Just stopped in for a consultation and will never return! I was seen by Beverly who looked at my hair in a bored and disinterested manner and then informed me that without using ‘product’ as in the pricy Aveda line they sold, I would not be happy with my cut. Are all Aveda salons this rude?

I hugely dislike getting my hair cut in the DC area because the prices are so exorbitant for my relatively simple needs. While one wouldn’t think the Boston area would less expensive, I was grateful to find the nearby Centre Cuts(with good Unilocal reviews, and a positive review from my niece) while I was in Roslindale visiting family. The stylist who cut my hair was relatively new, and due to still building her client base, even had a 10%. So, for wash, cut and style AND a generous tip I paid a total of $ 64. They offer a number of other services at reasonable prices, and the treatment rooms looked to be quiet and relaxing. If I lived in the area, I imagine I’d be a regular here.

Erika just gave me about the best deep tissue massage I have ever had. I will definitely be going back for more.

I’ve been looking for a new place for brazilian waxes recently and found Centre Cuts, halfway between my house and work so I gave it a try. The woman at the reception desk was extremely helpful and gave me some suggestions on places to grab takeout after my appointment. Thanks to their website, I now remember my waxer’s name — Patricia… I think she goes by Tricia but who knows. She did a great job. I’ve been getting waxes for over a decade and know the drill. She asked me if I wanted strip or hard wax or both which I REALLY appreciated. I cannot tell you how annoying it is when people think hard wax is far superior to strip wax. Hard wax is better for sensitive areas, but grabs nowhere near as much hair as strip wax does. Bottom line… if you use only hard wax for your Brazilian, you won’t get the smoothness you would with a combination. Patricia was also very funny and easy-going. We chatted about my recent move to JP and I shared some funny waxing stories with her. I would definitely go back. They also charge the standard $ 50 for a Brazilian. Not the best deal ever, but by no means the worst. I’ve seen places in JP that charge $ 65 for a Brazilian. As someone who takes 10 mins tops to do a Brazilian, that’s outrageous.

When I moved to Roslindale I was happy to find an Aveda concept salon right in the square. I have been 3 times, 3 cuts and 1 color, and have had great experiences. Terry, one of the owners, is a wonderful stylist and her experience shows. My most recent cut was one of the best I have had. I’d highly recommend this salon for a great cut at a good price.

I started going to Centre Cuts a few months ago for Brazilian waxes. However, this Saturday I had a 3:45 hair appointment with Janiris. Can I just say it is one of the best hair cuts & finishes I’ve ever had. My hair is not particularly difficult to cut & style but most blow outs end up in a matted mess the next day. It’s been 2 days I still have body & very VERY minimal tangles.(From throwing it up in a bun at night). Janiris was extremely professional & polite. She’s very talented. Her shampoo was fantastic! If you are tender headed then this is not the shampoo for you unless you let her know. Otherwise, she gets into that scalp & your head comes out clean as a whistle. I’m very impressed with not only her but also Trish & Erika’s wax. Both are very polite, professional, talkative. It’s been a long time since I could get all my services done in one spot. I have yet to experience any facials or nail services but eventually that will happen. Scheduling is great. The girls at the front desk always accommodate me & are very pleasant. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Just go, have fun & you won’t be sorry.

I love this place. Erica gives the most amazing facials; they not only make my skin look fabulous, they are also incredibly relaxing. She is also the quickest and most pain-free waxer ever.

I just got home from getting a haircut and loved my hair and the experience so much! I moved to Boston a few years ago and had yet to find a hairstylist that I actually like, so I thought I would try Centre Cuts Salon and Spa. Karen cut my hair, and talked through what I wanted and what she thought would work well with my face and hair type. I can honestly say I learned so much from her, just from her explaining what she was doing and how different styles help accentuate different aspects of one’s face and hairline. The salon is clean and well maintained. And although Aveda products are pricier, they smell so good and work really well.

Unfortunately I find myself once again in tears as I write this review. In short what took 3 months to grow back from a bad hair job just happened once again but far worse this time. Stylist was very nice but totally did the opposite of what was asked. Now I am left with frizz from a razor, which I had explained made my curly hair frizzy in the first place, that I know have to wait another few months to grow back out. Not to mention a very shapeless hair cut that I cannot do anything with. Horrible. Due to the bad haircut & frizz what used to take 10 minutes to do my hair now may take up to 30 – 40 minutes just to try & style plus control the frizz. Not to mention many more products. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible

If one more person asks me where I get my hair done, I’m going to get a big head! :-) Seriously — Miranda’s hair wash(so wonderful I fall asleep), her expert cut and blow dry and the overall friendly service and atmosphere directed by Terry and Edna, as well as Aveda product knowledge and advice are second to none. I’ve been to quite a number of the fancy spots on Newbury, and they ain’t got nuthin’ on Centre Cuts. I rarely use the spa services, but have had some lovely pedicures and restorative massages from time to time over the past several years. It had been way too long, however, and this past week I decided to change that. I had had a fall(darn winter ice and dog walking — not a good combination!) a few weeks back and my neck and back have been feeling progressively worse. I was dreading looking for a chiropractor, all the shenanagins of an xray, the regular visits that go on for years, etc. etc. Since I was in the neighborhood, I popped in on impulse to see if there was a massage time available. Fabulously, there was! In one half hour of bliss, Erika deftly manipulated me back to health! I am headache free for two days now, can turn my head as normal and swear my eyes are more fully open. The spa area is relaxing and lovely at Centre Cuts. The rooms, robes and scents are nothing short of luxurious. The staff is clearly expert and sophisticated. I don’t plan to fall again(winter is OVER, darnit), but let’s hope I remember to not allow such a significant gap to fall between my spa services at Centre Cuts again!

This review is specifically for the waxing services provided by Erika. I went in for an eyebrow wax and she did a great job and it was virtually painless, so I decided to trust my gut(which is 5.5 months pregnant, by the way!) and go to see her for a brazilian bikini wax this morning. She was outstanding. I was literally in and out in 15 minutes. She is friendly and personable, but when it comes to the waxing, she gets down to business and gets it done! Erika kept me «involved» and distracted, which I like… having me pull skin tight, etc. I was expecting 30 minutes of torture, but I got 15 minutes of a little pain, which was not at all as bad as I was dreading. I would highly recommend Erika for any waxing services. She is a PRO!

I have been a patron of Centre Cuts for about 14 years going back to when they were on Cetntre Street(thus the name). I find the ambiance of the salon very agreeable and a pleasant alternative to cheaper barber shops in the square. I paid $ 30 for my haircut, which is more than a barber shop, but the quality and service are worth it to me.

Tried this place for the first time. The stylist was very nice, but she did the exact opposite of what I asked her to do. She cut the top of my hair super short(and it’s wavy so now I just have really weird bang-type curls right over my eyes) and wouldn’t cut the length of it, which is what I went in for. It’s hard to tell the direction of something while someone is working and I trusted she was a pro, but nope. I had to asked her again to cut the length by my chin like I wanted it, but it was too late for the rest of my head. I didn’t even ask her to fix the back which was too long and now very awkward with the top being so short. I had to cut the mullet off myself when I got home. I’ll be hiding under a hat for 3 to 4 weeks which is sad after paying for it. Luckily it was not too expensive. Would not recommend this place, which is too bad because it’s cute and a convenient location.

Never been for a haircut but wanted to mention that Centre Cuts runs sales and specials on product during the times that the rozzie farmers market is operating down the street. It can be a good way to pick up that Aveda product for a little bit less …

Marinella cut my(medium length straight) hair. Nothing super fancy, but I was very happy with it. A great value for $ 35.

Centre Cuts has, for the last year or so, been my go-to spot for manicures and spa-style pedicures — now I’m happy to add deep tissue massages to that list! I finally treated myself to my very first massage, and I’m so glad I chose Centre Cuts. The friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere make every visit an all-around wonderful experience.

After a nightmare experience at another salon that left me looking like a skunk [wide very blond stripes on brown hair], Centre Cuts saved my hair. My son’s wedding was just two weeks away, and it was a relief to no longer face the prospect of resembling a woodland creature in the wedding photos. Thank you, Theresa. You are a saint.

Woohoo! Bangs! I haven’t had bangs since the 6th grade– which was quite a few years ago now, folks!– and so naturally, I was pretty nervous walking into a salon I’d never been to before to get my hair cut by a woman I’d never met before. But Miranda was awesome. I brought a picture of the look I was going for and described the rest as best I could, with lots of caveats — like please make it so I don’t have to spend any time on my hair. I don’t do blow-dryers. The result was so cool I had to post a pic of my new younger-looking self on FB. I haven’t had so many compliments in years! Plus, she didn’t try to make too much needless conversation. A big bonus in my book. Thanks to Unilocal for the tip.

I like the vibe of the salon. Its clean and cozy, and everyone is really friendly. I was disappointed with my experience, however. I got a pedicure, and everything went fine until she painted my nails. They were GODAWFUL. I’ve never had someone do such a bad job, and I’ve never done such a bad job myself. It was really aggravating. I can’t comment on their other services, but I wouldnt recommend it for mani-pedi until they hire a new nail tech…

This has been my regular salon for almost 3 years. Every single person in there is wonderful. I look forward to my monthly trip in — not just to get my hair done but to see how everyone is doing. Miranda is very talented — I pretty much let her do what she thinks will look good and I’m always *very* happy.
