Smoked stacked lightening is my go-to item!!! Husband loves the detroiter, pulled pork, brisket… you name it. Love all of their sauces. Fries are great. Personally, I could go without the pickled veggies bc they aren’t my thing. Great prices. Only downside(maybe it’s not a downside and an advantage???) Is communal seating for about 3 – 5 people.

This place. This is it. The place that inspired heaven. The food is amazing! It’s become a Christmas Eve tradition the last few years to pick up Lazybone’s and have a pajama party. They have a huge selection, great family/party options, and the prices aren’t too bad. The pulled pork is 12 out of 10, and the beef brisket is glorious. Seriously, if you’re a fan of meat, this is the place for you.

There pulled pork is amazing and the candy apple sauce is delicious as well. I live half a mile from there and stop in once and a while for dinner. The smell is amazing walking in there and the food is as well

Their smoked wings are the bomb. Today I tried the smoked wings, Burnt Brisket Ends, the Broasted Chicken and the Greens, everything was Tasty, but I have to say the Broasted chicken, burnt ends and Greens were on the Salty side, tasty but salty… now that being said the sauces they have covers the saltyness up But can’t do anything for the Greens, as tasty as they are I’m still going to eat them I’ll deal with my Doctor later ! The place still gets 5 Stars… Easy in the salt ???

I know you’re wondering how you can give a 5-star review to a tiny Smokehouse like lazy bones. Well they just do everything right from the pulled pork sandwiches to their Pig fries to they’re $ 6 specials that they have every day the specials rotate so you can come there every week and find a different special for lunch. The ribs are delicious but for me I’m addicted to the burnt ends they are cooked to perfection and with Lazybones vast array of barbecue sauces you can always change up the flavor just a little bit by trying one of their different BBQ sauces. If you’re in the area make sure you stop at lazy bones it will be worth it don’t forget to try their Pig candy which is delicious and very addictive. They also have smoked bacon brownies another awesome dessert. When you stop at lazy bones try it all because it’s all good. Oh by the way did I mention the cornbread yeah they do make their own cornbread everytime I go there I have to grab a couple pieces to go. Lazybones has the program dialed in when you want BBQ come by Lazybones you will not be disappointed.

I have lived in the south half my life and this was superb BBQ. A perfect combo of moist and smoky which is the hardest thing to do. I got the all smoked meats sampler and was impressed with every option. Should be a go to if you are in the area.

Today was the first time at this location with my boyfriend. On the outside, you won’t miss this place because of thier large sign BBQ. I may consider this place a bit of a hole in the wall. Once you walk inside though, it is bright and great décor. The bright color walls, the menus on the screen, and photos of Detriot. The service was super. The cashier was friendly, sweet, and helpful. You are also able to see the kitchen so you are able to see the communication between the kitchen and front end. We ordered Smokestack Lightning, Carolina Pulled Pork, and Chicken Po Boy sandwiches. They came with pickles and fries The portions are large! I wasn’t able to eat much of my sides. The food if a definite 5⁄5 Also, they will provide the sauces if you can’t decide.

The two and three meat combos are no longer available, everything is ala carte. Meats are in ¼, ½, &1 lb increments; sides are small and large. Prices are roughly the same, Lazybones still offers a military discount. Still the best bbq I’ve found in Michigan so far! Do yourself a favor and check it out! Must repeat and recommend!

Pretty good. I’d give a perfect score as a rating if they had a nice spot to sit and eat. Other than that this place has some very excellent BBQ. I would recommend this spot.

I would have given this little bbq joint five stars if not for the meat. Sadface. I had the pulled pork and beef brisket. While both were tasty, the meat was dry on both. No, dumping a bunch of sauce on top doesn’t fix that. My son loved his ribs, though, they were huge and meaty. That said, the portions are generous — all of us brought home leftovers. The sides we had were totally delicious! I even joked that the next time I came here, I’d just make a meal of the sides. Greens: It’s hard to find good greens around these parts, and this place nails them perfectly. Ranch fries: So good! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with a nice flavor. Loved them. Mac n cheese: Creamy and decadent. Not dry. Way better than Bad Brads or some others I’ve tried. Cornbread: Melts in your mouth, and wasn’t dry, either. A large selection of Faygo pop to wash it all down. While this is mostly a carryout place(there are two tables inside), they do have a decent outside seating area with tables. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. I liked that the area was enclosed by corrugated metal to block the parking lot and the view of traffic on Groesbeck. We were the only ones sitting out there on a busy Saturday evening. Fine by me!

