Everyone here is nice and comforting. Dr. Hou is a skillful dentist and is a smooth talker. It is obvious the office tries to sell you on procedures that you do not need some times. I added my fiancé to my insurance plan where teeth cleaning is free every 6 months. When I found out she paid for teeth cleaning, she discovered many past charges for procedures she never did. A clear example of up selling that happened to several people I know is recommendation to see a TMJ specialist to do possible surgery to correct the issue. He sits you down on the chair, examines your jaw, makes it seem like a big issue. If you research TMJ surgery, there is low success rate and a lot of dentist would not recommend wasting your money. There are several issues that may cause the problem, so you need to figure out what is the cause and remedy with non-surgical procedures first. No explanation about that. Surgery is the recommendation right off the bat. My current dentist has worse TMJ than mine and firmly recommended no way on surgery. I would have stayed at this office, but left after this experience with my fiancé. Dr. Hou is good and communicates well, but just be careful on what they recommend. Is it necessary or not?

I drove from San Jose to LA over night and by the time I got to LA, my molar was killing me. I went to Dr. Hou on an emergency and he was able to see me and alleviate the pain. He and his staff were amazing. I have never met a nicer group of people. very professional yet personable and caring!

Be careful patients! All this doctor cares about is $$$. I have insurance and the insurance covers cleaning. But he still charges me $ 45 for cleaning. Here is the medical billing code that the receptionist gave me. D4355– $ 45. D1352– $ 95. And I check the insurance benefit and I found out D4355 — No cost. D1352 — No cost. I insisted that I don’t want x-ray and he still wanted to take the x-ray because $ is all he cares. Please make sure you check with them before you make the appointment. And make sure you have a copy of your insurance benefit before you let them check your teeth. You don’t want them to double charge you and this is why our insurance premium keeps going up. Thanks for this type of doctor!
