In my mind, this is more of a meditation center than a B&B. I showed up unannounced, and the staff were very kind to me and allowed me to meditate in the very sweet and intimate mediation room. They also have weekly programming for locals and follow the Shambhala tradition of meditation. This was in contrast to Blue Cliff Monestary, which I by-passed today b/c when I called them on the phone, I was told curtly that they are only open to the public on Thursdays. Shambhala Sky Lake will accept you, whenever you show up. Keep in mind that it’s a small facility and that you have to drive on a very narrow country road for about 2 miles. Make sure to check out the charming town of Rosendale, which is less than 5 – 10 minutes away.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 New York, NY
I recently used Skylake Lodge bed and breakfast for my Yoga Retreat(April, 2013), and it was WONDERFUL! The location is a lovely, easy ride from New York City. It is secluded, quiet, and very peaceful. The staff is amazing and very attentive, kind, and supportive to your needs. Each room in the bed and breakfast is different and unique, with its own private bathroom and balcony! Some balconies look over the reflecting pond and woods while the other side of the lodges balconies look over the woods and the parking lot, but it is not a big deal since you wont be driving, you will be relaxing! The Koi fish in the pond and the 18 acres of trails on the property are wonderful for peaceful strolls. They hold meditations every week if you want to add that to your stay. The food is wonderful and they can cater your needs. Just bring your own sweets if you have a sweet tooth ;) I recommend staying here, even if you are not taking a yoga retreat!
