They are always friendly when I go here. I have had the brownie cupcake which is delicious as well as the red velvet cake which was ok and an egg salad sandwich. I also had an elmo cupcake. It was very cute, but nothing spectacular.

If you’re looking for a bakery with a deli that sells Boar’s Head products within arm’s reach, then Pinho’s Bakery is your place! Perhaps the best thing about this bakery is the fact that there is a great selection of different cakes, pastries, cupcakes, and breads to choose from. Weekends appear to be particularly busy, but that’s good news for those expecting freshly baked goodies. «Cigars»(1x Raspberry, 1x Chocolate, and 1x Apricot): These are light, sweet, crispy, nutty, and delicious. Each one is well balanced in flavor. You could taste each of the ingredients without one overpowering another. My least favorite, however, is the raspberry. I found it overly tart and excessively sweet to my liking. In order of preference, I would go for the chocolate, apricot, then the raspberry. Cream Horn: I finally found a place that makes these exactly how I like them. The dough is very light and crispy, while the cream is quite rich and flavorful. The dusting of powdered sugar adds another hint of sweetness. I definitely enjoyed these with tea. Cheese Horseshoe: These giant pastries are $ 10 each and filled with a sweet and creamy cheese filling. The dough is probably like a light croissant, if that makes sense. I would definitely order this again. Note: Try to eat it within two days or it’ll be dry and a bit chewy. Pasteis de Nata: Pinho’s has been making them since 1977, so they must be doing something right. The custard’s sweetness is just right and not overly sweet like other places. However, I’m a bit bummed that it doesn’t have burnt edges, but that’s a non-issue. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the Tiramisu. My family likes it, but I’d give it a 2⁄5. It’s basically two inches of whipped cream topping, while the cake itself is barely half an inch. The Chocolate Mousse Tart is delicious, particularly the mousse, but the ganache was too sweet for me. There are also these small rectangle chocolate bars that have nuts on the top. I have no clue what it’s called(no label), but it has a soft chocolate filling and a light biscuit base. Overall, I’ll come back to try more of what they offer.

Their customer service is unbelievable. I ordered a smash cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday photo shoot from another bakery. When I picked it up, it was a jumbo cupcake instead of a cupcake cake. I called several bakeries and no one could do anything for me last minute. I called my photographer and she recommended this bakery. The woman who answered was so sweet and helpful. She asked me to text her a picture of the cake we wanted. I called her back after the picture was sent and she told me they would gladly make it. Mind you, this is for the same day. To top it off, their prices are even cheaper than the first place I ordered from(she could’ve charged me double and I would’ve paid it bc I was desperate). I will definitely be using them for future events.

I have been buying cakes, pastries, and sandwiches for the past several years from Pinho’s and I never had a complaint until this year. I ordered a cake for my birthday and it was sooooo dry. I was in such disbelief and very disappointed. I am afraid to buy another cake that would not only disappoint me but my guests as well who bluntly stated that they did not enjoy the cake. Their sandwiches are reasonable and delicious but lately when I go to the bakery in the morning, it’s a big turn off when I see this older woman wearing glasses touch bread and prepare sandwiches WITHOUT gloves after I saw her changing the coffee filter and pot. She never went to the restroom to wash her hands nor put gloves on. Very unsanitary and the owner/manager should have every worker in that bakery wear gloves and hair net/caps when dealing with food/pastries.

Nice place with lots of people so they must be doing something right. I had the pecan chocolate bar which was excellent At 1.50 and a medium coffee which was very good not burnt not bitter or overly strong for another 1.50 Some of the pastries look excellent and some look average so look carefully and check the prices they appear to be a little bit all over the place. I’ll definitely keep coming back when I’m in the area.

Asked for a chocolate croissant to be heated. They told me no heat. I said ok. Give me a nata. They don’t know what natas are. I asked for a coffee. They directed me to the gas station like self serve Walter b law coffee. To say that I am underwhelmed is quite an understatement.

The best place to get a dessert, always clean, good service and delicious treats! They should be open until late. I recommend the natillas and the pumkin natillas are my favorites!

