House Special Ramen is pretty good, the soup is very very delicious. Love the presentation, my Ramen looked exactly like the picture on their poster. Cooking time is about 10 Min, looks like it is one man shop but the chef was really friendly.

I tried the special that they have 3.95 for hot and sour ramen. I’m sure the size you get for this one is smaller than the ones when you actually pay full price. But I was looking for a snack to eat and was actually pretty glad that it was this small. The rest of the ramen are 6.95. It’s located in the food court, where all the other shops are super cheap so it’s no wonder they had to create a 4 dollar ramen to compete with the other chinese and vietnamese shops/restaurants who have been around since before I was born! I really love this food court, and I really love eating at food courts! Besides the ones that are at malls haha, they’re usually really authentic and affordable. This ramen place uses chicken soup as their base, most ramen places uses pork it tasted good to me, although I don’t know if using chicken base is authentic to Japanese culture or not?

This place took me by surprise. It offers some really amazing house ramen. Ramen noodles have a nice spring to it and the broth has the right amount of potency. The Korean Green Onion Pancake was solid as well. Decent for a moderately filling meal.

I love this little place! The braised pork that comes with the noodles is so good!!! Definitely worth getting extra meat with your order. I know, from previous experiences at other restaurants, always get extra noodles when getting ramen(unless you are tiny).

This place is a hidden gem for ramen. My sisters always come here and I keep hearing from them that this place is affordable and very good. I just had to tey it for myself. I ordered the miso ramen and my sisters got the spicy house ramen. I asked for extra meat on mine because I wanted to try their meat and it was good. The wait was a little longer, but there was only 1 employee, which I think was the owner and he had to take orders and make the ramen. For 3 ramen it came out to a little over $ 21, and my sister told him to keep the change from $ 25. He doesn’t have a tip bowl, which my sisters and I agreed that he should. Anyway, the soup base is a little thicker than other places and I was told it had collegen in it. Another plus! The ramen bowls are less that $ 7 and it you want to add more items it is and additional $ 1. Affordable!

I wasn’t a fan of the ramen here. The pork belly was very thick. I’m used to thin slices. The broth … didn’t like it. It wasn’t rich tasting, rather tasted old. 2 stars because the older man was very nice and served it all by himself.

After our appointment in the local area, my daughter wanted noodles for breakfast. Most of the food court was closed due to Lunar New Year and she said she’d like ramen. I personally would not eat here but it’s what she wanted. I got her the House Ramen, $ 4.95 excluding tax. It took 10 minutes to make and was served in a ceramic bowl. The broth looked really rich and they claim to not use MSG and is made with a chicken base. My daughter really liked it until she found a hair in the soup :) Earlier I ate the hard boiled egg and removed the weird looking piece of pork belly coiled into the shape of snail: o

Some people complain that Chocho’s ramen isn’t as great as the others. I would disagree. I think that this place is great! I went there today for lunch and got the house ramen for ~$ 5, that’s their special before noon. The soup is a bit on the thicker side. Was it good? I think so. I loved the way he cooked the egg, it’s a bit half-done so the yolk is creamy but not overly creamy. You do get one slice of pork belly, and it’s a bit thick. I’m fine with it, but some people may prefer thinner slices. From what I can tell, this is a one-man operation, so props to Mr. Chocho-san for running everything himself. I will definitely be back again.

This was … Disappointing. We went in hungry and forgiving and ended up not finishing our lunches. My husband and I both ordered the house ramen — husband got extra meat. What a waste. The meat tastes like thanksgiving pork — big, tough rounds that were inappropriate for soup(ESP. with chopsticks). The broth was oddly flavorless with a hint of pork and fish — and it wasn’t really very hot. The noodles were thick and starchy — something was off. It tasted cheap — not quality. We were bummed.

QUICKREVIEW: Just had lunch here. The last time I was in The Square Food Court, I didn’t see ChoCho’s Ramen. However, today I was in search of a quick lunch and opted for some ramen(even though I had some last night) SERVICE: Quick & easy. Just order and the man writes down what you want. CASHONLY. RAMEN: All their ramen is ~$ 7 except for the hot & sour one which is ~$ 5(?) as part of a promotional deal. I got the miso ramen and my friend got the house ramen. Both were really weird tasting. The broth was WAAAY too creamy and tasted closer to curry than actual ramen. It came with 1 slice of chashu pork, which was soft and tender, but cut way too thick to be enjoyable. Egg only comes with the house ramen, and not the miso. OVERALL: Wouldn’t come here again — even if I was craving ramen for lunch. I’d rather just wait to go to Ajisen, Kosuke, or Shin-Sen-Gumi.

I came here with my mother the other day, without even thinking about coming here at all. This spot is located in the food court of the Square Market/Plaza, which I think, looks the cleanest booth compared to the other ones– presentation wise. Anyways, the menu wasn’t a lot– it was rather… short? Nonetheless, no MSG and all the broth is made from natural collagen– which is supposedly healthy. I ended up with the Hot & Sour Ramen… mini version for only $ 4! What a catch! Although it was a tad greasy, it was still pretty good and definitely hit the spot. It wasn’t super filling, but for $ 4, you can’t really go wrong with that. As for service, it was decent. Our cashier did take awhile to get the ramen out, but I’m sure he was just adding some love to the bowl! Hehe. Overall, this is a good place, if you’re on a budget. I wish there were more of a selection on ramen, or if there were more mini versions(because the mini was super worth it). I would definitely come back, especially since it is in a food court and I’m pretty much a loaner nowadays without much friends. Turn Ons: — Cheap mini version of the Hot & Sour Ramen. Turn Offs: — CASHONLY.