It would be a crime to my list of barbecue places if I did not at least mention the things that Lazybones Smokehouse does. A local hometown hero for your taste buds if you will. I’m not crowning these guys anything, but it’s tough to argue that Lazybones wide variety of flavorful menu items & commitment to customers satisfaction is a reason I’m proud to say I’m a regular. They have great fall of the bone ribs, moist sliced brisket, sausage, pulled pork & smoked chicken. They also have Metro Detroit’s best one of a kind smoked baked beans. Slow cooked with yesterdays scraps, then tossed in a pan & smoked along side the days meats. If that cornbread ain’t Superman’s kryptonite I don’t know what it is. Everyone has a their own preference when it comes to mack & cheese but I’m a fan of the thick & gooey cheese sauce tossed with noodles and topped with more cheese & baked for a bit. I’ve had the pig candy here more then a couple times & I gotta admit, it’s just another item you get disappointed about if it doesn’t make that days order(whether it be lack of funds or the size of your appetite). To be honest this is what sets the bar for me as far as candied bacon goes folks. If you keep track of all the categories they seem to do things well in, sauces would be no exception. I mean pass me the bottle before my kids start squirting it in their mouth it’s good. All of them. Sweet, inferno, doesn’t matter, just mix a few together & you’ve created your own! If you haven’t visited Lazybones, «The Flavor Ambassador to Roseville», I’m not sure what the hell your waiting for. Thanks to Chef Deni for allowing us to host an UYE and putting out a buffet for us to try all the meats & sides he & his team have to offer. I wanted to put in a few more visits before I posted this review & now that I have, I would be willing to work for free to get an inside scoop of all the love that goes into Lazybones BBQ!

Hot damn! This BBQ is among the best I have had anywhere in Michigan, which is saying something considering how many BBQ places exist and how many of them actually do it right. This place seems like it’s almost an illusion considering where it is located and how small it is. It kind of reminds me of Lil Z’s in terms of space and eating at the place of business: there are only a handful of tables inside, if that, while there is picnic table seating outside behind a fence(yes, you have privacy so nobody can see that all BBQ sauce that is all over your face). The place is primarily known for take out it seems, and on their website they even have a «take out hotline» you call — perhaps for lunch or dinner — where you can order on the phone and by the time you arrive it’s usually ready. It’s pretty clutch. The employees are nice and patient, describing all the sauces and meals very well. Their website is really good as well if you want a gander at the menu — which is pretty large, by the way. They also have $ 6 specials every month, such as three big chicken wings with jalapeño and pepper jack mac n cheese for August 2015. It’s a cool thing to have, and they switch it up every month and post the info on their Facebook page. OK, on to the nitty gritty: the food. The pulled pork is where it’s at. For lunch one day I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which comes on a big onion roll(look like a burger bun) and you can add lettuce, tomatoes and fried onions if you wish. The thing is HUGE, and after one bite sauce and pulled pork spill out the sides. Hey, it’s BBQ and it’s messy. Deal with it. It came with broasted ranch fries, which were like huge potato skins. Mmm mmm good. The mac ‘n cheese is awesome and isn’t really the breadcumb-type mac ‘n cheese you see at other places, FYI. It’s tasty and filling. They also have rib tips, burnt ends, chicken wings(boneless or with bone), a ton of sides, etc. Like I said, it’s a big menu and offers something for everyone. The chef knows what he is doing, and it’s no fluke that people come in and out every day to eat this stuff. It’s like a hidden gem right off 696… the best part is when you pull in, get out of your car and smell all the BBQ. It makes my mouth watery just thinking about it.

Lazy Bones has a rustic and authentic barbecue atmosphere. I ordered the brisket and pulled chicken with two of Lazy Bone’s most popular sauces. One with a honey mustard base, and another more traditional barbecue blend. The pulled chicken was slow cooked and tenderized well, with added seasonings that somewhat improved the already amazing flavor. The brisket was thick cut but without the fully bodied flavor I would hope for following up the chicken. The sauces themselves were yummy, but fell short of other similar barbecue experiences. **TL;DR** Lazy Bones will not disappoint, especially if you’re a big pulled chicken fan. Milage may vary for brisket snobs, but it’s still pretty good, especially if you slather it in one of their signature sauces.

Thinking about the mac & cheese makes my mouth water!!! Every time we are on the east side we have to get Lazy bones! This place is awesome to dine in or even take out. They serve Faygo pop in many varieties and it really is a nice addition to any dish. The coleslaw is tangy, fresh and cool. I could eat a bucket of the coleslaw. Speaking of eating buckets, the mac and cheese — trough please! It’s so ooey gooey and rich. It does NOT have breadcrumbs which I LOVE and it’s always filled to the brim in any container size. I try to stick with a small size because I can easily go overboard on the portions… It’s the best side dish they have! The BBQ platter is the way to go if you want to have it all. All the meat is tender and juicy and honestly, you don’t even want the BBQ sauce however, it’s always good slathered in some sweet, tangy, or spicy sauce. I enjoy the pulled pork sandwich. The heaping portion of tender pork is filling! The bun’s are always fresh and large enough to hold the weight of any meat you desire. The best part about lazybones dishes is the CORNBREAD! Man, is it good. Fluffy, buttery, moist little square of sweetness. Can’t beat the quality, quantity, and prices of this awesome place!