Came here because a friend recommended it. Ordered half a dozen custard cups, one elephant ear, one cookie and one cannoli. The custard cups were ok nothing I would go out of my way for. Cookie was so dry and elephant ear is suppose to taste flaky and sugary but instead it was stale and had cinnamon on it. My husband said the shell fell apart and they had pre filled it because parts of it were soggy. he said it doesn’t hold a candle to Bovella’s cannolis. Please keep in mind they have a $ 10 cc minimum. I didn’t know until I went to pay for my half order of custard cups and then Kept having to add items to make the minimum. I was so disappointed with this bakery as it has good reviews on Unilocal.I am in the minority but I feel the pastries are overpriced and don’t warrant the cost.$ 3.50 for a cupcake is too much.

Love Love Love this bakery. The huge selection of treats always makes it hard to decide what to get. Why only 4 stars, because at times the attitude the employees have drives me INSANE. I understand it gets busy on Sunday’s, before holidays, etc. but don’t take it out on your customers.

I ordered a red velvet cake for a church event. I found out about this place because a coworker purchased one to celebrate another coworker’s birthday. Let me tell you… This red velvet cake was the truth!!! Everyone loved it! Old and young they wanted more. It was moist and it wasn’t too sweet… It was perfect!!! People wanted to know where did I get the cake from … It was a hit!

Picked up my mom’s birthday cake here. They did a great job decorating it and it was delicious. The price was pretty fair too :) The only thing I didn’t like is that I had to stand on a long line to pick it up. There was a spot for cake pick up but you can’t get to it without standing in the order line. It was the day before valentines day so that probably had something to do with the crowd. The person who took my order was very pleasant though.

It’s not terrible but it’s not great. Employees looked bored, Coffee was burnt and the pastries were not impressive. I’d rather travel another 10 minutes and go to North Ave Bakery, at least I know the coffee is always flowing and the pastries have flavor.

Wow! I love walking distance from Pinho’s. Moving to Roselle from Staten Island was a pretty easy transition; but finding a new set of great local places to eat posed a problem. A very dear friend of mine put me on to this deli/bakery. And I am forever in his debt. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING from Pinho’s is delicious and affordable!!! Their deli sandwiches have the perfect meat and cheese ratio. And they use boars head cold cuts, which is a huge selling point for me. Any pastry I’ve had from here has been amazing. I’m especially fond of the pecan bars, the reeses peanut butter tarts, and the famous custard cups are to die for!!! Like nothing I’ve ever had. My husband LOVES the black and white cookies. Long story short, I can never visit Pinho’s with just one thing. I’ve gotten a half dozen custard cups, two black and whites, a tart, a loaf of fresh baked Italian bread and some cookies for just under $ 20. Even their pizza dough is amazing. Affordable and delicious! If you live nearby, this is the place to be. Thank God it’s walking distance; so I can burn off some of the weight I’m going to put on by visiting Pinho’s weekly!!!

I can’t believe I’ve been living so close to this bakery for years and only just discovered it. Hooray for deli/bakery combos. Pinho’s closes at 6pm on Sundays. The crowd scurrying toward its doors at 5:55pm when I was leaving is a testament to the fact that it has made its way into the weekend tradition of many families… and now mine. I can personally vouch for the raspberry cigars, chocolate meringue cookies, and whole wheat rolls. The raspberry cigar was flaky and generously filled. The chocolate meringue was fudgey(might be making up a word, but you get me) and had walnut pieces, and the rolls were deliciously rustic with grain pieces. I will definitely be back to try some of the deli items. There is casual seating inside, and outdoor bistro seating on the brick patio. Definitely a future spot for lunches out, or for those times you need to camp out and work in a coffee shop. Service is quick with lots of people behind the counter on the weekend. They recommend coming early in the morning for the best selection of buns before they sell out.

Ok, as far as bakeries go, this seems to be one of the last of the old time bakery shoppes. What does that mean? Well a lot of local bakeries have closed up over the years due to large retail in-store bakeries, what is know in the industry as slack and pack… It’s just not the same… Years ago local pastry shoppes made and baked all product on the premises. Oh well, sign of the times, I suppose. Pinho’s has a full line of fresh variety and their prices are pretty reasonable too. Store hours are great and practical too. They make a pretty good Babka too, my favorite is the chocolate. Parking is Ok, they have a side lot and parking is available across the street too. Staff is friendly and they keep the line moving, some days it’s gets pretty long. Especially, around the Holidays, which it is recommended to order a head of time if you can…
