I recently took my eight-month old dog to Planet Pet(big mistake!) and had the most disturbing experience. When I went to pick up my dog, he was clearly traumatized. Firstly, he was bleeding a lot from his paw, and no matter how much styptic powder the groomer/owner put on his nail(s), the bleeding would not stop and it continued to bleed quite a bit after we got home. The owner kept blaming my dog, saying he might have pushed his paw forward when she was clipping him and might have clipped him too close. Clearly she did clip him too close; it was not a question of «might». But still, I gave her(owner) the benefit of the doubt and I figured, despite all the years of experience she claims to have, accidents can happen. What I didn’t realised right then was that this was only the first sign of other, more disconcerting, problems. Immediately when we saw our dog, he was disoriented and shaking his head non-stop, as if he was trying to get something out of his ears. Again, the owner gave me more excuses. She said she didn’t think anything went down his ear canal — but then couldn’t tell me why he was so shaken up and irritated by his ears. She suggested I might want to take him to a vet! I was taken aback by her comment. How could a perfectly happy, calm and healthy dog before he went in to the groomers, now have to be taken to the vet? As it turned out, the groomer/owner shaved the inside of his ears and ended up scraping the tips of his ears! No wonder he was traumatized and hiding under tables for five days after the grooming session. Our dog developed very large scabs on the ends of both ears where he was cut. I highly do NOT recommend this groomer. Furthermore, she lied to me and said that she was at the«top of the list or near the top» recommendation by area animal clinics. I called the clinics she named and, not surprisingly, that is not true! Save yourself the anguish and a vet bill, not to mention a hurt and traumatized pet, by staying clear of this place.