So the 4 stars are for the food, I had the 2 meat combo and that was WAY too much food. The meats were the ribs and beef brisket. Ribs were awesome, the beef was a little chewy. But not only did you get plenty of meat, they also give a LARGE serving of 2 sides and a big piece of delicious corn bread. I had the impression that this was a sit down place but it’s not, there’s a counter where you order your food and there are 2 tables to sit at but all intents it’s a take out place. There are also a few tables outside but it’s not the most pleasant place to eat at. I had all that and a bottle of water for less than 20 bucks, can’t beat it.

Probably the best BBQ I’ve had. I got the Texas Sampler for thirty bucks which comes with a sampling of all of their meats and two sides. The sampler includes beef brisket, pulled pork, rib tips, burnt ends, spareribs, a chicken thigh and breast, cajun pork sausage, and turkey breast. So hey, for $ 30, you’re getting quite a bit of food. For sides, I chose the mac and cheese and the beans. Alright, so I’ll start with what I liked best… the beef brisket, excellent. Maybe very, very slightly overcooked but that’d be a nit-pick. Great smoke ring, awesome flavor. The pulled pork was also very good. To my surprise, I also really, really liked the chicken thigh and breast I got — I tend to be weird about chicken on a bone(says the guy who has no problem munching on a rib), but this was excellent. A little smokey, really tender and juicy. I’m generally not a big fan of turkey, but the turkey here is great to me mostly because the smoke pretty much overpowers the meat, which is a no-no by any BBQers book. The cajun pork sausage was also pretty tasty, but sausage is already salty as it is — adding cajun seasoning was almost overkill. Great flavor, but the saltiest thing in the sampler. The burnt ends were also pretty tasty — fatty, juicy, burnt, crunchy. I didn’t think they were as Godly as so many people on Unilocal seem to think, but they were still pretty freakin’ good. What I didn’t care as much for were the rib tips and spare ribs. The rib tips(I think that’s what they were, anyway) were basically rock hard and like BBQ’d jerky. They had a good flavor, but they were painful to eat. Something went wrong there. The spare ribs are above average, but they were still a touch too dry. Again, that’s a bit of a nit-pick. Really, the rib tips are the only thing I’d not get again. Most impressive about Lazybones, I think, is that you really don’t need much — if any — BBQ sauce. There’s loads of flavor in the meat, smoke, and seasoning as it is. It’s definitely nice to get some sweet sauce in there though to get through all the sodium. Speaking of sauces, the Inferno sauce which is labelled as their hottest sauce is 1.) Not all that spicy and 2.) Essentially a hot sauce, not a BBQ sauce. As salty as the meat all is, being as it’s BBQ, it doesn’t really need it. The honey garlic sauce I used more of… mm, mm. The mac and cheese is better than many places I’ve had, but not my favorite… I don’t know if it was a fluke, but it seemed too salty. I liked the flavor, but tone down the salt! The beans here are stupid good though, and some of – if not thee — best I’ve had. Lazybones is about as good as I had expected given all the praise. It’s a bit of a shame they’re not in a bigger place so there’s a proper dining area, but I’ll take what I can get. Go to Lazybones the next time you want BBQ — eat it in the car if you have to. Now excuse me, I’m going to slip myself into a meat coma.

Love at first sight the first time I was here last week. Today I decided to try their weekly special of Rib Tips. It’s fortunate that 1st impressions last, because if today’s food would have been for my first try here, I’d never be back. Today’s rating would be 3-stars at best. The rib tips were terrible. Yeah, the sauce was good. But almost all the meat was gristle and fat. And if smoked correctly, ribs(I know) shouldn’t fall off the bone, but they SHOULD tear off the bone easily. These rib tips were just… bad. I’d say 25% of these things were edible. The potato chunks with peppers and onions were good. Nothing special, but easily the best part of the meal. Well, actually… the bacon brownie was the best part of the meal :) Finally, I’m going to complain about the service. Last time we were here, our friend’s meal was held up for a good 5 – 10 minutes even though she ordered the same time as us and ordered something similar. This time, we were told it’d be 5 – 10 minutes for our food. 25MINUTESLATER, we finally got something. It’s one thing to be off a couple minutes, but it seems an ongoing habit to purposefully underestimate ETAs. That’s just poor service. I’m still looking forward to going back, but I can easily say another bad experience like this will end it for me.

Once again the $ 5 BI-Weekly special stole the show Pulling in at 10:20 and thankful they open at 10 am! I did not call ahead, but the $ 5 special is always a hit Today it was a Pulled Pork Burrito, on a Mexicantown Flour Tortilla cilantro lettuce tomato rice pepperjack cheese Was very very good! I wonder if Chef Deni would consider grilling it for extra flair? Or a flash fry for some quick crunch? excepcional!