It’s lunch and I’m feeling for some soup. Phở??? Nah. Mein??? Mmm no… wait what’s this? Ramen nearby that I haven’t been to? Sold! Service: Assuming the guy who took my order was the owner. Very nice. Menu was a bit weird. Wanted a spicy miso with slice pork instead of ground. But they won’t allow substitutes. I ask if I can just get the base for the spicy with the regular miso ingredients, he suggest I order the regular miso and than points at a bottle of siracha as a suggesting that will and spicy to my soup… I just order the spicy miso and saw I can add an pork topping for a dollar, not bad. He also threw in half an egg for me with no charge. Food: sorry to say its the worst ramen I have ever eaten. The soup was very creamy and was not spicy. I have temperature spots all over my bowl; some spot are cold, luke warm, and hot o_O… its hit where the noodles are, the ground meat was a glob and cold; so were the noodles and ground meat, where the meat and and noodle meets would be Luke warm. Then the far side would be cold where the broth and ground meat meets. Sliced pork was not tender. Soup base was salty and creamy, this I cant say it taste like Japanese ramen(I know about origin of ramen; but I’m always gonna compare the word ramen with Japanese.) I don’t see how other ramen lover comparing this place to other ramen places they have been eating. Conclusion: again good service and crappy ramen. I won’t be back.

Good Japanese Ramen in a food court, who knew? This little spot is different from other Japanese ramen restaurants in the neighborhood, in that their soup is chicken based instead of pork based like Shi Shen Gumi and Fujisan. The soup is nice and thick and tasty. The noodle is just ok, but given the $ /satisfaction, bang for the buck perspective, this is an excellent place to eat some good ramen. I’d ate here three times already, and tried 3 types of ramen: house special = my favorite, excellent stuff miso ramen = not bad, very thick soup. spicy miso = not as good as the house special or miso. I think the chili they used didn’t go so well w/the soup.

3 stars. Chocho’s is L.A. food court ramen, plain and simple. While the product(the house tonkotsu ramen) represents a good and courageous effort to introduce ramen to the food court populated by mostly Chinese/Vietnamese offerings, it probably won’t win over any ramen purists. Located in the food court of The Square supermarket at the intersection of Garvey and San Gabriel, it adds choice to a food court with mostly Chinese and Vietnamese, and maybe a Korean outfit or two. Chocho’s ramen is likely to have some Korean in its pedigree. At full price, it comes out to be a pretty penny around $ 7 and then it’s just a couple of bucks shy of running with the big dogs(like Ton-Chan), but the value quotient rises if you catch a breakfast ramen special, about $ 5. Neither the broth nor the noodles are serious contenders against serious and established ramen outlets(even including another food court player, Santouka), but I will say that the 6-hour broth is actually not shy with flavor and quite rich with collagen, which is one of the selling points at Chocho, namely that the broth is MSG-free and that the collagen promotes skin and joint health. The house tonkotsu ramen isn’t bad, particularly because the broth is quite rich and leaves your lips sticky from the dissolved collagen. Avoid the hot and sour soup noodles, which were quite spicy for my taste, but also a very uni-dimensional type of spicy heat, like it came from a jar of spicy bean paste. Verdict: Good to have choices in The Square’s food court. Chocho brings a decent bowl of ramen with some health-related claims to the game, but ramen purists might not be impressed, particularly with a price point that verges on ramen-ya fare. I would go back, especially if I can catch a breakfast special. «A-OK», padded with loads of points from the collagen-rich broth.

Out and about running errands, I had a sudden urge for ramen. With my trusty Unilocal app, I was directed to Chocho’s Ramen, which was the ONLY ramen shop in my current vicinity and it was just down the street. Sweet! Unfortunately, I should have just waited for something better –_– Located in the Square Supermarket, I had hesitations about food court ramen when I parked my car. Then again Santouka(which I love) is located in a supermarket food court, so this could be good, right? I ordered a Spicy Miso, and honestly I didn’t want to finish it. But I did anyways, cuz I was taught to not waste food. Plus I was outta cash lol. The soup was luke-warm and bland and the miso mixture was just flat out salty. At only $ 7 something a bowl, it was just $ 7 too much. I could have gotten 7 tacos for that price! Or 2 banh mi sandwiches. Or ANYTHING else. Seriously.

Pretty decent ramen, the Spicy Miso tastes better than the regular house ramen becaues I really like my stuff salty/spicy. Also, negative nancy with the 1 star review seems really fishy. Anyways, 7 bucks for Ramen with no need for a tip sounds good to me anyday.

I’ve been here 2 times already and the Ramen is delicious. the texture of their ramen is soft, but not too soggy. Their chicken broth is without a doubt NOMSG! In recent fast foods i’ve been too, there has been alot of MSG and you know it when your mouth get dry and thirsty right after you eat, BUTNOTAT chocho’s! Their prices are fair and they offer many variety of soups. All priced accordingly at $ 6.95 they offer house style, vegetarian, spicy miso, regular miso and a few other choices. DO give chocho’s a try! You pay for what you get!
