, you don’t come here to judge wine so don’t prep your tongue palate 3 days ahead and leave your aroma nose behind, it’s not like that. It’s just a cute place to taste samples of local wine. There are no actual tables for huge groups, they have benches around the windows and that is all the seating they have for the tasting. They have cheese, sausage, and grape plate for $ 6 and flatbreads for $ 12. These are great taste breakers with your tasting. If you check in to Unilocal, you get to take home a huge french bread or you can eat it there as you wish. Bummer: you can’t open a bottle of wine and enjoy it there since their liquor license doesn’t allow their patrons to come crawling out of there like they usually do from a bar. Womp womp womp… But they have a VIP lounge where people can buy a bottle and sip it there. We opted to take our wine purchase, sip it and crawl out elsewhere.

Great day to go for a wine tasting. Prices for the tasting are very reasonable we also ordered a cheese snack to go with. Great to do with a group of friends. Area to taste wine is quite small so we kept walking outside while sipping our wines. Overall very good experience, would recommend and delicious wines.

I haven’t tried any food at Lynfred yet, but I do love their wine selection. My friend and I get together for a tasting once a month. I’ve been pleased with the wine selection, variety, and quality every time. This is a top-notch winery. I haven’t done any other experiences or tours, but I love that this is «our place» to catch up and enjoy a few sips of some delicious wine. I like that there are many different seating options — inside, outside, bench, gazebo, picnic table. It’s a really nice atmosphere and the staff is always friendly. I usually leave with a bottle of red sangria.

I visited Lynfred Winery in June 2014. I enjoyed it. Went on a tour of the winery. It was quite informative. I didn’t buy any wine, but I did buy a wine glass.(I love collecting wine glasses). While wine tasting, you are given a sheet with a list of wines(a wine tasting menu)…and they are checked off each time you go up for a sample of wine. The Strawberry Pecan bread was delish! You must try it. They offer ample samples of different breads while wine tasting. The Strawberry Pecan bread was the best tasting in my opinion. Also, you can purchase cheese and fruit while wine tasting. I think it was $ 5. The store is kinda small but they have an array of things to purchase for us wine lovers :) I really enjoyed it and would love to go back and purchase some of the wines that I enjoyed. I wouldn’t go on the tour again since I’ve already went on it, only because it was quite long and you’re standing for a long time. But I still enjoyed it.

Lynfred Winery is still everything of my hopes and dreams, however there’s a need for an update as I’ve now attended their Epicurean Experience. December 2013’s menu was based on Holiday Traditions dishes and it pleased my mouth in every possible way. Our menu was: Pinot Grigio 2010 paired with: –Arugula salad with bacon, figs, ricotta cheese and marzipan –Caribbean Christmas crab cake Cabernet Syrah 2009 paired with: –Goose stew with pearl barley and celery root(they substituted duck for us) –Beef brisket with slow-roasted beans and olive aioli Pear Wine paired with: –Gingerbread pâté a choux with pear compote –Sticky toffee pudding with oranges and whipped cream fraiche I loved every single item with the standouts being the Arugula salad(surprisingly) and the beef brisket for me. Going to Lynfred for the Epicurean Experience is a perfect date activity. If you’re a member of Lynfred(which you should be if you aren’t already), it’s just $ 23 pp. That is such a a steal for such highly elegant food and full glasses of each wine, plus insanely personal service. Upstairs in the special Epicurean room, it was just my date & I plus one other couple. The chef came out to explain every single dish in each course in great detail. Then we had one server checking up on us and the other couple — just very attentive service. And they won’t accept tips! When you’re finished with the meal(or before) you can of course indulge in their fabulous wine tasting for $ 7 – 10 for members. I’m determined to go to more of the Epicurean menus in the coming months. Lynfred remains one of my favorite places in the Chicago ‘Burbs and I’m so happy to be a member of their Wine Club!
