Holy sodium intake! I stopped in here for lunch the other day cause ididnt want to walk all the way down into Rozzy Sq, proper. My Spanish leaves way too much to be desired, so it was a bit like watching a tennis match for a minute there, or some kind of auction. I started by asking for a chicken sandwich, by the end of the interaction, I’d been talked into getting a «Dominican style ham and cheese, the special» she didn’t say I couldn’t have the chicken sandwich, she didn’t say the ham and cheese was better or anything… I guess it was just meant to be. Six dollars, much confusion, and a bit of a wait later I had a sandwich. It seemed dominated by mayo, which was unfortunate. It was passable.

The best part of eating at Las Palmas is knowing it’s the real deal. Don’t speak Spanish? Be prepared to eat whatever they give you because placing your order will be a crapshoot. The fried sausages were the best thing we got, and by ‘best’ i mean ‘most likely to induce a heart attack.‘The worst part of eating at Las Palmas is that you want to really love the food and think, wow i just found this dive place in Roslindale with the BEST tostones, or batidas, or whatever. But it’s not. It actually kind of sucked. My bistec was dry and the maduros were overcooked or overripe or something. 2 stars for the experience and interesting people watching.
